    This just shows that manual 911 is a very fast car in the right hands. Porsche should be the last car to give up their manual especially on a gt3. Truth is, I can't blame the business too much, its really the customer that decided.

    Torrey B Don't count on it. The GT3 did not, and all across the board, the supercar makers have stopped using them. You can't get a single supercar with a manual. There's only a handful of sports cars that has it and some of the budget high power cars, but no cars in the class of cars like the Porsche GT's, Fezza's ect.

    I say next challenge should be NOBLE M600 vs GT2 RS. The Noble cars are seriously underrated. They are probably the best bang-for-your-buck supercars available and offer the most pure driving experience. We're talking about a car that has about 650 HP and no ABS lol.

Check out some reviews of the Noble M15 and M12 or any other cars and you might see the light that a lot of cars (whether more expensive or less) can take an apex better or just as good as a Porsche.

    Andy ingram Yes. I would say, I don't need any other gearbox in my life, since I don't drive pickups, vans, limos or other big cars, which are nice with auto. I would like to have my f-type, 458, maserati with manual gearbox, because it is just better. But what do we have here - cars, that have these stupid heavy gearboxes are slower than porsche with manual. I know - it doesn't mean a lot, but this image, of a racer with paddles ruined sportscars. Even 4c have paddle shift gearbox - why?

    TheScarecrow Sadly, this is an opinion of vast majority of today customers ... They are lazy, they don´t know how to drive manual (there is actually proof on the internet about this), and they want those superhypercars to be everyday-usable and driveable even for they blonde young wifes ... And - auto-makers need to have numbers, sellings and LOTS of money to keep them alive .... It is just one of those circles that you cannot get away from. Sadly, they listen... Sadly - numbers are playing the main role. Numbers are killing emotions. Numbers are killing the definitions of old-school driving ... New cars are more comfortable, bigger, better fuel consumption, maybe cleaner (don´t think so) and useable for everyone. Comparing old to new on numbers - old 35/100 - new 80/100 ... But those are just numbers... I´m done here and I´m gonna take my 18 y/o Suzuki Baleno to mountains, don´t care that I did not reach 100 between corners ... I just know, that I have to be precise with every heel-n-toe and downshift and braking and non-sharp steering. I just know that it will made my day everyday, just because I will beat it to death, even if I will be slow... I´ll sweat all over, hear many things from the car all over and also get some info what is my car actually doing (or trying to do). End

    Every time I see a gullwing SLS of in any of it's incarnations, I always sigh a little about the next gen SLS-type GT car is going to have the same basic shape, but no gullwing doors. When/if I decide to get myself an SLS gullwing, I'm gonna have to try to find a certified pre-owned one in the exact spec that I want it :( Darn, euro-side impact regs. The gullwing cars have explosive bolts allowing for an easy egress from an SLS gulling that's landed on it's roof, so it's down to side-impact regs killing off the gullwing doors that made the SLS a near perfect modern-day homage to the 300SL gullwing Mercedes of the '50s. But I really can't imagine Mercedes not being able to pass side-impact regs because of the gullwing doors while cars like Lambos, McLarens, and Koenigseggs being able to with their non-conventional ways of having their doors open. If something is lacking with the side-protection of the gullwing doors, it seems like it would be an easy fix for Mercedes. Unless of course, like I suspect, Mercedes are going to stop with the gullwing doors to keep those model years rare. Who knows? But at least the ones that were made were actually made and sold. I'm sure if I decide to when the time is right, I'll be able to find a certified pre-owned example of an SLS in the color combo and spec that I want mine to be. Maybe even a super low mileage one. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. But again, thank you to Mercedes for giving us these years of SLSs with gullwing doors that are near perfect modern-day interpretations of what the Mercedes 300SL gullwing cars of the '50s were. And what Mercedes really needs to do alongside of the all-electric SLSs that they're making is create a hyrbrid-hypercar to join the club that the McLaren P1, the Porsche 918, and Ferrari LaFerrari belong to. That would be a sight. Something hypercar-ish like the Mercedes McLaren SLR, but hybrid like those cars I mentioned. Again, that would be something.

    It doesn't make any sense how a big AMG muscle car can go around a track like that. I love Porsche, but an AMG Merc has a serious bad ass factor about it. It even sounds badass if you say oh I drive an AMG Mercedes. I can't explain it. It takes all the air out of the room or something. It makes such a statement.

  • @VirusTornado

    @VirusTornado

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Vizenz121 It takes all the air out the room? lol dude. Also, this isn't some random AMG kit. It's a Black-Series AMG. The Black Series differs considerably compared to the "regular" SLS. Many testers felt the regular SLS was more of a muscle car, and it is. The Black Series was completely reengineered and re-tweaked to deliver track prowess. Irregardless, it simply can't match the GT2RS's sheer excitement.

  • @Vizenz121_OR

    @Vizenz121_OR

    VirusTornado I feel like the SLS Black is still a muscle car. It's too muscular and upright for a sports car I think. The Black Series is still the same car, just with a higher redline and multiple performance differences to make it handle better. In terms of sheer excitement, that's an opinion. Different customer bases. The SLS in general though really has an impact on me that the Porsche doesn't. I hate saying that because I love Porsche but when you start up an AMG Mercedes V8 or 12 it makes your eyes water man. It's incredible. It's like an event. It's got an old grunt or something about it. It's a beautifully orchestrated performance right up in you're face. No other car has that effect on me. It's also a lifestyle in a way to. You're able to see things from a different perspective because of the impact it has on your face or something. I can't explain it. It feels as if you are power drunk until the minute the car shuts off. The Porsche is brilliant in a totally different way though. It's like a smart lifestyle you know? It makes a lot of sense etc.

    VirusTornado I know it drives different vs the regular model and the power delivery is different but other than that it's very similar. You'd be surprised how much a suspension tune can make. I know it's also got a carbon fiber prop shaft and other things but it's still a muscle car to my eyes, the changes don't take away the fact it's an AMG Mercedes lol. And yes I've been driving for quite a while. I'm a grown 6 foot 4 man who works 40+ hours a week and commutes to work jus like everyone else. I'm by no means a spring chicken lol.

    +Nik Brudar you've got to remember the 918 is a pig. The GT2 and especially the RS will be much, much lighter while still having a very powerful engine as you said probably 650hp. It will get a lot of the new Porsche technologies to like All Wheel Steering. A lot of cars are only a second or so behind the 918 on some tracks/tests so it's very possible.

The stock SLS vs. the stock SLR? The stock SLS is ridiculously tail happy, so that would actually be very interesting. The SLR might surprise.

    the amg gt has the best turbo setup in the business, they're mounted right between the V allowing for almost no turbo lag. but regardless you cannot not have turbo lag and anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand how a turbo works. also id like to see the gt2 vs viper acr...458 special, 570s, amg gtr and for fun id just like to see the difference between the gt2 rs and the new gt3 rs with the pdk

    TheFlyingPineapple Just gotta know how to properly operate a manual transmission as well as drive a car with little to no-assist's at all. I drive my e46 M3 6MT everyday in heavy East Toronto traffic and have 0 problems. People just complain too much as a result of laziness or lack of skill. We aren't talking about money-shifting a race car here. But hey, if you like flicking paddles or jolting an auto-stick back and forth, more power to you.

  • @TheFlyingPineapple

    647killa Oh, I know a manual is perfectly usable in every day life, as well as on a track. And perhaps my last comment came across as a bit snide, but I completely understand why some people prefer to use a manual box. All I was trying to say is that, objectively speaking, one of Porsche's PDK boxes or similar is going to be better on a track, in relation to change time and precision.

  • @647killa

    @647killa

    TheFlyingPineapple Sorry for the misunderstanding. To each his own at the end of the day. I simply prefer the manual on a track as well and if i could afford it, i'd build a proper sequential gearbox with a clutch pedal for some real PDK-speed manual shifting.

    The GT2RS have a lighter front end with the correct suspension position, the engine is at the rear, and the frame sit at the middle rear. The weight distribute and chassis setting is for balance, the wheelbase is close for some slight amount of understeer to aid steering respond. The SLS aren't there yet, the wheelbase is long enough for handle understeer but the E-diff haven't have the reaction to handle stability. The engine placed at the front, for extra weight, however, it placed behind the front axle to avoid push. However, the frame sitting close to the rear and make it drive though a corner like a touring car, once you lose traction, massive oversteer would happen.
