Metra F40PHM Locomotives
Created on 10/16/21
In this video, we continue to look at various Metra Trains and their unique locomotive rosters. We previously did MP36PH, F40PH, and F59PHI. So we continued this and documented Metra F40PHM Diesel Locomotives. Today, these engines can be seen on Metra’s BNSF Line and the Rock Island District. One of the F40PHM diesels has been rebuilt and repainted into CB&Q Silver Streak colors: Metra F40PHM 211. The F40PHM Diesel Locomotives is another variation of the F40PH series by EMD built in the 1990’s and were given the nickname “Winnebago”. The F40PHMs have a similar appearance to the EMD F69PHAC because of their sloping cab design giving it a “Streamliner” look. There are currently 30 locomotives that Metra has purchased with only one scrapped due to significant damage from a CSX freight train derailment during its rebuild process heading to Progress Rail. Let us know what other diesel locomotives you want us to do a video on. Enjoy the video!

Thanks for watching!
Good stuff, I need to go out and shoot metra more often
I have a question: Is there any difference between the F40PH-2/3 and the F40PHM-2/3 aside from the sloped front?
Metra 211 is the closest from amtrak 450 and 451 because of the paint Scheme and shape
AWESOME METRA EMD F40PHM HORNS

I think it’s because they run on a few BNSF lines.
