Hey, Michael. Sorry for communicating with you here. Don't know how else to reach you. Anyhow, considering the number of martial arts you've trained in (and the number of black belts you've obtained), I've been meaning to ask: if you were to recommend one (and only one) of the arts you've practiced, what would it be? I've been training in Muay Thai myself for almost 20 years, but it's too sport-oriented. Now I just have to find out how to control and get my stamina back in the right shape. because even the way I'm punching feels way more correct and critical thanks to you. The thing is, yeah. I’ve seen professionals punch like that too (the arrow being swung at an opponent like a stick/baton, rather than fired from a bow.) But I’ve also seen those same punches straight up knock their opponents out because of the marksmanship and timing of them. The context of the real fights just don’t always agree with executing a picturesque, perfect punch with properly generated and hip-torqued power; so they resort to throwing the punches they can with what little openings they’re presented. That’s just my take.
