Kraid and Ridley didn't scare me The Metroids didn't scare me much once I got the hang of dealing with them Mother Brain was more annoying than scary THIS SECTION was absolutely nerve-wracking to me because of that timer!

Same here The same also applies to the Escape the Halberd in both KSS (Kirby Super Star) for the SNES and it's remake, KSSU (Kirby Super Star Ultra) for the DS

i fell so many times i got to like 140 before escaping. thought i would fail *the* metroid escape sequence and it was very nerve wracking

that's the cool thing, not everyone is afraid of the enemies, but everyone is afraid of the timer.

The first remix I've heard that kept the part at 0:39... I was pleased to hear it, and the track overall is amazing

metroid has the best soundtrack of any video game.

Half-Life? DOOM? Halo? Metroid is really good, but some of the music is overused.

Just like the main theme, it starts off in a nerve racking minor key that induces anxiety, but eventually gets to a Major key portion that suggests an air of hope that you all be able to persevere.

After failing and falling, I finally make it to the exit with only 18 seconds on the clock. Here's what happened next: -Samus uses the elevator, and goes off screen -Everything explodes, white screen -*GAME OVER* -Ragequit

I actually ran the clock out on purpose just to see what would happen if i didn't get out in time...and that white flash will indeed startle you. On the other hand, losing in Tourian sucks ass, because now you have to grind all six energy tanks, and that can take forever!

@@esmooth919 That's the one flaw of this game, if you get game over, you're fucked trying to get those tanks back. I always used to leave the tank in brinstar as back up just in case.

Just like Nintendo redid Mario and Zelda with live instruments, Metroid should be redone with a real synth.

The Escape was so intense as a kid, and the frustration missing a jump and falling nearly to the bottom again.

I wish other Metroid games had unique escape sequence music, the escapes feel so tacked on nowadays because they don't have their own music, if I made the games I'd keep this as the escape sequence in each game but just mix it up each time, imagine any other Metroid game with this music playing at the end instead? Doesn't that just give it more impact?

I still fondly remember the YTMND still image of the "bomb set", but the creator put "SOMEONE SET US UP THE BOMB!! GTFO!!!!

My only gripe is that the section that plays from to 0:40 - 0:51 is supposed to repeat before it goes back to the main melody. Escape is one of my favorite songs in the game, so that kinda threw me off a bit, but it's a minor complaint considering how you nailed just about every other song.

You're thinking of the Famicom version of the music. The NES version has that little section added.

What they're saying is that that section is supposed to play twice before it goes back to the main Escape Theme, here it only plays once.

Someone needs to find a speedrun and match the music to this as a remix

This part really makes me on edge because of that fucking timer! Luckily, all the times I've played Metroid, no matter how much this part makes me anxious, I've always managed to make it out in time by about 770 or so seconds on the timer. I don't even know what happens when you run out of time in the first place. Whatever happens when the timer DOES reach 0, I never want to risk finding out.

Ya gotta press jump before the D-pad! That spinny shit is not conducive to platforming, no sir

The Nintendo’s synths ARE real. They are true analog synthesizers, with the exception of the DPCM module. They are just from a chip and not from a discrete circuit.

It feels too relaxed to be an escape sequence to me.

Its a shame you didnt repeat the part at the end since it reapeats twice

This more or less kinda takes the tension out of the song, to be honest.
