Tell the guy not to walk barefoot in his backyard for a couple of years. Nibbler droppings are vicious

Insurance wants 4 ft space between the roof and any trees. It's a pain in the ass for sure.

Do you provide an annual roof-trimming service? Or, will you provide the homeowner a Milwaukee nibbler to do it himself?

I don't think you're supposed to have trees near metal roofs, i personally wouldn't even want one that big near my house

Out of curiosity how does it perform if you're tring to take off a mere 1/8" of metal instead of a big piece?

Not great. A nibbler isn't designed for that. It will tend to walk off the sheet. The width of the punch is more than ⅛" by itself

Cut the dumb tree down. That tree will cause huge problems in the future. Leaves, roots, and just the tree getting bigger will make the building unsafe.

Niblers are so much fun. Or of curiosity, do you need to do anything to treat the newly exposed to the elements edge along the cut line?

You never want to cut two layers at the same time. When cutting two layers you stop using the sharp tool blades to cut and are now using the sheet metal roofing layers to cut. It will kind of work but you will cut the life of the blades so much

The positive thing about hand tools when applicable as opposed to cordless/power tools is the hand tools don't need 3 monthly tag and testing(costly-Aus), usually can be disassembled and resharpened regularly, they don't fail if rained on or have been wet, no one's out to steal them when you turn your back because you can keep them on you and you only need to buy 1 good one instead of replacing from failure every few years, usually no one's going to ask to borrow, inexpensive compared to electric, much lighter and it's not going to boil your blood from vibration, keeps your muscles toned if not buffed, you don't have to worry about battery recharging or no power supply, The negative is the work takes a little longer(which is compensated with payment by the hour). WTF

We have a metal roof like like this with trees directly above it for about 15 yrs now. There’s never been any significant damage. Sure we have to clean it a couple of times a year, but nothing major. It’s still going strong.
