@@camerancole8433 Good question it seems narga hbg has the benefit of 6 rounds of pierce ammo 3(which I dont doubt the legiana version does too) low recoil with 1 recoil mod wyvernsnipe and 25% base affinity. Also slicing imo is a niche ammo only needed for cutting things other than that it's kinda meh also annoying stagger area on detonation. Probably it's bc of the raw

Now if they only did something about slicing, I'd be a happy gunner. They way overturned it after the first patch. The reason slicing was op was the stun lock it could do, it could lock an elder in place for the whole time. The KO it has made sticky and hammers look like you were hitting a monster with a pillow. So to balance it just tune down the stun way down. But they cut the slices from 7 to 5 (almost a 30% nerf in damage) and as a middle finger lowered slashberries from 60 to 30. You can bring enough mats to craft 419 normal ammo, 380 spread and pierce but only 60 slicing? Its sad when spread 1 can do almost as much damage as slicing can. Pierce and spread do 60 to 120%(probably more, just a low ball) more than slicing can do on its best day. The only reason to use it is on elders like Teo when they heat up and most of their body takes no damage but then sticky does more damage and now does way more stun so what's the point of slicing? Cutting tails? Doubt it could even if every hit landed on the tail. Also lbgs need some love. Seems like Capcom really loves the evade reload they made and every lbg is tuned to use it if you want an optimal build. Want power barrel on your RF pierce lbg, either use evade reload or be suck with slow regular reload. Want close range mod on your spread 3, not enough mod slots for that and normal recoil and reload. Adding a 5th mod slot would open up so many possibilities. I like the counter wyvernblast and would love to play with it but I need my slots for recoil and reload. New barrels are cool but again no mod slots.

Even post nerf it's better than it was in other games. I think it should have a decent part breaker effect on it to make it good at the reason it exists, which actually is for cutting tails, which yeah it currently sucks at, but it's workable for stubborn ass people like me who don't want to switch to a blade master weapon.

I’m really having fun with my clutch claw build. It’s crazy effective, especially with a team. Buuuut...NOT AT ALL recommended for Tigrex or Jho or Rajang or anything else where their whole body is in most of their hitboxes

Awesome! Was waiting for a great Sticky build. Will also update my Spread and Pierce builds with these. Vely surprised about the clutch claw attack damage... Will defo try that too! Phemeto never dissapoints!

So: Spread 3, Normal 3, Pierce 3, Sticky 3 + Clusters, And Ele HBG if you're okay with HBGs lack of mobility (Ps. I'd LOVE to see some Ele HBGs sets!), Are ALL viable. How. Freaking. Awesome. Is. That! Like... Holy hell! Sure, Spread 3 is still meta, but the fact HBG has so many options now that are all relatively strong, is insane! Looking forward to the LBG video!

@@matheusr925 Actually he mentions that they're not too bad, but the lack of mobility is something he doesn't want to deal with, especially since LBG does a better job at an elemenral playstyle while also being super safe. It's certainly viable (Someone did a Velkhana TA in about 3 minutes, with unoptimised dps, using an ele HBG) but it's whether you want to deal with HBGs lack of mobility.

Oh boy its so satisfaing to see the pierce shot pentrate the intire monster.

did you ever use the KT-Support HBG against AT Xeno? It is sooo fantastic with the pierce, Its just as good as DP on Bazel and watching him fall apart as the arrows travel (because of the insane part dmg you could do)

Nice hbg recap! It's nice to have more hbg diversity, so everyone can bring his own setup for the loyal thunder in the hunts.. XD

The hybrid loyal build is so amazing... i've beem using it for a week before this video and i cam tell: it's like be in a rank above Master rank if you realy knows what you are doing and monsters timing. Pierce is awesome to, tobi's hbg gives to mutch versatility in builds. Like phemeto's say: makes bazels and jhos cry.

HBG is my new fav weapon. Shield + guard up and lvl 5 guard is the most fun I've had. Being able to block insta kill attacks and dish out more damage than a greatsword is magnificent!

I recently decided to try the Zinogre HBG....it’s just broken with the 3 shield mods, and full guard. I take zero damage from every monsters attack, and still deal massive amounts of damage. Plus the build with the build I still have Crit eye 7 WE 3 CB 3 It’s just easy mode mindless hunting compared to melee weapons which I usually main.

I find quick scoping with the spread shot special scope to be much less irritating. Still get the damage boost without feeling like your stuck in a looking glass

I take off my glasses whenever I do scoped Bowgun just to blur it enough to not hurt to stare.

Shield had one use in base game... AT Xeno. So useful with a guard up deco.

ik the rajang hbg has crazy raw but i didnt think it was a straight up, upgrade from the shara hbg because it doesnt have cluster 2's which is important sometimes and it doesnt have sleep for sleep bombing but i guess the raw just out beats all those little technicalities.

Nah, I will happily sacrifice damage to not use that damn scope for my spread guns. Multiplayer? Maybe. But hell no in a single hunt.

First time I seriously tried making a HBG build ever, with loyal thunder spread 3, I got Teostra down in under 10 minutes while having no idea what I was even doing. HBG is ridiculously easy to use, especially with the new craft all function.

Long barrel allows you in the guiding lands to target monsters like kushala With stickies from just outside the monster range and continually pump it with them and the monster will sit there without coming to attack you if you know a certain place or two to stand

Josh derp I didn’t say anything about that I’m not good I’m an old man that Hass to travel a lot for my job so I don’t get to play a lot and when I do I don’t get to connect to the Internet to do it so I have to play solo, I only get home a couple of days once every six weeks so that helps

I play clutch claw with the blazooka but must switch to shara after seeing that 1k I just love health regen without so much grinding.

Is the Scope a straight up 30% damage boots? I hate the scope on my Zinogre spread and my Narga Pierce HBG but if it’s a straight up 30% boost... I guess I’ll have to use it lol

and that why people hate it because you'll be a fool not to take advantage of the damage if thats what your looking for anyway. but in a real fight the monster is always moving, which means your not always going to be in critical range, its not completely consistent though but in my experience only half the shots some times gets the 30% boost which even at that point its still worth running since spread hits a wide range and more then once.

sadly ballistics doesn't effect the critical range on scope for spread but you can definitely use it for pierce.

Special Scope does 2 things: First, while using it it acts as a full Deviation suppressor. Can't use it in conjunction with Wyvernheart or anything but it's something to note. Second, it adds a mechanic called "Super Critical Distance" that is way more finicky than normal Critical Distance and will require a lot of effort to maintain against a moving monster, but *boosts damage by 30% at that range.* Super Crit Distance works for everything that's normally boosted by Crit Distance, so yes Spread and Pierce are affected though for Pierce I'd argue it's ineffective. The +30% is obviously an amazing damage booster but it's not as simple as putting on the scope, you need to maintain that super crit distance.

Question: Which has higher DMG output? Spread Level 2 or Agitator 5? In my current Loyal thunder set-up, I have 1 slot to increase Agitator to level 5 from level 4 or Spread Power Shot 2 from Spread Power Shot 1?

I cant wait to get these tested myself is there an update with god decos already?

Some people mentioned that the special scope only works on the first tick of Pierce shot so it is useless. Is it true?

all Im going to say is your severely underrating artillery level 5 for true spare shot, as the huge increase in damage from artillery 5 is worth the 5/10% drop of spare shot activation (I forgot if true ss is 25 or 30, while normal ss is 20), like sticky with artillery 5 can easily solo any monster, and that's without eating for bombadier

Nothing about the righteous varka? It's a pretty decent hbg in my opinion.

You were a little off on the state of sticky 3 HBG in HR. You could always carry 30 blastnuts, and combined with the occasional cluster, it was plenty of ammo for a hunt. Jho was the HBG of choice. I pretty much used Sticky 3 Jho for the entirety of HR endgame.

@Josh derp Well, that was toxic. I never said it could put up glutton times, just that it had a combination of damage and ammo capacity that made it viable as a main ammo. Which I had a ball using to clear all the endgame content in the base game while getting 4-5 KOs per fight. But that's probably me just being stupid/bad.

Everyone forgets for nargacuga HBG you can run elementaless that's a good boost in raw.

My first monster hunter is Sunbreak and I main Lbg pierce is really good then played iceborne and feels lbg pierce for iceborne does not damage good shells were bad and I don't like the slide to load the shells then I tried HBG spread and really love it.. next monster hunter will be gen U for my nintendo switch Will probably buy Vita and 3ds xL forbthe old generation.

What's your take on jho hbg? To this day I'm still in love with that weapon now aesthetically improved.

Rajang's HBG makes it completely obsolete (which is also the same case for Jho's LBG). It also wasn't that great before Rajang due to it being a worse option for Stickies and Clusters than both Shara's HBG and Zorah's HBG.

@@angelfrnco7604 Oh totally! I *love* Jho's looks too. It's such a shame that none of it's weapons are great. The entire reason they were good in the base game was because they had higher raw than all other weapons, but now almost every catagory has multiple weapons that match Jho's for raw while having better affinity, slots, etc. It's such an odd design choice.

So we didin't get our inherent 1.5x multiplier back, but we got other nice stuff and it's actually possible to play HBG at range again. Better than expected after all of the nothing they changed with GS.

Please someone tell me how power barrel affects elemental ammo? I've tested it so many times and havent figure out what it does. It doesnt add any more damage ticks, it doesnt make the damage higher, and it doesnt affect the distance between each damage tick (all gathered from the training area).

It slightly shortens the distance between damage ticks. You can try this by changing the training room to the one with the cart in it and shooting through it from various angles. It's not a massive difference, but it's still noticable.

I was testing it on the cart before with rapid fire ele and it was not very noticable if at all (but it definitely felt different on monsters). After going back and testing it on single fire ele ammo it is definately more noticeable shooting from different angles.

As far as Pierce HBG, why isn't anyone looking at the Shrieking Legiana HBG? It has a lvl 1 slot, 0% affinity, and much higher raw than either Narga, and Tobi HBG.

Can you get 100 aff on non weakzones? Without max might you need aff on pierce and if you use it , mm will be off half the hunt (since you have to use clutch claw and dodge/block)

Narga and Kadachi have built in affinity, with Kadachi having a much higher ceiling for affinity, at 80 percent affinity with Crit Eye 7 and fully augmented. Also, you have so many status ammo at your disposal. Narga only has 4 slots but access to Non Elemental Boost. Im using Kadachi in my hunts and having a gay ol time perforating monsters. Though I run a Shield Sniper setup so results may vary.

Not sure about this myself, WEX builds would boost the damage on hitzones considerably while the damage on shitzones won't be dramatically impacted. In my mind it seems more beneficial to amplify the damage on good hitzones because shitzones are always going to be bad (Assuming we don't tenderise but therein lies another benefit of wex)

I'm running running Rajang Destroyer (Sticky 3) with three shield mods and a power barrel, but am not sure what other mod is worth it. Does close range up do anything for sticky?

Clearly you haven´t played a Crag HBG yet, even tho power barrel boost the stun effect even more, it reduces your maximum range (doesn´t stand there but just go and test it) and the really good thing about a crag HBG is that you don´t need to go anywhere near the monster because even if your not in critical range you loosing exactly 1 damage on the impact, long barrel on the other hand also Extends your maximum range and it makes the shots fly faster which is quite important on faster monsters to consistantly hit whatever you want to hit (which is usually the head because the impactdamage of those things is just stupid) oh and you don´t need anything besides stickys really, i run the velkhana with artillery secret, slugger, agitator/peak and the spare shot charm. they hit, depending on the monster, for about 140-150, add 1 poisen and 1 sleepbomb with a few wyvernsnipes and it kills pretty much everything solo while your cats using the taunt shield so you can just chill and stunlock the monsters

Not with the elementless nerf combined with the most recent update. Narga's HBG only gets +13 more raw from elementless, and fitting elementless into sets can be an issue considering Narga's lack of slots and Ballistics also being mandatory for Pierce. Compare that with Tobi's HBG which can now get *+31 more raw* through augments and custom mods while also being more versatile than Narga's in both status shots and set building variety.

Good video but a few glaring issues.. Blast nuts could always be carried in stacks of 30. That's not an iceborne exclusive feature. Magda Gematus having "pretty low raw" is just flat out wrong, it had the 2nd highest raw in the game losing to only Griffin Blazooka by 15 points. The negative affinity does nothing considering all you use is stickies + clusters and magda up until that point was a top 5 HBG in the game because it had the most status applications. Whether it was solos or groups the weapon would utterly destroy most monsters by locking them in stun animations into sleep into paralyze back to sleep into stun. Besides that everything else was informative

I believe the Narga HBG can use elementless right? Would you still prefer the Kadachi HBG over the Narga one? :) I have both at this point, unsure which one is better. xd

Its the same dmg even with elementless. But worst bcoz u losing slots from kadachi and using elementless. Yes its stronger than kadachi until you fully augmented kadachi.

@@KazeKumo I've been comparing both the Narga and Kadachi HBG and using the same build, the Narga is always about 5-10 EFR higher with Elementless even when fully augmenting the Kadachi HBG. The Kadachi will get 2 ATK and a level 2 and level 1 deco slot over the Narga, but I can't find a setup where the Kadachi deals more damage in Honeyhunter.

Depends on the monster, 3 Shields give you Lance Guard, but you'll take chip damage from tempered monsters unless you have Guard 5. At 3 shields Guard 5 the only things u take chip damage from are the super beam attacks (just a bit). Although Both Ruiner Nerg and Rajan (SSJ mode) do a ton of chip damage even at 3 Shield Guard 5. You have to use 4 Shield Guard 5 to make the chip on those 2 negligible.

What does heavy bowgun have going for it? One word: Zinogre

Zorah have same raw with more status options so yeah .Rajang have highest raw but its auto reload on sticky and 2 ammo clip on cluster even with free element (and recoil 3 4 on shock ammo )

No use for long barrel? I stand on the other side of the map while tempered rajang attacks my palicos stooge and I get to fire stickies and not get touched for 90% of the hunt.

So with HBG you can build it like a tank, A LOT of defence with some firepower, or a glass tactical nuke? I’ll stick with tank “Witnesses can’t testify if there isn’t any witnesses left

Why not run 5 artillery on sticky?

Logan Mackey because most sets that would run sticky art 5 will overcap the raw dmg bonus of sticky ammo and then you'd just be wasting skill points

That aiming for weak spots on console looks really sad..

that chart you put about the sticky ammo is completely wrong and is spreading misinformation, the rajang lbg caps its sticky damage at 512 atk, you multiply whatever base raw the weapon has by 1.24 and then you get the sticky cap, felyne bombardier and artillery 5 do help on increasing the damage, but say for example, the rajang lbg caps at 512 atk, and lets just say that without artillery and felyne bombardier, the damage on the sticky 3 is around 70 or so, at a cap of 512, if you have the skills then the damage is increased, but having more than 512 wont give you more damage per shot, I hope capcom adress this issue, cause it really is dumb to have a cap on a something where everything else doesnt.

Bring back the old HBG Cluster

while you at it, please make bowgun set that can cut tail, in 2 player difficulty, and kill the monster, without going back to camp to restock ammo. also the other person must use blunt weapon like Hammer or Hunting Horn. so no help from him in cutting tail, palico is ok tho

Slicing got nerfed too much in vanilla to make a build around it worth doing.

ancestraldragon your request is actually really easy. Carry the mats to craft more slicing, run the highest raw hbg you can with destroyer and pure crit build stacking attack up and agitator as high as possible. Only slicing ammo the tail once you've weakened it with claw and that tail will be free in no time

i hate spread why is it soo broken,, i love Pierce but u have to be perfect, spread u can literally be blind and still kill quick

I really hope they nerf the Glutton v2. If they nerfed the slice, they can nerf spread too.

Just make scope not work with spread. It's common sense that shotguns don't need scopes.

Elemental ammo is shit though. You'd be literally better off with a Normal Shot than Flaming Shot.

Not your fault but the comment section on your videos have so much more toxicity and elitism compared to any other mh KZread ime.
