Burstcannon is actually a pretty significant upgrade over Loyal Thunder if you run multiple shield mods. It's about 15-20% more damage on more defensive builds. A 4th CR mod doesn't add too much to a pure damage build but the flexibility from an extra slot is still really nice. Sleep ammo is also usable on it.

Tell me more about this mad idea of rapid fire slicing that I had no idea I desperately needed until you mentioned it 👀

I have a safi dragon bow with silver rathalos essence and the rest is element 5-6. I have head and coil/waist slot free for namielle that gives you element acceleration and some convenient constitution/stamina surge. Loving it so far. Not sure if the silver rath is better than another element 5, but with element acceleration its like a 10 element difference and even though i dont have any great decos, its way easier to work with than a 4 piece silver rath set.

Sam Ds That was my thought on this, I’d much rather drop a BIT of max damage and be able to level out my consistency with con/stam surge by having the Nam 2 set or just having 2 free armor slots in general. SRath is so good but it’s painfully restrictive

I’m running the same setup with my water bow rn lol. For me to perfect it nicely in my case I need another tenderizer/vitality and another criteye+4 jewel so I can still have HB3 while maintaining lvl 7 criteye and lvl 6 element as well as the cons 3 and stamina surge. My only gripe with 4 piece rath was no space for HB3 without losing crit eye or element lol. I Only have silver rath essence on one bow though so I’m running all ele on my others until I can get silver essence on em

@@Vyxah ye the Rng for silver rathalos skill sucks. I've got it on my dragon, thunder and water bow in under 40 tries each. Just pumped 200 large draculite in the last 2. Still no silver rath on those.

Phem, thx for all the work you do providing the community with this great info. Ive been a big fan for a while now but this is my first question and I ask because I just can’t figure it out...why do you choose to run wex on your elemental lbg builds when the elemental ammo is pierce? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to run max might like you do on your pierce build? Or am I missing something?

Thank you for pointing out that Sticky gun, since I totally missed it. Just built it and having Artillery 5 and TSS with lower recoil than my Rajang lbg blows my mind into space.

Yeah but it feels kinda waste tbh. It's better to go for TSS and Divine Blessing 5 for comfort on Rajang Bowgun. You can fit in Artillery 3 and AB7, Agitator 5 and PP3 for pretty much the same damage cap. Sure you can get lower recoil with this gun but you're sacryficing Divine Blessing 5 which makes playing with bowguns super easy. I'm not sure if sacryficing it is worth it JUST for lower recoil.

I run the same set with the TSS and +5 Artillery. I knockout monsters like 7 times per hunt and my sticky lvl 2 hits 107+48 or something close to that.

@@osirisavra1301 Yes, absolutely. Between sometimes giving you 5 or 6 in a row and generally increasing your ammo reserves, that 30% is excellent. Besides, it's easier to fit attack skills into a Narga set than crit skills without losing much. Try it out, TSS is really killer.

I was relieved when I found out the set bonus mod only counts as one piece. They handled the powercreep really, *really* well this time around compared to the Kulve weapons (not to mention Drachen, the gear so fucking OP that it *STILL* sees occasional use). Sad to hear that Loyal Thunder is "dead", though. I thought it was still top dog. :/

Aaron K. Na, with the new HBG augmented for 1 attack and 2 attack V’s with 2 close range up mods your spread can hit for 40 dmg per pellet on crit. Thing is an absolute monster. No more loyal thunder!!

I would still use Loyal Thunder. Would not just diss it, instead, would awaken other weapon types. Currently working on a Para SA Powerphial build.

What sets do you suggest to fight Safi with? I see your bow set, but im more curious what you would bring for LBG/HBG wise.

The HBG Snipecannon can have the narga set bonus on it with the Zorah on at the same time. Isn’t having true spare shot and Artillery 5 an upgrade?

Elemental Dragon HBG is meta. I'm missing, bit was tempted to get element ammo 2 on snipecannon just to try it. 5 clip is unusually high. The "Bait and switch" is a bit of a melodramatic take. They don't make money off of the base raw being 20 lower

Could you please show the decos you used as well? It's hard to tell how you achieved those skills (LBG elemental builds) when you don't show the decos. Thanks

I understand this frustration, you could try out the honey builder and trial and error to find the setup yourself. I did this with the bow builds. Good Luck

Wtf so elemental ammo capacity does exist? Ive burnt so much dracolite on frostshot and just gave up cause it only ever gives me spread, pierce, and normal capacity.

Personally I plan on running the full Safi set. It’s got so many more slots then Silver Sol does which was my Biggest problem with the set. Plus the weapons all have a free four slot which is super nice

What's wrong with rapid sticky 2s on the aqua shot? They put in work.

I’m a little lost as to why you would stack only element up on all the bows. In the case of thunder my safi bow already has higher base thunder than the tobi bow with only two level 5 and one level 6 element up. The last two slots were silver los essence and level 2 coating. This let me use one less silver los armor so I could use namielle waist. The weapon can also be augmented like a normal weapon for element as well so I’m lost as to why it was stated that the element was only slightly improved on all bows when that’s only true for like the ice bow and dragon maybe.

Josh derp being able to use one less silver loss and getting access to an extra coating is not a slight improvement. Also if I were to have gone all element like he said. Than the element would be massively higher than any other thunder bow. I can definitely see the issue when it comes to dragon and ice who both have stat stick bows like legiana and dragonbone but water and thunder have such low element that it makes little sense to me to go full element and lose the chance for extra perks. In the case of the other bows you’re better off not using them if all your gonna do is run all element. The loss of other coatings can’t possibly be worth all that farming. Actually scratch that. You can achieve the same stats as the Vaal bow on dragon but get access to poison and para while also getting silver los bonus. I legitimately feel as though this may have been a little quick on the draw as far as bows are concerned.

Question: does the Safi pendants change form when the weapon is fully awakened? Or it depends on the weapon type? I mean, the pendant on that bow is so huge and the one I put on my HBG is so tiny.

Also the Acidic Glavenous HH was only seen as the meta HH in the beginning of IB, elemental HH runs have been overtaking raw HH runs since then. It's more like just HBG and Bow that got the balanced part, because the Safi LBGs have completely invalidated *ALL* craftable LBGs by a sizable margin (granted, I'm not going to complain since LBG desperately needed any buffs it could get).

i actually like the RF N2 bowgun. u cant use it against everything, but it has its uses

What about the (non raging)brachi bow that can reach 540+ blast without crit status?

Is slide reload faster or slower than slow reload? Cause my sticky lbg has reload instead of recoil awaken and I'm able to get recoil 2 with slow reload and don't have to slide reload.

It should be faster but it depends on the capacity. For instance, I don't run ammo up on my sticky 3s so that I have 2 ammo, and I run 2 evade reload. It definitely feels faster plus you're moving and there are ways to fix a failed reload .

So on the aquashot you only use Sticky 3 ammo? Lvl 2 ammo is bad? :o

Is the Recoil Suppressor awakened ability bugged or something? I can't seem to roll that ability at all. I've seen every other ability show up several times for LBG's and HBG's except Recoil Suppressor.

Question on my safi bow I have silver essence with affinity 5, element 6, and the coating for the poison and para. An I’m sitting at I think 530 dragon with the augments and charm. How would you rate that? I just replaced the silver gloves with the Stygian gloves

Affinity is unneeded since we can reach 100% with skills, extra coating is also unnecesarry unless you're going for a status/cc build (which you'd want gold rathian instead of silverlos for that) If you want better build customization for extra skills/deco slots silverlos + 4 element (or 1 affinity 3 element if you reall want to push it) would be better. Otherwise, as stated in the video, 5 element is what you want

@@Highspeed357 Can it help? sure, is your bow good?, no. The damage from poison won't make up for damage lost from: A) swapping to coating (which removes your elemental damage if i recall correctly) B) the loss of the extra element from not having that awakening. Paralysis is it good, sure but 20 shots without any other aid (goldian set or para decos) will only give you one paralysis proc if you only account for yourself. With these points in mind you're better off using Dragonseal AldBow 2, for higher element and both para and sleep coating.

So I'm guessing bowgun capacity augments cap at level 3 so I don't waste all my dracolite trying to get capacity 5

I feel like later down the road their may be such an update because the developers did say that the relic weapons for kulve are going to come in to play and be used for some reason later down the road, so yeah saving some mats is like a really good idea.

So for Bows all you wanna do is just throw Element in every slot?

I made a 4x attack5 spread capacity3 fully attack augmented (had one slot left so I put element/status up) So it should be the new Meta unless we can figure out more efficient gear combinations but I honestly don't think the reducing one gear slot will do much

Dan Festag better to use a recoil awakening instead of a 4th attack awakening. Let’s you replace the recoil Bowgun mod with another close range, you get more damage overall.

It depends on the element/status of the weapons. Awakening makes them brighter.

Safis bows are the best once fully upgraded (augments and the new upgrades). Focus on getting thunder first.. it’s the best upgrade overall and safis fire bow is just slightly better than glavenus atm. Glavenus is better against Safi tho.

Gilberto Delarosa safis dragon bow gets to 810 dragon element once fully upgraded, 312 attack + power coatings.

Weird. According to your calculations, Safi should outperform True Crit on elemental ammo. Yet, in game testing indicates the opposite. Tested weapon: Soulfire Roar Styx, lv1 elemental augment. Safi+elemental 6 hits 74 on pole, and True Crit+elemental 6 hits 81. (It takes additional Resentment 5 +Attack 4 for Safi to hit 82.)

thanawat sudruangloet Safi crits 66 on Teo's face, while True Crit Elem crits 74. Both with Element 6 +Critical Boost . And when it comes to LBG, Safi deals the exact same digits comparing to TCE on pole. Don’t actually know why.

Zhar once you reach awakened lvl 23 on any safii weapon, its fully awakened. Not every weapon has the same awakened effects though, so don’t expect your HBG to be as flashy as the bow or LS. Also, you can boost one of those attack V to an attack VI and cap your awoken level at 26

Its a real shame we went from "this is going to be op" to this is just a s side grade" in a matter of just a day I really would have preferred if the update did give us op stuff rather then what we got though tbh because on the out side looking it feels way to underwhelming and the damage difference from past sets isn't even as dramatic as it should have been considering how the siege was advertised to automatically make relic weapons your go to when some other weapons out side the relic pool still beat out the relics even with upgrades, but ehh what can yo do.

No thanks. The issue with Kulve Taroth's weapons was that they outclassed a *lot* of the weapon trees, and a lot of the weapons used were basically Taroth weapons. Now we have weapons that aren't always direct upgrades to weapon trees, and people are still complaining. I'm glad that a lot of these weapons are side grades rather than direct upgrades because that would be basically KT all over again, but worse because of the Awakened abilities.

The balance seems good. Yes it's a lot of work for a slight upgrade or side grade, but that is better than the weapons from 1 monster completely invalidating everything else in the game, which is what we had before.

@@nicksbordone5271 But at the same time Safi'jiva is classified as a "siege" monster which means it should be in a league above other monsters, theres no reason why its weapons as a siege elder dragon. that its tree or weapons should be on par with acidic glavenus weapons it theoretically makes no sense, and yeah ik that's not how a weapon is defined based on the monster it comes from but at the same time again its a Siege elder and should be leagues above other monsters as should its weapons imo.

Normal shot user here ... I weep at safiis weapons ;_; At least the royal guild lbg looks decent for normal 3

@Shasvin Puvanesvaran recoil 2. It could have 20 bullets but it's attack isn't high enough to justify recoil 2. The current guns can out dps it with recoil 1 and they're meh tier On the plus side darkshot is an excellent pellet 3 choice.

Blast has big diminishing returns itself, it could be good on high raw weapons, but bows themselves don't shine on the raw side (which is why we carry several elemental weaps / builds)

Blast is good for breaking parts for area 1-2, but getting the correct awakenings to make it strong takes a lot of mats in my experience, you're better off making a different blast bow (don't know the name)

I'm still dissapointed that they didn't learn from Kulve a lot. Now we have the same looking weapons, that all just slightly differ with a glow. Instead of having weapon variety. Arguably all the Safi weapons are better than any other weapon you can forge. :/ At least they are not all gold, but I don't see a lot of difference besides the customizing part. Why not make the regular weapons viable we worked for. The ones we have since we started. Like in all previous games.

The Freeze/Scorchcannons are good with 3 shield, basically you're invincible with the Safi set.

If you take out one element and put in SLOS essence, you can drop a piece of slos and substitute another helmet, and gem in attack 4 and agitator. Has much higher dps than a full slos set.

Nuke2099 2 damage per arrow when rapids shoot 3 and spreads shoot like what 5 or 6? That makes it a difference of 6 per rapid and like 30 per spread. On top of that most build improvements in this game since day one of base mhw have been incremental improvements of a similar magnitude. The biggest jumps I can think of were the introduction of drachen and at Kulve bows. Which added between 5 and 10 per arrow. And it was seen as astronomical at the time. Remember that gunners do not gain as much damage upfront as melee weapons. They instead gain overall dps. So an increase of even 1 per arrow can result in noticeable dps shifts across the whole hunt. Plus raw damage isn’t all gunner weapons are to begin with. The ability to use one less piece of the silver set gives you better options for gear that can either directly improve your damage or provide comfy skills to even out your build with the added flexibility. The dragon/thunder/water bows can all achieve higher base element than their non safi counterparts with only 2 element 5 mods and a 6. With all of their augments still available and two awakening slots left for what you want. (For dragon I am referencing only the Vaal bow as the dragonbone bow simply has too much element to compete with) In the case of ice I’m just gonna stick with legiana and I haven’t decided on fire as the alpha silver set just works too well for fire and I don’t see it really improving. I personally have the thunder bow with silver los and coating 2 with the rest on element and it’s already stronger than the tobi bow. Once I get a single affinity augment then all the rest can be element/status augment and it’s just better and comfier. Stacking all element would give me more damage but then I’m stuck with only power coating and literally the same armor. Why would I do that when I already get more damage with the aforementioned setup and get armor flexibility plus keep my coating utility.

And everyone on HBG is doing spread (like always)...really wish Capcom had done a better job balancing things so that multiple ammo types felt equally viable. Though the new elemental LBGs plus Safi set should help make elemental LBG more common maybe...

@@kevadu I've been having fun using one of Safi's Normal Ammo guns. I will admit that Spread is much more appealing because of how everything simply melts, but things like Solemn and Zorah's HBG are very fun, especially in multiplayer.

I see maxlevel set bonus just 1 piece and still need other pieces to get the set bonus from armor

why do I get the feeling devs prefer LBG over HBG

always thought HBG should be the tank weapon without that much damage, while LBG should be more of a glass cannon thing, but always felt like HBG had everything in vanilla so maybe they're trying to fix that

Wait, what? They made rajang hbg even after seeing how op sticky was with Vulcan and Solemn. And they made loyal thunder and the stygion hbg after seeing how op glutton was. Hbg is already one of the strongest weapons, we don't need more power creep with spread or sticky. Or were you just hoping for good normal or elemental?

One Element up V is literally better than the 2 piece element acceleration, so never waste the space.

Proof again that Capcom hates gunners(bows not included). 250 raw?!? Very high deviation on lbg?!? Why? You need 2 attack 5 to get back to other weapons damage and now you only have 3 mods to add. After ammo, recoil or reload there's 1 left for either a set bonus, attack or affinity. I'm tired of gunners and gunlance mains being treated like second class citizens meanwhile LS and bow stay powerful as hell.

@@rayzhang7591 I'm mostly complaining about the lbg. Spread is great on hbg, okish on lbg and sticky is good on both until you run out of ammo. I don't use either, I prefer pierce and was hoping for a new RF pierce lbg from Safi. Didn't get one. We did get very high deviation, 250 raw vs the 270 shown in the dairy and what other weapons have and only 5 weapons vs 9 for the melee options. This is just another thing that lbg get treated like a second class citizen in ever since World came out. The RF N2 might have potential and RF water with recoil 1 might be good for the few monsters weak to it but what else? HBG get a new spread 3 choice, GS can hit even more damage now, bows and LS remain OP. If I was a gunlance main I'd feel a bit shafted too but since I'm not I'll leave it for them to complain about.

@@D00MTR33 Yeah, I dunno. I looked at some of the LBG's and they didn't look all that great (in particular the Drak one I believe that had slow reload on like 4 ammo types). I use HBG but I'm honestly not that excited for a lot of what we got. We got a new Spread gun... Because that's what we needed. Another Spread gun to powercreep the 2 Spread guns that we had that powercrept the last Spread gun. We got a cool Normal Ammo gun, or at least cool in my opinion. Might not be better than Nergigante's gun but 🤷‍♂️ I wish they'd buff Slicing ammo. It used to be king but now it's one of the worst ammo types. Maybe they should make some new ammo. Possibly traps?

Auralee Divinus apparently the guild palace lbg is pretty good for Normal 3s but I don't know if it's available. Just nothing from Safi is worth it for normals I guess.

The worst part is that they're actively fucking with us by giving supports stats to the defender light bowgun. They know.

Nargacuga essence is a terrible skill set. Put Charm and trade 2 piece for the skill this charm

15:42 honestly not really liking it a lot. Already burned out on it, practically the 2nd day of release. Mechanics wise yes, it's still better than KT and endless grind but fight/fun wise? HELL NO. I'd take KT fight over this trash anytime. It's the most repetitive boring shit I've ever done on this game lmao. The relics are nice though.

Again and again, all the weapon look the same now. Really well design capcom

@@ayatomoya16bull I dunno, I think they look fantastic?? Especially the gunner weapons, the bow literally has a fire quiver and those black tendrils look badass, the HBG is like a pump action shotgun with wings and energy running through it, and the LBG looks like a claw and has a bayonet! sure, they're all similar colors, but there are still options to choose from, a lot of these aren't entirely overpowered. Styg and Nerg HBGs still work, all the old ele bow sets are still decent (but why would you run them when these look so good??) and other LBGs are still quite damaging in comparison, just with more ammo issues. I think Capcom did an incredible job making the weapons strong but not too strong, look fantastic and having them not be locked behind horrendous RNG
