    Something to keep in mind for the S600, apparently it will not be compatible with E10 Fuel which is being introduced here in the UK from this year. E5 will still be available for another 5 years after the introduction of E10.

    @@raycroal don't worry...E10 have 10% ethanol witch is an alkohol.....is like a vegetal gasoline....the only problem with Ethanol is that it can acumulate water in the tank....so you must do every time full tank !! You must not let the tank take air from outside....you are lucky becouse the W140 have the gasoline tank in the car ....my E38 is under the car and tends to rust at welding points....and E10 helps that....but i do the same....full tank and don't let it drop below 3/4 or 2/4 ......and anather advantage the W140 and E38 have...is that those cars have good material on the ingection sistem......sorry for my english...not so perfect 😄😄

    Nice video. M119 is the perfect mix for me. Easy to work on, extremely reliable and has the perfect power to weight. I have no problem with the 320 but most people who have them tell me they wish they had at least the 420.

    Most people say that but I found the 320 to be adequate for the car not sure if in the US it is restricted in anyway but here they have 230bhp which pulls the weight absolutely fine

    I will pick facelift one with heated seats, soft close, parking sensors, monoblock wheels, and Black or Gray Leather. Also 5.0v8 4.2v8 or 3.2 m104 Long Wheel base will be preferred but not mandatory

    Owned S320 as well as S500. For daily use I prefer my 1998 300 (OM606)Turbo diesel. Sufficient power and very economical, loads less power train maintenance. My current one is Black opal, black leather, electric seats and heated (no memory), Sound system, it had nav/RDS but swapped it for newer set up/head unit, ADS (skyhook), which is great when maintained and functioning, ASD/ASR ( I believe this is standard on Diesels), Rain sensor, which is a good option, Burred walnut wood, which I prefer over the standard, and Xenon, which is much better than standard light. Soft close is nice, don't have it on current car, but with a well maintained and adjusted door, the mechanical sound of it closing is satisfying as well. Going for a later one just for the 5 speed newer auto box is worth it (outside of the wiring issues) It is just a much more comfortable car.

    Not many Turbo Diesels here in the UK but I know of someone who has done the conversion to an OM606. Personally I'm not a fan of Diesels but they're definitely the most economical option on these and will probably last a lifetime.

    @@2broken2rusty Not sure about the UK, here on the continent they are pretty common. And yes a petrol engine is a bit more refined perhaps, although the OM606 for its time was an excellent engine, and still is today. The earlier 350 (OM603) were a bit underpowered and more noisy, especially with the old 4 speed gearbox. The noise levels on a 606 are a bit higher during warm up but when it comes to highway long distance travel equal to petrol cars. And getting between 800 to1000 km's between fuels stops on long journeys is a nice benefit. It is more then 20 years on still an excellent car, if you are willing to put up with keeping it in good condition, there are very few cars that match the ride quality, comfort and experience. I was an Dealer MB tech in the 90ties, which makes it easier to own, they are complicated cars but overall quality is very good, and when you are not capable of doing the work, it is a good idea to find a specialist/MB enthusiast. Good luck with your car(s) and your channel.

    Great video man. parking sensors are a must on such a big car, iv tried to park it without them. bloody nightmare. also i think some of the cars came with a primitive version of sat nav and a rear fridge (coldbox). best of luck with the land barge.

    I would pick a straight six engine. It's easy to work on, less things to go wrong. M104 3.2 l engine is a reliabe and powerful enough.

I know all issues 😁😉 but I don't mind at all. But for long run and and some other safety options and the most important is computer friendly I would take 97 model. It is trade at end.

    Good review! I have a 1999 S500 in brilliant silver. It has not parking sensors which sucks. Why did you slam your boot since you have soft close?

  • @2broken2rusty

    @2broken2rusty

    3 жыл бұрын

    The springs have weakened so they're not very good at holding the weight of the boot up. So even letting it go from half way up ends up slamming it closed. Another thing on my list!

    I just bought a 99 s320 LWB with 150k miles. Most of the time it runs smooth but every now and then when leaving a stop sign I lose a lot of power and it doesn't want to shift out of 3rd but if I put in neutral and back to drive I have full power again. Could this be a misfire from old wiring harness?

    @@2broken2rusty yeah you saw the advert too? is spotted the silver one with monoblocks and thought it might be you. i have seen a few 420's in uk but they are fairly rare there is a long wheelbase 420 for sale in england just now blue pre face lift. i have drove the m113 430 and m113 500 and i have to say they have different natures the 430 has a higher compression ratio and it makes the 500 feel a bit de-tuned in comparison although it does have shed loads of torque, i wonder if the m119 are like that too.

  • @2broken2rusty

    @2broken2rusty

    3 жыл бұрын

    I've had both the M113 500 and M119 500, the difference wasn't that noticeable between the two S class's as the 20bhp less on the new S class was probably offset by the lower weight of the car. Both have a decent amount of torque!

  • @raycroal

    @raycroal

    @@2broken2rusty i think the m113 has the torque a lot lower down than the m119 but i do wonder if the m119 420 feels a bit sportier than the 500 as it has 11/1 compression like the e50 w210amg motor but a 500 has 10/1 compression
