Bob's a legend, you need to react to more like War and So Much Trouble in the World. Good reaction dude.

Reggie is a music style. Brother Bob is The Rasta man, a spiritual lifestyle, in a cloud of smoke. "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery" that line contains a real spiritual key. Nice reaction, it is great hearing from someone who has taken the time to develop a coherent train of thought. It is refreshing these days.

You can also attribute the "Amancipate yourself from mental slavery" is to stop thinking of yourself as a slave. If you see yourself as a victim, then you will be one.

Awesome. I would recommend One Drop, Catch a Fire or or Buffalo Soldier next from Bob. Roots, Rock, Reggae for some more pop/vibey stuff. So many other artists worth checking. For roots, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, YellowMan. From there, much like metal with thrash, speed, etc, Reggae starts going into Dub, dancehall, hip hop, with too many people to name.

He wanted to make this a reggae song but the message was much clearer as an acoustic song.

Love this song. “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery…. “Think you may have listened to the wrong version of this song. There are better live recordings I think. Glad you liked it though. Def one of my favs.

I get the bob Dylan comparison. I would definitely consider Bob Marley to be Folk artist who just used Reggae music.. when Bob Marley hit and crossed over in the United States 80% of Americans didn't know what Reggae was. But he won over America and really the world with his emotion, his unique voice and most of all his sincerity

May i recommend your checking out the tune "Well Pleased" (Disco Mix version) by Aston Family Man Barnett and the Wailers (Bob Marley band members) By the way... This isn't Bob Marley singing on this version...

I don’t know if Marley personally knew Marcus Garvey, but he was definitely very influenced by Garvey’s thoughts, he even mentions Garvey in some songs (Kinky Reggae is one I think)
