Hi, & Good day, this engine That, i am working on is for Mercedes E250 W212 and the timing chain is at the front of the engine, the BMW X1 X5 Mercedes Sprinter got the engine chain at the back of the engines and there is more engines like those. You are Welcome. Have a Nice Day Mr. J

Hey man, what kind of cap do you use for your simple compression test? Timing chain of my brother's C180 with M271 got broken a few days ago and I want to replace it. It didn't happen during a drive but we want to make sure the valves didn't get bent.

i was using a plastic cup that for blocking engine holes some time they come with water pumps, for using cup to do compression test for the engine the cup should be secure with a strong wire to prevented from flying, !!! and Safety Glasses Must be Worn. if the chain damaged & you can not turn the engine, Remove the camshafts to close all the valves. Good Luck and Always Think That Safety First Remember That. You Can ask questions again, You are Welcome.

I got W212 E250 also. At witch kilometer of engine you prefer to change the chain?? I know all say drive till you hear sound of crackling, but I prefer to drive safe and little costs. It costs more if chain breaks. Good videos keep it up. Greetings Sinan

Hi, i Believe , For this engine it is better to replace the Engine's Timing chain Kit at 80,000 Km if the Cam's Gears are good , or Replace the Engine's Timing Kit with the Cam's Gears at 120,000 Km . Thanks For Watching and Have a Nice Day Mr. Sinan .

Hi, in my opinion the Mercedes C200 W203 Cars and Engines after replace the timing chain kit, they are the Best of the Best cars and engines, E250 W212 The Same But need replace the Turbo's O-Ring Seal For the oil pips. in my opinion these cars are the best of the best if they are Clean and in good Conditions.

yes, this timing chain job needs a special engine timing tool, they are a plate of metal to hold the cams at the right timing and a Socket to undo the bolts of the chain gears. Good Luck and always remember Safety first. try to find tool like this at eBay !! Maybe .

Salam Hachem, Which part of the world you based?

Seems Mercedes makes these cars that they can be worked on with regular tools rather than a lot of specialty items like BMW has. Mercedes looks easier to work on as well. I know all that depends on how well the car was initially taken care of by owner/owners.

this engine was running for 102000 Km and the timing chain damaged . put these cars are great after fixing timing chain.

How much tightening torque are the camshaft adjusters tightened to?
