@@Franz. I would have disagreed and said that this should be called the Merc-sama, but the interior quality isn't really that great and the engines are quite weak compared to some other pick ups.

The V6 engine is also used in the navara

Hope the updates to the x class will fix these issues cause if your paying the premium for the Mercedes badge you should get Mercedes quality inside. It’s still cool though.

@JazzFunkSouldier keep telling yourself that. There is a video of an owner pointing out the Nissan and Renault stickers and stamps on his Xclass and it basically covered the entire vehicle, he admitted its just a Nissan in an expensive dress

@@interceptor-ss8kb and the panels are all diffrent, discs all round on the Merc, the tubs are smaller on the Nav the body is 70mm wider on the merc, as is the track.

Pretty embarrassing that Mercedes would actually release a vehicle like that with their badge on it. Why did they bother, its hideous and in no way, shape or form premium.

It's a Nissan Navara with a Mercedes badge and a Mercedes interior. So really a Nissan. So not posh.

Why would anyone in their right mind would buy a Toyota diesel in this day and age. They are pretty well know for DPF issues where i live.

X Class is NP300 Navara based. While the SUV version is Nissan Terra.

Remember People this is just a prototype they are studying if a premium pickup truck segment exists and i think now even mercedes benz saying it has cancel it but wait for 5-7 years they will show the 2nd gen with an all new platform and no shared components to lesser brands

hard scratchy plastic holds up better to mud and crud than soft touch plastics and leather.

Cadillac is the only premium brand in the world that pulled off a true "Luxury Truck" with the Escalade EXT. It's got such a unique shape and look to it.

If this comes in the states i reckon it will do very badly.... First choice ford f150?

This x class pick up truck overall full mixing beauty 😂😂😂

Honda took the Pilot and made a Ridgeline, and it was an instant hit. Mercedes could have followed the same formula and made a pickup from the GLS-Class SUV. North American buyers would go crazy for it.

People forget this is a pickup truck. Yes the price is a bit ridiculous compared to the actual Nissan, but the reviewer surely can't expect leather all over and soft touch materials especially if its expected to be doing light to heavy duty jobs.

Excellent Review... let's leave the pickups for Americans and sedans for the germans. The Japanese can have the economical versions of both

if it’s a pickup ur probably not gonna want the materials to be too premium because it’s meant for work which eliminates the complaint of cheap plastic

The Interior Is not what you might except from a premium pickup. It should feature soft touch materials rather than hard plastics

I always wish Carbuyer would somehow show us how the dash and interior look from the driver's seating position. It would make it clear how the interior presents itself to the driver.

Travis McQuaig at least they were somewhat luxurious. This is expensive yet still basic, nasty and poorly made just like a lot of Nissan/Renault cars... except this one has a star on it.

People fail to understand Daimler and nissan have a partnership in automobiles you cannot pinpoint the issues in a cabin just because it's a mercedes. Mercs are solid cars and most parts if not every part is environmentally friendly bar emissions...most parts can be recycled in a mercedes whereas other brands who normally spend more on quality cannot have their parts recycled .... in that aspect you have to give credit where it's due. .. audi and bmw use more resources to build quality stuff but their cars are slightly cheaper than mercs. They're definitely operating at a loss just to compete with Mercedes... by the way I own a bmw 3 series and I love it... but have to say the truth...

Think of it this way you can use Nissan replacement parts they are much cheaper

Should have just branded it as an Infiniti if it's 50/50 Nissan Mercedes

With this price, merc should use their own engines

might as well get a cheaper nissan navvaro pickup and slap a mercedes badge on the front and rear grill!!

Nissan and Mercedes should develop new high performance sport car to rival the BMW Supra

this is no mercedes, a RAM is way posher, cheaper and offers way more equip!

P B you can import ram, even with the VAT it is cheaper than the benz with way more tech, v8 engine, and better quality

Only a fine luxury brand like Mercedes-Benz could make a truck and make it better than every American truck. And make it at its own time without ford and Chevrolet always copying each other. When Ford redesigned the F-150 Chevrolet had to redesign the Silverado. Same with the 2018 mustang and now Chevy is redesigning the camero🤨. It’s a lovely truck and I would rather drive this than every other truck on the market

Yes pick up trucks can be "posh" all of the higher end trims of the bigger American trucks are pretty freakin luxurious and pricy too

Badge appeal = snobishness. At least 90% of all these features are available on the Nissan Navara Tekna doube cab for far less money, even the V6 diesel engine - a friend has one for his work horse.

The Nissan Navara seems to look better than this. To be honest the new Mercedes look also does not look good on the Navara. Also, this being a Nissan based Mercedes. Probably will be the most reliable Mercedes 😂

I’m not a huge fan of the interior the screen has bulging bezels which is not Mercedes at all. I wish the Mercedes X-Class was a bit more, Mercedes...

I was expecting much more. But merc really missed the bullseye here. that crap between the infotainment and the climate control switches what is that about. they could have put more luxurious back seats such as more climate zones. the outside is good. could have also done like the moon-roof like the f150. The rest is good i like the electronics and technologies we lack here in SA such as auto park and 360 camera system and so on. if they plan a next-gen. there is much more they can do.
