Bald is the way!
Subscribed for dyno results! Curios if this would be worth doing with my ITB setup for a little extra without going full hog on the headwork.

Hopefully soon!
Be cautious about sharpness of the exhaust merge. You are basically creating heat concentration in that area that can prone to cracking ;) but nice decent job

@@NappMotorsports 👍 I am planning to do some decent porting on my spare BP05 head which is currently on the way from UK (damn Brexit)...
What about doing ceramic coating to the combustion chamber, valve faces and exhaust ports?

Would probably benefit, but this was an 80/20 build. Get 80% of the power for 20% of the cost. The last 20% of power gets very expensive.
Thoughts on using a carbide burr instead of the drum wheels?

I do that sometimes, but it takes off a lot of material very quickly. Sander is more controlled and precise.
How far can you plane the head before you get Interference ? I thought you had to go over 60 thou for that?

It's around .040-.050" I believe. The VVT has higher compression pistons which makes it a bit different than a Non-VVT engine.
What Miata year VVT head (99-00) or (01-05) is best swap for 1996 1.8 engine? Thanks

The VVT (01-05) has all the flow benefits of the 99-00, with the increased benefit that it makes more power down low due to the variable intake gear. 99-00 intake manifold is the best of the bunch through (excluding Skunk2 or Square Top), so that with a 01-05 head is a good start. The best is to do the whole engine swap, as that gets you the 01-05 higher compression piston, which is even better for power. But if you’re just doing the head, then 01-05 VVT hands down. And an ecu that can control VVT like an MS3 ($1200) or a Beer Money Motorsports ECU ($450) like what we’re using in our track car.

@@NappMotorsports you are great! Appreciate the reply. Had not considered 01-05 whole engine VVT swap? Guess that would be good to install in a Na Miata, especially when I am planning to turbo the car.
