@King of The Zinger I already find them annoying, despite the fact that they're easy to kill. I don't need no stinking permadeath run. But at least they drop mad health and ammo to compensate

It's not just respecting the original composition, it's the SOUNDS you use. That bassline synth is pure evil and it's wonderful

damn if Nintendo ever does another remake of Metroid they should pay you to use these songs. they're all fantastic.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Nintendo already remade this game. Its called Metroid Zero Mission. And yes, it sounds and plays magnificently. Even with the GBA's fuzzy audio.

One thing I always loved about the original Metroid soundtrack was the eerie mood of loneliness that it puts off. Your covers capture this perfectly!! Good stuff!

considering that this also served as the boss battle theme for Ridley and Kraid, this theme is bone-chilling!

I love how the ascending arpeggio in the background sounds. It's a shame it wasn't included in newer versions of the song

I was a nervous wreck when I got to this point in the game on my first playthrough. You've captured that fear of the unknown in this track.

These are probably my new favorite renditions of M1's themes. Dude you did a STELLAR job, can't wait to check out the Super Metroid playlist.

Nice! This theme's definitely sinister and one of my favorites in the game. It would go perfectly with a horror movie :)

Hardcore sci-fi feel! :) Well, it's a hardcore sci-fi game, so it's worthy of such terrific remake! :)

I've never played the original NES Metroid, but I do have to say the Metroid sprite looks really nice

underrated aspect of this area: while we associate this theme with Tourian nowadays, first time players would have first heard this as the *boss theme*, while fighting Kraid and Ridley. in other words, this area just has the BOSS THEME play in EVERY ROOM. thats how you know youre FUCKED

Of all the Tourian remixes I've heard (including the official versions in Super Metroid, Zero Mission, and Samus Returns), this is the only one that truly captures the sheer terror that I felt when playing the original NES Metroid for the first time. Well done.

wanna play a normal game, 0% at the start, except with the zero suit? ALL ZEROES, *EXCEPT second from the right, top & bottom, put 2's instead of zeroes. through trial & error, i also figured out that if you change the two far right numbers, top & bottom, to the correct combination, youll start with absoluty nothing, not even the power suit OR Maru Mari, in Tourian. Sadly, I no longer remember what to change the last two characters to, on the top and bottom of the far right. All I remember is that the top was the SAME as the bottom.

Metroid's password system is really cool. A guy looked at the source code, managed to figure out exactly how it works and made a write-up at games.technoplaza.net/mpg/password.txt there's also a gui-based password generator: www.truepeacein.space

Forget what I said in the previous video. THIS is a final level. Pure horror. Some people criticise Zero Mission for some things it did, but one thing I absolutely love was how you were forced to deal with the Metroids. You ain't running away, you will deal with them all! I know this may seem like a removal of choice, but I see it as inescapable horror, like you know you may die at the claws of these beasts if you're not good enough.

exactly. the newer releases are basically leaning into horror now. can't imagine why. also a bunch of ideas from the alien series where inspiration for metroid. I mean, Ridley (the boss) is named Riddley (scott, the director of alien)

This is very good! Don't forget the fact that this theme doesn't just play in Tourian, but during the fights against Kraid and Ridley.

Something like this would be in a metroid movie. Unlike metroid metal which would be less acceptable as this. Both are cool. But idk... this works better. Iron man, alien, heck everything is like metroid now.

Dang I hate the Tourian NES metroids they just so annoying when I was so close to mother brain there was a whole gang of metroids there and I felt like OMGGETTHISOFFIDONTWANNADIEIMSOCLOSETOBEATTHISGAMEPLSNOIJUSTWANNABEATTHISHGAMEJUSTDONTGETNEARBYPLSSSS Edit:This really gets the vibe out of me but also gets the same chills I get when I see a gang of angry metroids just appearing to suck the life outta me

The zero mission version is so weak compared to this
