In the Singer performance he was ill with fever and sore throat- he said his throat felt like broken glass while he was singing- and the doctor told him not to sing high notes, and of course he did anyway. The 2nd performance was only a few months later, but he was in good health then and his throat was not hurting. I love both, and thank you for reacting.

Remember that Dimash was sick with his throat in that presentation of The Singer (February/2017) and that Bastau concert was in (June/2017). now fully recovered, without the pressure of the contest and with more time to prepare the song, since in The Singer he only had a week. Han Hong, is a well-known songwriter and singer in China. She was deeply moved by a serious cable car crash in 1999 that fell to the ground in Guizhou Province, China, with loss of life. One child survived and she adopted him, continuing the path of her parents who sacrificed themselves saving the life of her two-year-old son on that fateful day. She composed the song from the child's perspective in which she honored her parents for the sacrifice. Dimash picked up that story, which she had been listening to since she was a child, and dramatized it with her voice and her humanizing spirit. She here she left the dramatic lyrics of this beautiful song: DAYBREACK: Greetings from Panama.

👉 Second: After returning from the Singer competition (2017, China), the Kazakh government was so impressed with Dimash's success that they sponsored Dimash's first solo concert entitled BASTAU. In preparation for the concert, Dimash worked so hard that he lost a lot of weight. His family was very concerned.... but the concert was great. It blows your mind!

The second performance was just a couple of months after I believe. Both were from 2017 and that year was really busy for Dimash. Yes this was his sold out huge concert Bastau. Dimashs concerts are epic, there are some on his official KZread channel including his 2019 New York concert in the Barclay Centre. Its there in 2 parts, there is also his Almaty concert in Kazakhstan in 3 parts from last September 2022 as well as a few other. You haven't seen the real Dimasn until you see him in concert. He made this last performance during his first solo concert Bastau in 2017, a few months after his participation in the program I'm a singer. Since he was very ill during his first performance of this song, he was not able to perform it as he wanted and did not want to worsen his condition and preserve his vocal cords to be able to continue the competition. During his performance at his concert, he gave everything to do justice to this magnificent song. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you react to some of his performances during this competition, you will realize that he had nothing to envy to the other participants, he surpassed them all. Thank you for making me relive these beautiful moments, I had not seen them for a long time. A DEAR from Canada🥰❤

Oh, I am SOOOOOO glad that you saw this video where you saw the contrast between both performances. He actually performed this in the same year. The first one is at The Singer, the second is at his Bastau concert when he went back home from China early that year, and then in June, he did the Bastau concert. I truly think the difference is that, even though the performance at The Singer was exceptional, he didn't give it as much power as he wanted to because of his illness, but then performed it to the max at the Bastau concert. One thing: Dimash is not only loved because of his voice. He is loved so strongly and so fiercely by us Dears because of HIM. His soul, his passion, his humbleness, his goodness, his wisdom, his intelligence, and his loving generosity. If he didn't have all of those other components within him to inspire us, I really don't think so many people would be so enamored with him. I swear he's an Angel that was sent here to give us hope, bring us love, and guide us to be better people. I agree with James. When you do review Autumn Strong, and you SHOULD, search Dimash Autumn Strong with subtitles, then look for the one that says "Dimash translated:the true story behind Autumn Strong with English subtitles" posted by G Wu. I sobbed so hard the first time I saw that whole video because it set the story and it's so sad. PLEASE respond to that one! Always love your reactions to our beautiful Dimash, John! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

The singer performance was definitely good but subdued in comparison to that amazing 2nd act. The story is so tragic and Dimash’s voice carries the heartbroken little boy voice to a cry. It is a tradegy that he created a classic. You’ll be happy to know he has many more phenomenal creations. Great reviews 🤗🤗🤗🤗 don’t forget Ave Marie and now my mind blanks. 🤗🤗🤗😘 18:50

The one thing they didn't show was how sick he was, which they do on the Gloria Wu version. He literally had no voice! The injections managed to give him a voice for the performance but it was gone again immediately after. The worried expressions on the faces of the other competitors was because they were so worried for him. One of them even bought him a Chinese medicine that is more expensive than gold. It speaks to his character when someone who is so far above you vocally is not envied or treated as a competitor but much loved by everyone and treated as a beloved little brother throughout the show.

Thank you May for suggesting this, there was actually slight differences in the Singer competition than I had seen , mostly of the audience. Considering that Dimash could barely talk, he did an incredible job at The Singer performance, but it’s difficult to watch knowing how much pain he was in and how nerve wracking it had to be. The Bastau concert version takes away my heart, even the water falling behind him, I see the child sobbing, his clothes looked like something a little boy would wear, then the emotion, just heartbreaking and beautiful. Thank you John, I really appreciate your reactions, especially to Dimash 😅, you have a wonderful appreciation of Dimash and it’s very enjoyable, some reactor’s don’t feel sincere ❤.

John, your reaction was so sincere and heartfelt. I'm glad that you found both versions together in one video including an in-depth explanation of what the song is about. I remember, when I was watching his performances on The Singer 2017, how much he struggled with his voice that week. I'm so glad that the doctor was able to get Dimash's incredible voice back just enough to be able to sing the song. His performance, though subdued (for his vocal prowess), was full of power and emotion. The doctor told him no high notes...of course, he didn't listen...hitting that G5 belt and other high notes. The Bastau version was Dimash at 100%. 😮 Daybreak is one of my favorite performances from Dimash. The contrast between The Singer and Bastau is incredible. Both versions are fantastic. It goes to show that, Dimash at 60% vocal ability is still better than everyone, wow.

Heartbreaking. The Singer show is first class all the way. Nothing second tier with only the best in maestros, musicians, backup singers, directors, technicians and production teams all working to bring together the songs and performances of contestants to stage week after week. I’m so grateful and happy you reacted to both versions. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. If you like you can see the whole issues with his soar throat in this link. Gloria Wu: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p4x7qJmvl6i_e84.html However, the video has a dropout towards the end. So don’t panic. Nothing is broken😁 It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. The version from his Bastau concert was in the same year 2017. This performance is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Hola 👋 John!! Un gran concierto, donde canta, Diva Dance cómo núnca, All By my self, y otros, y no te das cuenta. Saludos y bendiciones!!!

Yes. There was a cable car in China that crashed down, as a result of being over-filled fell, killing 14 people. One young couple held their infant son above their heads, sacrificing themselves for their child. "Daybreak" is the lament of that young boy for the parents he'll never know. The song's creator later adopted that young boy. The first time I heard this song was the rendition in the Bastau concert. It made me cry though I can´t understand chinese and the video had not subs. The second one

I love this song, and I love this performance (Singer) as painful as it looked for Dimash to sing. And I love the other contestants, you can see the concern in their eyes and the relief when he is finished. Also if you check the longer version of All By Myself, episode 9 of Singer, you'll see one of the Singers say, oh he looks much better this week (commenting on how Dimash looks as he goes on stage). I think the difference in time is about 3 months. Bastau is his first stadium concert. 40,000 people. I agree, I felt the Bastau performance of Daybreak was a reattach for what the Singer version should have sounded like. What this video didn't show you was the doctor told him not to sing high notes, then he amended by saying, sing as high as your comfortable to sing. His low notes were lower at Bastau and clearly his high notes were super clear and higher.

There is a big difference indeed. In the SINGER, he was so tense to the extent of wondering if he would not loss his voice in the middle, coupled by the pressure by that phone call he received from Han Hong who told him not to disappoint her.

I’m so glad you got to see both performances of this song. This song absolutely wrecks me. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve listened to it and seriously it’s still hard not to just sob. I love both performances but honestly the less polished Singer one is my favorite. I think there’s an element of raw pain in it that is literally coming from his physical pain that just makes the gut punch that much harder. Him fighting through the pain to sing a song that has to be the deepest most fundamentally painful yet still precious memory for that boy (precious because it’s the last memory of his parents and is one that is proof of how much he was loved). The Singer performance for me is more potent because of its imperfections. I love the second one too. It’s beautiful and I feel like it was cathartic for him to be able to sing it the way he wanted to. Fate gifted us both versions. This is one of my absolute favorites of the songs he does. I was looking forward to when you would get to this one and I was keeping my fingers crossed that you would watch both versions. Thank you!

Thé Bastau concert was shortly after the Singer competition in 2017. Watching Dimash in his early career, he performed SOS , eg, for the first time over 10 years ago. While he has been able to fine tune (not a play on words😊) his voice and performances, many of his songs that we currently listen to have been in his repertoire for years. His unmatched talent has been there from the very beginning; the rest was dedication and hard work.

I still can't believe the way he sang the song at "The Singer" competition despite his vocal cords problem. It must have been hellish. He skipped a couple of runs that we only knew of because of the next time he sang it! He proved that Dimash at 60% was still better than most singers!

The Singer performance and the Bastau concert performance were actually the same year 2017. The real difference between the two performances is that one was on a competition show with all the trappings of that and the Bastau performance was his own concert. He had been sick and nearly lost his voice on the same day that he performed this song on the Singer competition show.

What a great reaction, thank you!! ❤❤ There are a few songs of his that truly needs the back story to fully understand why he's so emotional during it and the lyrics and this is one of those. Well done John!! While he's physically better and he's more dynamic at Bastau, my favorite is still The Singer performance just due to the hardships he went through to do it and handle it so phenomenally. These were done within the same year. 🤗❤🤗

What a treat. Usually reactioners do one or the other version and miss either the meaning or the Bastau version. The whole Bastau concert is great. It was his first big stage concert after Singer. He showcases a few other singers since it's his first. But it's a good show. Thank you for your fine reaction as usual. You are a Dear no doubt about it. Nowadays I've got another way to size people up. One is, if dogs don't like them...another is a cheap tipper ...the other is they don't like Dimash.

Thank you for your reaction. I love Daybreak both versions. But did you know that as far as I know he has never sang it again after Bastau. There is another song that I have only heard him sing once and it is Okinish it’s about a break up. Most people think that it’s very personal to Dimash but of course he would never talk about it. All you have to do is type in Dimash Okinish (Regret) as I don’t how to find a link from an iPad. 😊😊

My favorite " Daybreak " performance from a Bastau concert 2017 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥 . The difference between the two versions is a couple of months , but Dimash was sick on a " Singer " . I love both of the performances . In the first one, the pain was more real ( because of the illness 😢 ) . The second one is just FIRE 🔥 😍 🔥, like a cry for help from a child who has lost his parents . I adore this song , sad but full of hope . Thank you for the reaction , John .
