Michael Hayden on Snowden, surveillance and NSA - UpFront

The National Security Agency (NSA) has repeatedly come under scrutiny for its surveillance of millions of Americans' emails and phone calls. As director of the agency from 1999 to 2005, General Michael Hayden was tasked with leading some of its most controversial actions.
In part two of Mehdi Hasan's interview with Hayden, the general defends the NSA's mass surveillance and stands by his comment that Edward Snowden is a defector.
"Whistle-blowing requires someone to actually point out a violation of law and [Snowden] has not done that," Hayden says.

Respect: [noun] esteem, regard, high regard, acclaim, admiration, approbation, approval, admiration, appreciation, awe, veneration, deference, praise, worthy, homage, honour. Respect: [mass noun]; a feeling of great regard and admiration elicited to someone or something by their abilities, qualities or achievements. Respect isn’t a word I’d use to describe him-Contempt, disgust, liar, hypocrite (for not standing up for what’s right, while pretending he’s one of the “good guys”). He forgets that the American people are his employer-their tax pays his extremely well (added onto to the “perks” of the job). If everything was legal and above scrutiny with regards his actions, why do Supreme court judges say it is a breach of civil liberties and the American people were not informed about it. If law enforcement have a legitimate concern about a person, they can get a warrant for a tap, but not for someone who has not the slightest reason to be investigated. That shows no respect for the people pay for him to for fill him being in that post. He should be in jail. I wonder how he feels about the journalists who broke watergate (the journalists got a Pulitzer for it, not an espionage case thrown at them)- the reason being (according to him) that “he knows better the citizens”, the US people. Who are his boss. This guy is the lowest of the low, beyond contempt. And a lot of what the problems of North America today, and by extension, the rest of the world.

Hayden constantly busting out the Strawman. Whenever he's asked the million dollar question : "So, isn't Snowden the reason that mass surveillance has come to public attention?" He always immediately flips the script to : "He stole blah blah amount of classified documents." (Stuck in his own echo chamber and in denial because his brainchild program was embarrassed by Snowden and Hayden's ego can't take it). What a snake. Doesn't accept that he broke the law but cries about Snowden breaking the law to prove that NSA was breaking the law. Egotistical denial at its finest. And all Snowden wants? A fair trial if he were to ever be able to return. (Most humblest request considering the influential leverage he now has globally). But the biggest proof Snowden is a true patriot outside of him sacrificing everything for the people of USA, when he was detained for 2 months by the Russians, he didn't betray the US for a second. Now, ironically, Russia gives him asylum + citizenship out of all the countries in the world. Of course this will infuriate Hayden, Cheney, Bush, and Obama even more. Til this day, Snowden says he still loves his country and would love to return home, as long as he gets a fair trial. The contrast of morals/ethics/intelligence/maturity between Hayden and Snowden, is night and day.

@@Moorsho So Al Jazeera is, according to you, not a European name or English name. Therefore, according to you, I do apply that word - Al Jazeera - to Arabs. What? What kind of logic are you using or are you even using logic? My comment was made specifically and pointedly only with reference to the corporate broadcaster with the name of "Al Jazeera" whom the reporter in the clip is working for. When I made that comment that is all I was referring to -- the company, the broadcaster. So, no I am not applying "that word," Al Jazeera to Arabs. You can say that I am if you want, and you can believe it. But you are in some kind of alternate reality of your own making if you do so. I will not try to explain this further. As for Christians working at Al Jazeera? Name one.
