There is a ranger raptor and a Dakar spec Hilux I think, but those are specialty type Utes tho. These ones are the most widely available and common spec ones with similar pricing (except for the x class)

Would loved to have seen a test with some weight in the back but another great vid nevertheless

Ranger has a 3.2L diesel too. Hilux also has a better spec version. This 3.0 V6 from VW is a beast. Even the new generation 3.0 power stroke diesel from ford may not match the vw in sheer power. Not a apple to apple comparison. Ranger weights too much for among the cars 2.2 tonnes?? Is still ford is making cars with cast iron??

If this is a contest of price and durability. The Hilux backflipping all of them. Surreal durability for the price. I have one, for the last 8years, every single week it's going to carry 1tonne of load at least once a week. The verdict? It still a good one, minus less acceleration now after all the wear of usage, torque not a problem.

I think they tested the most common spec with close to similar pricing (except for the x-class). The ranger raptor and bigger engined Hilux would fare better as they should but would also cost a lot more than most in this video

haha I love it. Some always complain "why would you drag race a pickup" "why not this, that,how much can pull" blabla... because FUN. Reviews are everywhere, specs sheets as well. If youre a carguy youll understand. As well it is practical,since as carguys we drive a bit more "spiritedly" and we can observe where we stand IRL against competitor brands. Showing us these cars from another perspective and having a bit of fun with them is entertaining. And drag races are always entertaining, be it pickup,lambo or lawnmower :) .

ChopStickZero most people use a truck as their daily driver and won’t haul or tow every single day. Performance/safety would matter to those people no different than it would with a car. I don’t tow constantly and the majority of the time I would like the truck to drive worth a damn. I’m all for drag races and brake tests. Just because it’s a truck doesnt mean it has to be slow like a big rig.

Please race the Tiguan 2.0 TSI HL R Line against its competitors , keen to see how it fairs against others seeing that vw amarok won this by miles away.

I doubt it, considering it is a Nissan Navara, so effectively a Renault also. It’s shameful, even some other Mercedes have Renault parts in them, I found an A Class with Renault logos on plastic parts in the engine bay.

@@japanluv Toyota and bmw are in a some kind of cooperation, as far as I can remember latest Z4 and upcoming Supra share engines and some other essential bits, but one of em is a coupe while the other is a convertible to prevent them from clashing

Man, you should look up the cost on maintaining a Toyota pickup truck, when they break (which isn't often) they are expensive and complicated as shit to repair. The Toyota tundra and Tacoma in the states are a bitch to replace even something as simple as the spark plugs. If that Ford was an Ecoboost I totally would have put it above the Toyota.

Don't have money for en over price hilux.. got a l200 for 11 year.. no problem..

Test without meaning, they should have done a test climbing difficult terrain with 500kg in the box

They don't need to because these are the only engine options available. None of them have a V6 like the Amarok.

What about the 2.8 Hilux and the 3.2 Ranger against the 2 liter BiTurbo Amarok. They’re evenly matched when it comes to horsepower and cylinders.

Thats kind of a dumb comment. In no comparison test do all the cars have the exact specs. Its all about how manufacturers execute an idea, and who does it best. Cant fault VW for having a V6, the other manufacturers figured they didnt and got battered. I suspect in an offroad test the Hilux might have won, but thats just how it is

Hilux in 1980 : I can fall from 8 stories building getting drown in sea for all day and still alive. Hilux now : please not a speed bump

lol Hilux is an absolute legend though, you just don't trash talk a Hilux, everyone knows that's a rule. But I don't understand why that Hilux was chosen for this kind of video? That's like an entry level Hilux. They should have taken a Hilux 4.0 TRD, sitting on V6 with 236 horsepower. Or maybe they couldn't get their hands on one of these
