Michael Jackson's accusers say fatherhood helped them confront alleged abuse

Two men who say Michael Jackson sexually abused them as children are explaining why they are coming forward now. Wade Robson and James Safechuck detail the alleged abuse in “Leaving Neverland," an explosive HBO documentary premiering Sunday. Jackson always denied any inappropriate behavior with children. Robson and Safechuck spoke with Gayle King in an extended conversation.

I understand the division between people in regards to their view in this case. But I really think the comments on both sides are sad to read because of the hatred on either MJ or Safechuck and Robson. If he is innocent it is devastating that his legacy is being ruined but I personally think that the two men have the right to speak about their relationship to MJ without being publically crucified. Sexual abuse is something that should always be taken seriously no matter the person accused.

It's disrespectful to actual victims of sexual abuse. These two men go on shows saying they are not doing this for money yet go ahead and sue mj's estate for 1.5 BILLION dollars without evidence. Yes. NO evidence. It's quite funny how their statements are also contradictory. Every victim has a right to be heard, but in cases like this, it's just obvious character assasination. :( Edit: corrected my grammar ✌️

Lie detector tests don’t prove anything. All they do is monitor things like heart rate and perspiration, not whether what is being said is actually true. Sudden spikes in the information being relayed to the machine can just mean that the person is nervous. As long as you remain calm then you can beat the test.

First to blame are the parents. No child should be left alone with a complete stranger. I grew up loving MJ. Till this day his music is nostalgic, but you cannot trust anyone no matter who they are and what they have accomplished. I was sexually molested as a child and it took me about 30 years to finally say something. I was married almost 15 years before I built the courage to tell my wife. I felt ashamed and embarrassed. I have kids of mine own now and I’m very protective. The psychology damage is real. I think about it all the time. I think, what if it happens to my kids. Your innocence is taken from you and it has long term psychological effects. It’s a sad situation all around. Moral of the story, don’t leave your kids alone with strangers period.

Ulf Emanuel exactly. It’s hilarious how much they’re downplaying the money angle. Robson has literally been trying to mooch off the estate for nearing a decade. - Tried getting a job as a choreographer/director for their Cirque Du Soleil show - Tried shopping a book deal - Tried suing them for a billion dollars. Furthermore the most high profile people from MJs past who were friends with him as kids Corey Feldman (who is an active crusader against pedos), and Macaulay Culkin absolutely deny the allegations. Maybe before we destroy one of America’s most popular legacies outside of Coca Cola and the iPhone we’d get a little due process?

Illustraful 1- Corroboration: everybody in his life that was asked about it confirms it. 2- Literal footage of him performing, recording, and working as a child, teenager, and adult. We have child labor laws, yet somehow a child working in entertainment is completely fine. 3- His claim to not having a childhood is not a serious allegation with consequences hence requiring due process. Dismissal of victims is a serious problem. Belittling rape victims is a serious problem. However, advocating against due process goes against the very fabric of our justice system. Also - unlike this situation - there is no actual reason to be suspect of his claims to not having a childhood. There’s no financial payout or motive, and no real major benefit.

whats so funny they say the security guards made sure the room was locked and everything was secure and private so people wouldn't suspect or know anything when michael was "sexually abusing" them. but when the security guards had an interview, they completely denied everything that was said, and that michael had never locked little kids in rooms with him. anyway, what type of security guard would let a child be alone in a room with a grown adult. its just do disgusting that people have accused michael of this bs. and no, the reason that they both came out with these allegations now is not because they have children of their own, its because michael is dead, and he doesnt have a voice to defend or speak for himself. its just unbelievable that people try to still put dirt on his name even after he died. please just let this pure innocent man rest in peace, he was hurting and had so much pain in his life that he couldnt sleep for 5 minutes! He loved being around children because as a kid he wasn't allowed to act his age. he didnt want kids to experience that themselves so thats why they were always invited to neverland to enjoy themselves and not feel like they have to grow up so fast. michael just wanted to live the experience he never had-- being a child. he could relate to kids and hang out with kids because they wouldn't be two faced, or use him for money or anything. they would be with michael to just have a good time and be a kid. its dissapointing that people are accusing this king of complete nonsense. rest peacfully man, i really hope you understand there are people out there who support you and dont believe these silly lies.

When your small as a kid you don't realize what the consequences are . My father sexually molested me and never did I want my mother to find out. I felt shameful and scared I thought my mom would be upset. She would be out working to try and put food on the table. After they separated I still didn't say anything. Up until I got older that's when I finally spoke out. She took matters into her hands. Never did she question if I was lying or making up stories. She seeked justice and put my father behind bars. Just hearing stories like these remind me of my childhood. When you hear about strangers and to stay away from them you don't come to think that inside your own home a stranger already lives.

The entire point is trying to jump in with people who TRULY endured abuse,so anyone doubting is bad or just does not understand. AS SOON as "Mr Eye Brow" said "He said Squeeze my Nipples", RED FLAGS went up .. Michael Jackson sure endured issues, wanting to be beyond reproach as a global voice like Diana Ross or liz Taylor,he was not coming from that sexual piggish direction. Had they said he was doing it from a loving standpoint, then I may have believed them. The guy felt he could have no love, would not have been from that perspective..(Squeeze my Nipples). He was from a parental direction. He probably could not understand why he could not enjoy children from a Grandpa typed relationship without being "Suspected". The Aussie saw reality of life, that he had no real talent trying to now jump onto another bandwagon for money. Safechuck did the same once he saw Robson's lead. Both talent less losers, stealing from American Black culture. Our Black Culture has been ignored enough and building a positive history was important, and MJ knew he had the entire world upon his shoulders. He did not do it. I know behavioral science experts who picked these two apart easily as liars, but I already seen through it.. The perfect money grab here, stealing from a culture who did not deserve it again stolen.

Kayli Bravo I honestly feel bad for what MJ went through based on those lies those two made. He said they locked him up in a bathroom and they dislocated his shoulder and bruised his arm while being detained. The police raided his home and destroyed much of his property only to find zero evidence of anything that indicate he was a pedophile. He was proven innocent in the court of law and in an interview he told the stupid lady reporter. There was nothing. Even when she continued her yapping. There was other kids who came clean and said MJ never showed signs not touched them in appropriately nor anything. He was kind and loving and morally sane. On the same token he was always in the public eye and couldn’t even find it in himself to act in such a way with children to whom he cared about so much that he put so much time energy and effort to help children around the world who were less fortunate. It was the money and fame of MJ and his humility that got the worse of him and the media took advantage of that. 😡 they attacked him left and right and MJ was fed up with the lies and the industry he worked for that he tried to expose them. The real pedophiles run Hollywood. They hide in the shadows and with their influence they can bring anyone down as they did with MJ. Michael is innocent 100%!

Bear in mind that there was sexual abuse and control in MJ's family. This is a strong indicator of MJ's learned mindset. Pictures were found in MJ's flat of his nephews in their underwear. There's a repressed pedophilia in that at least. The idea that he was left alone with boys in his bed, well this is no repression of interest: it is manufacturing opportunity. It must have occurred to him that allegations could occur, and these could have ruined his image and career. So there must have been a powerful drive in him (such as a sexual one) to overpower this fear. Finally, I can see in James Safechuck's eyes that he is conflicted about talking about it. There have been too many abuse allegations against MJ, not all of which have any hope of gaining a financial advantage, that I think there must be substance in them. A creative genius of the entertainment world, but a disconnected one.

I believe both of the accusers. While I love Michael’s music, while I think he’s a genius and an icon. You can’t deny the fact that Michael has been creepy one too many times. Let’s all admit that we have been weirded out by his behavior over the years. Remember that interview with Bashir where he was being affectionate with this boy who had cancer and he admitted that he was sharing his bed with him? Umm strange for a grown man sharing his bed with a 12-13 year old. If you have seen the documentary which I recently have, these two accusers never really thought what happened was an abuse until they had a child of their own. They never really thought that the bond they had with Michael was abusive because Michael was caring and gentle to them but at the same time Michael molested them as a child. They were manipulated into thinking that the sexual things done to them by Michael and all the things he taught them was done out of love and they were led to believe that that was what people who love each other do. Wade loved Michael back and that’s why all through out the deposition case Wade defended Michael. It wasn’t only until he had a son where he realized it was all part of what grooming is.

I watched 'Leaving Neverland' last night and I must say it’s very compelling. Let me just be honest that I approached this documentary with a preconception of the accusers being “liars.” After watching the entire 2 parts, I’m not too sure now. Here’s my thoughts and perspective.. Michael was severely abused as a child by his father, physically, mentally, emotionally and according to LaToya Jackson, sexually too. (kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4GHrbGonLPedbA.html) Abuse is a vicious cycle. He didn’t have a childhood, no sense of what it was like to experience the innocence of playing, being a child, free from responsibility etc.. (This raises alarms kzread.info/dash/bejne/h2F2uZaDeNC2m5c.html). Over the years, I’ve looked into something called trauma based mind control, this is when the mind has a defense mechanism which compartmentalises the memory of extreme trauma (such as sexual abuse from either a parent or family member). This is why people cannot remember serious road accidents. Their mind creates an amnesiac barrier around the event so they don’t have to keep reliving such horrible memories. Once the mind’s unity has been shattered, these various compartments, each unaware of the other’s existence, can be programmed for various tasks or experiences. Using trigger words and hypnotic keys, sounds, or signals, these compartments can be pulled forward and pushed back like a mental filing cabinet. One self contained compartment or fragment of mind becomes the person’s conscious level and it is then returned to the subconscious and another compartment accessed. This means that after the victim has performed a task they forget what they have done and who with. This condition has become known as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The latter is more accurate because the compartments are not ‘personalities’ as such, they are fragments of mind which have disassociated, become detached from, the rest of the consciousness. So my point is, what if Michael had MPD? From all the traumatic abuse he experienced growing up? And then projected it out onto young ‘selected’ boys? Ok, so why didn’t the accusers tell the truth before? They claim to have loved Michael and wanted to protect him from going to jail, Michael threatened them to keep quiet, otherwise they will both end up in jail too. There is something called “Stockholm syndrome” - the dictionary defines this as: “feelings of trust or affection felt in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim towards a captor.” Also, the fact that they didn’t want to tell the truth is very typical in child abuse victims around the world, they don’t want to admit that what they experienced is wrong (cognitive dissonance), a sense of self-denial comes to fruition with these type of cases. The developing child brain is different than that of adults, and things that may immediately seem wrong to you or I can just be confusing to a child, and when they grow up it's difficult to integrate that. How do we know for sure what happens behind closed doors? Why would any grown man want to sleep with other people’s children. For me, I would NEVER allow a stranger, no matter how rich and famous he was, to sleep with my daughter, period! The mother’s victims claimed they were groomed by Michael for many years and fell into the trap of the fantasy world, who felt sorry for Michael for missing out on his childhood and wanted to share their child with them. I just recently found out that Michael installed a system in the hallway at the Neverland house that leads to his bedroom, to make bell sounds in his room, to alert him whenever someone was walking towards his bedroom. FACT: These men were not paid for the documentary and are fully aware that no public testimony now guarantees monetary retribution from the Jackson estate. Jason, one of the accusers, looks totally damaged, traumatised and broken, you can see it in his body language and eyes. If you haven’t watched the entire 2 parts, you cannot have a balanced understanding of how the abuse was perceived by them. Indeed, They didn’t perceive it as being abuse at the time. It is just hard to accept that the figures we admire could be capable of such heartlessness acts, it is a reminder to us that people are not always who they seem. We also have to be aware that the persona projected via their music could be VERY different to the persona of their inner self and what happens at home, in other words, the perception programming is so deep that it can cloud our judgement. Remember what happened when the truth came out about Jimmy Saville and Gary Glitter? the whole world and particularly the nation of the UK were in total shock, who could not come to understand why they did those things, for many years they got away with it. The extend of the abuse, the cover up, and many of his victims came out after his death, because he was just too powerful and they were too afraid. There were just so many that came out - it just couldn't be disputed anymore. Do I believe these accusers? I’m keeping an open mind, I can’t condemn Michael without him being here to be able to defend himself, but it has made me realise that we should look at victims of sexual abuse from a different perspective.

There's so many inconsistencies in Leaving Neverland: 1) Jimmy says Michael invited him to go to Euro Disney in Paris in 1988, but it was officially open in 1993 2) all the boys that wade said Michael abused, those boys including Brett Barnes said Michael didn't do any harm on him and they're lying. 3) Jimmy's mother said she was happy the day Michael died in 2009, but Jimmy started confessing during therapy in 2013 4) Wade's wife said she never had any Knowledge of sexual abuse but on their sexual abuse fund page it clearly says she was a victim of abuse 5) wade was in a relationship with Michael's neice for 7 years, but wade said Michael encouraged him to hate women. It was Michael who connected them both together And there's more inconsistencies with "Leaving Neverland."

  • @75marklee

Narinder I can understand after watching the doc how u could feel it’s possible they are telling the truth. But the fact remains just with these two alone if u examine them under a microscope they don’t hold up as credible witnesses If u do a google search on wades testimony as an adult in the 2005 trial and read the examination and cross examination under Thomas Mesereau and Ron Zonin a very seasoned prosecutor on sexual abuse u can see how many times and in divers ways he was asked if and how he was molested. Wade did not Waver in his defense of MJ. Even up till about 2012 he was defending MJ. Then just after 2012 Wade was removed as lead choreographer on the cirque du soleil show by the MJ estate. This is about the time when Wade started his allegations. I have heard 2 explanations from Wade explaining his previous testimony in 2005. 1) he didn’t understand the concept of abuse 2) he lied because he was in love with Michael and as a qualification he was scared he would have been in trouble. But at 22 one still thinks this ? He and Safechuck are suing for close to a billion. Having lost the cirque du soleil show and coincidentally coming out with these new allegations is suspicious in the very least. Watching the doc is an emotional experience but remember even though Dan Reed would have u believe there is a “ mass of new evidence” as he stated in an interview with Good Morning Britain he knows there is none except the testimony of these 2 new witnesses He spoke about only soiled underwear in about 2 seconds and I think he is referring to the testimony of MJs former maid Adrian McManus But if u watch her interview on 60 minutes Australia she seems easily discredited. She was confronted on that very show about her conflicting testimony from 1993 compared to her 2005 testimony Her motivation ? Possibly because she was caught stealing from MJ and was terminated She tried to file a wrongful termination lawsuit against MJ and lost She up to this point was ordered to pay up to million dollars in court fees back to MJs estate as well as about 30k for theft. And she admitted when asked in that 60 minute interview about the money she owes that she has not paid back a dime. I think if u examine all the accusers from 1993 , 2005 and these 2 today that they were/are hardly credible and would b thrown out of any court of law. If u want specific links for these sources I can provide them if u need Another good objective read are the Wikipedia articles on the 1993 case and 2005 cases. Keep in mind The documentary is counting on appealing to your emotions and not your logical mind and they are counting on ppl not doing any research. Peace ✌️

Wade said in one interview that he didn't realize what happened was molestation, but then he said he was in love with him and didn't want to hurt him. That he wanted to protect him. Which is it? Those are 2 completely different reasons as to why, as an adult, he testified on Michael's behalf at the criminal trial. As to when he knew Michael molested him, it was when he was holding his son and imagining him being molested. Wtf would you be thinking about your 1 year old son like that? Who imagines their child being molested? I've been molested when I was 6 yeard old and I NEVER wanted to even think about someone hurting my babies. Something just doesn't add up with their stories. It's like they and their parents used MJ back then for what they could get and now, as adults and MJ's gone, they are still using him but the way they are doing it is different.

You would have to come from a perspective of an adult who was sexually abused as a child to really even begin to understand, I was and I completely understand what he is saying because I went thru the exact same thing as a child by adults in the entertainment biz too. MJ had power, to silence him on various deep levels phycologically, it wasn't until they became father's that they understood the depth of the destruction that being molested by MJ caused. It's like the child's mind and heart doing a coping/survival mechanism, to try and deny and even pretend it didn't happen because it's extremely traumatic to experience on a child let alone an adult. The mind and heart are made to endure much turmoil, but sometimes that includes shut out memories or denying the depth of the trauma to even be able to wake up each day, I know because I endured this too and when I became a mother myself, I also understand the depth of the evil that was done to me as a child and it made me see it wasn't my fault and that I had a right to speak about the evil to others with the motive to protect other children and to heal. The mind and heart are very powerful tools, even as children the mind can learn to dismiss things and not understand the trauma being done while in the moment and for years past, not until a person actually sees the revelations of the evil that was done to them, then the victim can begin to heal. I'm speaking from experience, of having endured horrific abuse and I recognize and see these same things in these men who are still healing. Any real professional would have this same discernment and agree

Fred and Rose West were serial killers in Britain who also raped and tortured their own children. When two of the daughters had the opportunity to testify in court about the abuse, they refused, and the Wests continued their reign of terror for several more years until they were finally arrested. Women who suffer domestic violence often testify in defence of their violent husbands because they've been brainwashed into believing their husband loves them. Victims of Catholic priests often don't speak out until many years after the abuse. But you think it's a-OK that a middle aged man slept in the same bed as little boys not related to him and that all his accusers are liars.

A few things we need to keep in mind: Sharing your bed with children is not a crime 💯. This seems to be one of the biggest selling points on the accusing side, but it is not illegal & does not automatically prove sexual abuse took place 💯 What we're looking at & what needs to be proven/disproven is SEXUAL ABUSE TOOK PLACE 💯 Now with that being the case, it is hard to the get to the actual facts of the situation, especially considering the alleged actions took place so many years ago and can only truly be confirmed by those behind the closed door. So if we look at the FACTS THAT WE DO HAVE, it all points to Jackson's innocence 💯 the FBI and LAPD have investigated MJ intensely for years, & we're not able to convict him on these crimes, THIS IS FACT 💯 So who are we to say this man is guilty, years after his death when he's no longer here to defend himself & after being proven innocent in our gospel justice system?

I would hate to think these men are praying on the feelings of those truly impacted with child molestation, rape, etc. This is not fair or making any sense in the way it is being told.

It is comforting to read comments like yours amongst all the hate and abuse there. I would never in a million years support or defend an abuser but something does not sit right with me. It's almost like their answers mirror each other to perfection.

I believe these two men. As LaToya Jackson said what 30 odd year old man stays in the same room as little boys for days on end? If women came out and did this we'd be calling the brave and courageous.

Wow people are so against them.. Man just listen for once.. If your kid gets abused one day? Just because he is a celebrity doesn't means he can get away with it. I love MJ, but humanity first!

Right Humanity first like a person is innocent until Proven guilty and what about his poor 90 year old mother and his kids?? And they are liars. Even a judge said so about Wade.

I can understand why many people don't understand their position ( this two victim), many people blaming instead of feel sorry for them. But you know as a victim of child abuse my self. I was just silent and try to just forget the abuse I had and move forward my life, to create a new better life and for a while it's work. But when I have my baby girl, what my Step father and my uncles have done to me it's like flashes come back again and you have fear that it could happens to your children, you have nightmare about people who abuse you in the past does it to your children and its made you brave to tell the past that you want to forget forever. I talk to the people around me to whole family so that gave them awareness to their children so that what happened to me not happening to them.

did you defend your abuser to very agressive police aged 12 and 17. and take the stand fir 2 days without a hitch aged 22. James was ruled out from defending by the judge aged 27 but he did a deposition. yetcgot caught lying in their lawsuits, tossed out 9 times know the stories have changed 11 times. these like all of MJ's accusers have no credibility

I believe them 100%. I can identify with their story of things changing once they had children. You see what you must have been like at your child’s age and you see your abuse with different eyes.
