Lol I started mhw 3 months ago and read on old reddit people was saying just do draw infinity and dragon piercer. I was like this damage is shit.

I thought it was a great video. Well narrated; and I thought the editing was good as well. The quality of the information carried the video nicely. Because you know the weapons so well, you keep us captivated without having to go overboard/flashy. This is nostalgic for us longtime MHW players, but it's also informative/interesting for the newer ones. Keep up the good work!

*sigh* Still remember the days where Rath Soul Helm Beta, Rath Mail Beta and Teostra vambraces were a staple in my sets.

@@MegaPixlz I stopped playing as well last year on the console after Kulve was first released cuz RNG gave me the middle finger every time I completed the siege, so for a time I was out of the meta as well. After buying the PC version sometime around september, I was quickly able to catch up by generally watching speedruns of some youtubers like Phemeto here. Yeah it's kinda meh when you're just copying someone else's set, but you can eventually branch out and create your own set from there. Whats great is that there aren't alot of armor pieces to choose from anyway for an optimized build, since select pieces of the arch tempered armor sets and behemoth's are all around the best in terms of deco slots and skills. Problem is farming them tho.

John Rivera this is my current set up with the Nergigante coil. I’m only HR60 as I started playing early May. What’s the new best armor to have for bow users?

@@ARod3 Slr, but I suggest watching some of Phemeto's videos where he uses the Bow. (He shows his gear near the end of each hunt). Those pretty much showcase the current armor sets used in the current meta for max dps.

I'm not sure why you don't like these videos, they are easily some of my favorite on the channel!

@@Phemeto thats sound ironic, since you create amazing runs and content that everybody love and im pretty sure you motivated a lot of hunters to join from the melee guild to the gunners guild. :)

these videos are really cool. i like seeing how the meta shifted with different monster releases. and you explain it all in depth really well, honestly, very good videos

When you mained a different weapon on release so by time the bow meta became more solidified in crit element play style you already had the core decoration skills for bow to go crazy lol.

The best MHW retospective, relevant to newcomers and veterans alike. Quality content - your pacing/delivery is about as no nonsense and informed as it gets. I've been there since the beginning and had a few months after Extremoth where I took a break. Not only was your vid an excellent journey through the evolving playstyle of MHW bow (excellent points on gem/gear availability and its effects on builds), I now know very clearly what the current situation of bow is right before Iceborne hits. Thanks for the content - I would gladly watch your other MHW weapon history retrospectives!

When I first started playing mhw I never thought bow would be one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Now it’s one of my main weapons along w/ Hammer.

@@FishS0cks Not blind just tricked into thinking he is, Humans that didn't like him filled his helm with pine resin so he couldn't see. Didn't stop him from knocking Kalameet out of the sky though.

I really enjoyed this video as well. I came back into MHW here last month and started fresh on PC. It's fun to see where I left off on console and am working towards on PC.

Awesome video Phem, I started playing well after DP meta and things were well stablished already, interesting to see how things changed keep it up PD. You forgot support bow meta

You got it! (except Kjarr and Taroth Water are actually about equal) After 1000+ Bow hunts I've settled on Con 3 / SS 2 / WEX 3 / CB 3 / and Crit Eye as high as you can get it. (don't forget Mighty Bow deco). Skipping Normal+Spread Shot decos in favor of the stamina skills. No need to waste vouchers. Con3 + SS2 + Dash Juice is soo incredibly comfortable I recommend every bow player try it out once.

Was leaning towards practicing up on my switch blade and now I want to Bow through the catalogue of monsters which I haven’t used since the opening weeks. Guess I can burn a day away ;p Oh and new sub here :) thanks for the great video.

Out of curiosity Phemeto, do you think bow needs to nerfed a bit, and if so in which ways (e.g. reducing the crit element multiplier at base, lowering KO damage, etc.)? Regardless, solid video!

Bow went from ranged Hammer to ranged Dual Blades. Instead of focusing on the single volley with power shot, it changed to rapid hits with lots of element, going through stamina like a shark a school of minnows. If Dash Juice hadn't been nerfed, Bow would've probably been the undisputed king of the base MHW meta, as it could drop stamina management skills for more crit, attack, or element (I don't count Max Might as it would've been completely different with infinite stamina). These two reasons are ultimately the reason I dropped Bow when MHW finally released. Old-style Bow felt too weak to do anything early, so I was planning to pick it back up in post-game, after getting a bunch of Dash Juice and making a set with Focus. After finding out Dash Juice's nerf and old-style being obsolete, I never picked it up again. I originally picked up Bow as a safe way to fight Rajang while actively fighting him, not passively like a GS baby, back in 4U, with the same playstyle in Gen/GenU carrying me through GenU's G-rank in multiplayer. It both gladdens and saddens me to see where Bow is today, being in the meta for the former but not how I learned it for the latter.

What is the character wearing at 09:59? It looks great. Even if it's a mod, please let me know, I'm on pc

Brief history of LS when :D

I've had the game for a couple of weeks on PC and can't play enough. I play with bow until I can't kill something, then fall back to Lance until I learn how to kill it, and once I've mastered the monster I swap to a Kirin/Legiana/dual blade/bandit blade build to farm efficiently. I enjoy testing out new weapons occasionally, and the great sword is great and the hammer is funny af, but also very useful for farming kelbi horns.

So current DP is still diablos, but you can make blast bow work too. Kjarr blast is not much weaker and gets some extra booms

Bow is really simple you can learn it in an hour or less easily, I picked it up on a whim to hunt Kirin back when the game released (switched from LS) its a really good weapon and just watch a quick guide and you’re all set

Hi dude, I appreciate the video but just some constructive feedback: 1. Relevant text shouldn't be on the screen the same time relevant audio is going on. 2. I don't know if it's the mic you have or your particular way of speaking but the speech sounded fairly slurred which made it difficult to follow. Just want to make clear I enjoyed the content.

The first time i used bow in MHW it confuses me the hell out Like wtf am i supposed to do with this? Charge it? Spam it? Where should i aim? And what is my arrow type? Why is there no pierce?

Over 50 Kulve run 0 Kjárr Bow feels like the system intented to do so since I am bow main fml

meanwhile CB had only 1 choice for a very very very long time wich was a bit boring and im a CB main i realy like the design of lunastra CB but it doesnt had the *BOOM* like the Diablos CB. im glad they improve elemental CB in Iceborn

Yeah, I can't help it. I hate the "new" bow play style. Going back to Gen just cements that for me, even with the wholly worse aiming controls. I don't find it fun at all.

lol pathetic. The current bowplay is completly Amazing. Slow charge every shot like a tard is not a fun playstyle. DP playstyle also called "snailstyle" is boring as fuck and iam so glad that it died off at the start of MHW. Current bow is the greatest bowplay in any game really, bow is Always slow and you have to carefully aim each arrow and you almost always only have a certain ammount of arrows, like in the farcry games etc its also fun and really good bowplay sure but the bowplaystyle in MHW is so diffrent from other games wich include bows and its very fresh/diffrent and amazingly fun.. So typical anyways "they changed it from the old games so now i stopped playing it". Hurr durr change is bad hurr durr, i remember the good old days when bows took a day to charge up an arrow hurr durr i like sucking on garbagebags hurr durr
