I wish they would have nerfed bows dodges so the noskill world generation bow users would actually learn how to play i mean people complain about the zin hbg but imagine zin hbg with 80% higher raw + elemental & status damage with dodges better than dual blades well u dont have too just go main bow because thats what i described

@@averynewtown2782 I can understand where he's coming from though. It'd be nice if other weapon classes had better options in terms of moveset and move cancels. Not all weapons can come anywhere close to some of the good Long Sword and gunner options. At least they can have fun while they hunt. Hunts are chill as fuck. I can tell you as Greatsword, some of these fast ass monsters are not that great to fight. Savage Jho isn't that bad, but shit like Barioth and Ebony Odagaron are a nightmare sometimes because they just don't stop moving most of the time. Even Critical Draw sets (with Velkhana) struggle in this expansion.

@@desmondbrown5508 better learn other weapons if you are having trouble.. I use GS, SA, DB, bow and the hunts become pretty easy depending on what weapon I use on what monster I hunt..

"Go farm it" as though my 900 hours playing and not dropping a single Mighty Bow deco means there's a method to farming this one specific jewel.

Greatest. Jagras. If you played up to 8 hours a day consecutively totalling 900 hours them you have played for 112 days. If you didn't farm chungus for decos in the times he was available in those 112 days that's your own fault and can't be mad about not having decos from base game Edit: totally to totalling

@@TheFouroffives It's still highly possible to not get the decos you need. I farmed him quite a lot as GS but I still don't have a 3rd critical gem nor did I get more than 2 focus gems. Granted I didn't need them always, but it does offer much more flexibility.

Jeremy Finley I farmed greatest jagras and lavasioth for a long time, jagras gave me nothing, lavasioth gave me all CB related decos, but my bow decos I did not get from them but from AT vaal (spread) and AT kush (forceshot) on random runs one week before iceborne -it is totally possible to not get what you want

The first time i did a pierce pod TD was crazy. Thought i grabbed a dragonpod. Played xenojiva. I was under going for the stomach, and as it flew up i became perfectly centered under it. i knocked it right back down in 2 seconds like wtf just happened. Shit went all the way through from the tail to head.

I trade one spred jewel before iceborne beacuse it was just level 1... and I get one again

This video was highly needed, bows are soooo expensive to build for in iceborne but that's like nothing really new for people who are aware what the weapon needs to be at its peak. I see people juggling between the glavenus and the anja fire bow I still think the anja has great potential the fire is high it has a little more raw and personally after augments the glav only gets like an extra 10 affinity over it. I also think some bows thar need free ammo up can compete with the "standard" meta bows like the thunder ele glav bow raw is so nice despite not having power shots it may be able to still out damage the tobi bow imo but again building for free ammo up on strict bow builds is a lot to ask for, for the time being.

Cesar Brad I feel like that’s a possibility, but even still, Rajang weapons traditionally have comparable affinity to Deviljho weapons, so it still would not be preferable in a critical element build

Jeeze, I feel bad for some of y’all. I’ve got like 15 mighty bows just chillin... almost at 900 hours and other than the new 4slot decos, I’ve got many multiples of every single deco from world. Try using some silver/gold melding tix you get from Steamworks. I’ve noticed even the silver ones give really good ones!

I can't help but wonder, as a Bow/Charge Blade switch hitter, whether primarily using non-elemental weapons for both of them (cough Ishvalda cough) and keeping an Elementless Jewel on means I can amp up both and not have to worry about reshuffling decorations if I'm switching weapons. Especially since the rest of my build is pretty generic and you can't change decorations at camp.

Hi just wanted to say I'm really interested in a theorycrafted Heroics Draw DPiercer set. And/or a Thousand Dragons meme set. A little for the meme value but also cause I've wanted since launch to do a "realistic" roleplay run where I pretend Bow isn't capable of producing thousands of arrows out of thin air. Would use DP only (and possibly TD now) with Ghillie mantle and AC mantle to simulate limited arrows and a fragile realistic-ish human-ish body - then see how few arrows I can use to kill each monster. Also, is elemental damage at all worthwhile on Dragon Piercer? I mean, I know DP isn't optimal but it is very fun. I saw it was like a .35 elemental multiplier on DP near launch and never did any damage calcs, but I'm wondering now if I was wrong.

TA is also great for flinching montsers/breaking parts/cutting tails (yes it works, I tried that). Use the Rajang bow with the Velkhana 4 pieces set bonus for a Frostcraft/Crit Draw/DP - build. I want to do that, but I don't have the decos for that, so farming it is ... And DP does no Elemetal Damage, that's why in the past if people did use it, they used the Diablos bow (and so did I before the expansion). Rajang has an element, but only to prevent his weapons to be too good with the elemtless jewel. Just use his bow as it has the most raw damage in the game and augment it for affinity (so that it has no affinity compared to negative affinity as it normally has) and attack, put in some decos for piercing damage and the ones that boost TA/DP, crit boost (I would recommend the Shara arms for that), attack boost and maybe the part breaker charm if you want to (DP was crazy at breaking parts back in the day, but it got nerved). For mantles would I only recommend the Ghilie if you want to do "speedruns" with this set in the arena, to put down some traps to get some safe whole body piercing shots in. Otherwise use the impact mantle and the rocksteady one - the first to knock the onster out (what you will prolly do and want to do as the best way to use this build is to use the full length of the monster and you will attack it from the front for the most time. You also want the rocksteady mantle to prevent knockbacks, if (and they will) rush into you or mini monsters will hit you). So yeah, this is basically my recommended guide for a DP build. If you want to hunt with me (I think the best combi for this build is to hand with somebody else who uses paralysis weapons, like DB or bowguns, so let us try this out if you are on Playstation), my ID is tigrexfanboy69 Hope to see ya there !-)

So what’s better 4 piece silver rathakos for true Crit element or 2 piece velkana and 2 piece namielle for Crit element and elemental acceleration?

Tenderizer/Physique and refresh/expert jewels add a lot of flexibility to these builds if you have them. Also Expert 4, and Physique 4.

I always told myself then when I get that deco drop I'll make a bow build cause it really does look fun

Any iceborne guide on using the bow? Never used it in vanilla world and now want to try it out.

personally I prefer the kirin chest a+ over the garuga legs. 1 more slot than the rath chest and the rath legs still have 3 slots. kirin chest also has 1 more crit eye than the garuga legs so that's 1 less crit eye you have to slot in, so kirin chest altogether gets you two extra slots for some nice things like health boost or minds eye or whatever. you get the 3 lvls of slinger from the rath legs for lvl5 and a free lvl of divine blessing doesn't hurt either. kirin chest a+ means you lose a lvl4 slot, however you would have your normal/spread jewel in a lvl4 slot anyway, so you can put those in the kirin chest instead and you'd still have same lvl4 slots as before. you lose the two crit boost from the chest, but each crit boost only adds 1 damage per arrow. you can always slot crit boost in if you really want/need it (I have a crit boost/healthboost jewel so slotting might be better for me) but personally skills like health boost are much more valuable. basically you can fit in more skills with kirin chest a+ than garuga legs

I heard somewhere that with the additional augment slots and custom mods that came with Rajang update now the Fulgur Anjanath and the Barioth bows are now the best of it's respective element, is it true? .-.

Hey Phemeto, what do you use to have good stamina regen? Do you pot up (Dash Juice) or just get lucky with palico horn gadget? Or do you find 1 stamina surge and 1 constitution is good enough?

I've been using a crit element and element acceleration for bow because I haven't to unlocked silver rathalos, does true crit element totally out dps that?

It does depending on how good of a player you are. I'm good with the bow but nowhere near speed runner skill. With the silver rath set you have to depend on dash juices and felyne black belt to manage your stamina properly. If you're not really good with the bow then there is a lot of dps downtime to drink more dash juices and if you get carted then you're screwed with felyne black belt. I have both sets and I choose the crit element and element acceleration sets 90% of the time. I run vel head, kirin chest, vel gloves, nami waist, and nami feet. With this set I get pretty much all of the offensive skills of the silver ratholos set but I also get constitution lvl 5 and stamina surge lvl 3. The damage isn't as good as the silver set but the dps uptime I get seems to equal out for my skill level. Hunts take roughly the same amount of time for me with either set. Every once in a while I'll get a flawless run with the silver set and post a hunt time that is impossible to get with the mixed set but that is very rare. The defenses between the two sets is pretty noticeable as well but with the better stamina management of the mixed set it is a lot easier just to dash all over the map to avoid getting hit a lot, but when you do get hit in the mixed set it hurts... a LOT!

serious question: how much damage per arrow is considered high damage? i use silver sol set with garuga leg legiana bow skill: ice6 we3 ce7 cb3 got only 40-50 damage per arrow in normal shot and 50-60 damage per arrow in spread shot. is that high damage?

I have all my ele bows fully augmented plus custom upgrades done(also the extra augments and upgrades that came with rajang patch) and I maybe spent 10-15hs on it total. It's pretty easy and fast, the stuff that takes longest is getting the Guiding Lands to the neccesarry levels to lure the monsters you need, unless you get lucky and find one through SOS that you need, which I did for temp rajang, to finish the new slot upgrades.

So I noticed on the water set you went for water attack 5, and normal shots 2. Wouldn’t water attack 6 and normal shots 1 be stronger?

Can't wait to farm up these for weeks and then have it all invalidated by Kulve Taroth bows... again.

Farming the bows doesn't take very long. It's the augments and the 5 customization mods that take forever. You'll be spending countless hours in the guiding lands if you want to maximize your bows' potential.

GOD! I absolutely hated 90% meta weapons being KT. It takes the absolute fun out of having to farm different monsters for different weapon varieties. I guess Capcom took it literal with "Monster" Hunter and not "Monsters" Hunter and making us pretty much farm only one monster if we want good gears.

If anyone haven't realized.. you can meld mighty bow deco from iceborne melder. You don't have to farm it anymore. Just farm decos casually and meld them into mighty bow. You don't have to farm it for hours now xd

If your window for attack is small (only one combo) yes if it’s larger the go to tends to be (quick> rapid> rapid> rapid> power) remove a rapid if you don’t have mighty bow

Bow is still elemental powerhouse. But it is not the KO king anymore. You can keep monster stun locked in the base game and I miss it. However I understand the nerf because the hammer must be the ko king and you need to git gud now.

I see people throwing "but their damage is so bad" around, where they don't really seem to realize that you still get normal weapon clearing times with a sticky lbg; just with the added benefit of the monster simply not fighting for 80% of the quest. I literally only picked one up to deal with jackasses like Rajang, Kush etc. and 10 minutes for a tempered Kush, with no real threat of fainting and barely any practice at all isn't "bad damage" or "not really good". It's phenomenal dps. I swear you meta-crazies have some issues.

Are there any up/downsides to using garuga legs vs Namielle waist? It seems like a coin flip on which ever I find on speedrun sets

It doesnt really matter, you can make the same sets either way, I just didn't have con/SS decos so I used namielle waist

I've been checking your optimal builds and have a few questions: -Is 2 normal shots better than 1 normal + 1 spread? -Why does the water build (no agitator) only have water 5? -Wouldn't tobi bows be better with no affinity augment for extra element?

His water build I guess didn't have room for it, however if you have an extra lv4 expert jewel you can make it work. In the mean time its your choice between 10% extra crit chance, or 50 extra element. As far as tobi bow goes, with the new update you can get element up 4 and Affinity 1. With 25% base crit you'll only need crit eye 5.

Spread is pretty Damaging if you can hit all arrows. So 15% is still better than 20% on normal ammo. What I don't understand how the heck they get those high numbers. When I use this set I get half when hitting the head lol ( sure not crit but still wtf. ) Also none of those bow sets let you dodge without mantles ( which means on down time I sometimes cart cus I need evasion +3 or extender +2 and evasion 1 )

I have a few questions about your game/builds. Your build on 2:50 isn't legit "Wyrmsbane Charm III with +5 dragon attack. no sir it doesn't give you +5 that is +3, 3:07 masters charm III with +4 nope thats +3, same with your frost charm III with +5 lol. and other charms. soo whats up with that?

There's not tips or tricks as most monsters have unique roar animation times. Go into a fight with it and don't attack, just focus on dodging the road. You'll get muscle memory for it eventually.

You gotta pump those decorations up, those are rookie decorations. It seems rng did not bless you with the tenderizer/physique and double constitution yet. Good luck. However on a different note, whats your opinion for running health boost 3 in bow builds. Eventhough my armor is augmented and fully upgraded, if I dont run atleast hb2 tempered elders can still one shot me. Please dont reply with dont get hit. Thanks.

1,35 for bows CE. I still prefer Velk Nam set than Silver Sol.

I can use a few different weapons fairly good but I really want to know how to play Bow properly from the start & not learn any bad habits. I can use LBG, HBG, Lance, Gunlance, & have a few hundred hunts with Charge Blade & a few others. I mainly play solo hence my weapon choices. I keep the game fresh by learning & making new weapons. Bow is amazing & want to learn properly from the start. I have done a few hunts but it's obvious to me I need experienced help to get all the little nuisances figured out. I have nearly all decos before iceborne which is a big help. Is it possible for you to make a video on best combos, when to do what etc how to play in different situations or monsters etc. Even specific situations like with LBG. Like podding a monsters to get it where you want then sleeping it under boulders etc. The more comprehensive the better. I mean if you made a 5 hour video I would watch the entire thing multiple times, taking notes etc. If you don't want to or don't have the time can you direct me to the best videos to teach & watch as examples etc so I can become the best bow player I can please. Please help this mhw tragic. I am waiting for operations so I promise I will have the time to utilise your videos to their fullest or anything you direct me to if you can't make anything. Yeah SF has always been stronger than RF due to recoil 1 and fast reload, the only problem with it is the ammo capacity. It can be difficult to get through a hunt with pure elemental ammo without RF or Spareshot. it works for sure and its better than RF in the cases that it does

There are a few armor pieces with normal shots you could use. I think one of the Zinogre and Glavenus pieces have it.

Rajang for a better better elemental damage? Never in history has any of his weapons had good elements. It's High raw with very little thunder damage.

Waiting for MR kulve version with high base affinity, raw and elemental. I love it!

are you serious? Those weapons are what killed diversity and limited options in base game. Kjarr and rarity 8 kulve weapons were the best, No reason to use anything else. Everyone using the same ugly gold reskinned crap. We have diversity now in Iceborne with so many weapons from monsters being good, let's not ruin it by bringing back Kulve weapons.

Is the crit draw dragon piercer build just dead now?

I'm sad that raw bows are still booty outside of meme sets, I love the brach bow but it's so weak compared to just running standard crit element. Also the black diablos bow is fkn garbo now, other bows have higher raw and better affinity out of the box. Idk if being rare 10 saves it, but I doubt it.

I think capcom looked at how good they made diablos weapons in the original game and decided to just shit on them in iceborne.

I'm glad that raw is no longer meta so we don't see every fucking hunter in the entire game use the same weapon, and you have a reason to make more than just the obvious best in class weapon.

@@kairu_aname Yeah, I made one bow per element and now it's the huuuuge grind to get the charms maxed for each one. Times I wish to give up and go back to my Greatsword and save myself the torture, but BOW IS SO SATISFYING

was the combo quick -- rapid -- power -- rapid -- power ever a thing in mhw? i've been doing that for the longest time because i thought it was the best combo for bows.

@@remythedude4758 yeah. Its usually the circle button on ps4 in the middle of the combo or the end of the combo

hopefully a raw thousand dragons set is viable cause It's gonna be a pain to use bow in guiding lands..... and yeah, I'm PC and all I'm only following Meta sets and what not. i haven't really looked in to gameplay that much (I think I wont til PC release) so I do not know what archers do when Guiding lands farming.

It is a pain. I mostly switched to using either Zinogre HBG or Garuga LBG in the Guiding Lands so I wouldn't have to constantly switch weapons, and then just use bow on regular hunts.

I wish we had good looking Bows cus right now im not playing the gane simply because i hate most of the options we have... Boy do miss old Bow designs! Silverwing Bow, Narga's old bow (new one looks realistic enough to be weird), etc...

700 hours playtime and I've yet to get a single mighty bow jewel despite maining the bow the entire time.

VeniVidiVici Same, only after 350 hours. Respecced into Lance lately, ofc I’m missing Guard and Guard Up jewels. :)

I see a lot of speedrunner sheet saying fulgur is best lightning bow, but majority of people say kadachi is the best and other saying Zinogre this is confusing for that one element.

500 hr. in world and still no mighty bow deco...

Why don’t use the dragon piercer ?

Sooooo... What’s the best raw damage bow in Iceborne? One of the things I love doing in the game is hunting Bazelgeuse as a target practice for my Dragon Piercer and relive stress. LOL.

From my testing, Luna "Ruin" appears to be the best. Second highest raw tier, 120 Blast, and 2 level 2 slots for versatile set building. Shara's bow has the same raw and is also Elementless, but it only has 1 level 1 slot which limits it's set building potential. Also, Tigrex has the highest raw of all bows as well as being Elementless, but it's total lack of slots and -30% affinity completely kills it.

theguywithnoaccount With tigerx bow you can use crit draw build + level6 crit eye ,you will crit all the time and negate -30 crit

@@BANDEV89 This. With DP builds, there's ALWAYS a way to negate the -30% affinity (easier to do in IB now), and Critical Draw 3 makes it so every DP shot is 100% affinity even on non-weakspots. I guess Tigrex is the way now. How about Frostcraft on DP? Seems like a good skill to pair up with every DP shot you do.

I have crafted all the gear and bows and have the god tier decos aswell, however the problem with bow in iceborne is that none of the meta builds can fit health boost or fortify unlike for example LS, SA, CB and Hammer. And lets be honest, hunting tempered elders with no health boost is not realistic unless you play like a japanese god and fortify is such a QoL in GL. So i end up never using bow...also farming element up for all these bows is way too grindy. Its sad cause i really enjoyed bow in base world.

The bow is probably my favorite weapon but I'll admit I'm not good enough to use it. With the need for soooooo many decorations, there is no room for any survivability skills like health boost, evade window, etc. Maybe one day I'll get lucky and get some lvl 4 combo decos that have health boost but I'm sitting at mr 202 and still haven't gotten anything I can use on my bow builds. The struggle is real.

Dustin Biester True, survivability is impossible on Master Rank multiplayer without Health Boost. These are great for solo. And I’ve played with so many bow players and they always get one shot in Tempered Tier 2, Tempered elder investigations and even in level 7 guiding lands.

I dont think it has anything to do with your skill level. Iceborne Monsters hit so hard, than one tiny mistake, something so small as a wrong step, can get you killed. I never used to need healthboost, now I always do.

Same, I pretty much can't use ranged weapons because they have such necessary decoration requirements that I just can't seem to get despite hundreds and hundreds of hours of playtime, and If i make a set without those decos i lose out on so much damage it's just not worth it. Such a stupid system that there's specific decos for ranged weapons you essentially need to make them viable

Barioth is good, but it has no P.Coats, which hurts its damage

Game is very badly designed, long as you're farming tempered monsters all you can do is pray. Stupidest system to date in the entire franchise, so much worse than previous games and the charm farm

Ice : Barioth bow is the best as you can customize it, more augment slots and has innate affinity, Fire :Silver Rathalos bow is better innate affinity, customizeable (element) and has enough slots for more elemental augs.

Barioth lacks power coats which is pretty significant, and Silver Los has nowhere near the fire damage as glav with augments

You don’t need slinger ammo to use thousand dragons just FYI, your damage will stay the same, but the effects may be different

@@actionpants3138 The pierce pod gives your arrows a piercing property similar to pierce ammo. However with a thousand dragons you are shooting a burst of multiple arrows with the piercing property. If would be the equivalent of unloading an entire mag of pierce ammo 1 in one burst. If you do thousand dragons with pierce pods on a soften weak point, with good positioning you will easily hit over a thousand damage with decent crit. Go test it.

beepist5000 awesome, although thousand dragons with other slinger types doesn’t seem to have much of an effect, with slinger bombs I gain a set explosion that is like 100 damage in addition to my thousand dragons, and with thorn pods it looks like I do impact damage with no change in raw damage, thousand dragons without slinger ammo is still definitely powerful enough to use in a combo and is useful especially among speedrunners to get an easy flinch

182hrs got Mighty Bow Jewel 2 from The Greatest Chungus.

Its really a shame that they made silverlos so powerful, it would be neat if single peaces could provide good stats, but nah, now its mostly silverlos like drachen was in pre iceborne.

After farming for about 4-5 hours I finally got my mighty bow jewel.

yeah it is retarded how you can't exchange jewels/materials with others - would make so much sense and the multiplayer aspect even better than just hopping onto each others quests and that's about it ...
