    Great video!! Keep up the good work!! I have the same engine just put new head gasket and skimmed. 1 question want to ask, camshaft same position and it’s at tdc 1, does it matter if the crank pulley has been spun round say 5 or 10 times but it’s lined up tdc1 and camshaft in correct position ???

  • @vitaliyburnashov537

    @vitaliyburnashov537

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello! Thanks for the comment! For a complete cycle, the crankshaft makes two revolutions, while the camshaft only one. Thus, regardless of the number of revolutions, if the pulley is aligned with the mark and the camshaft is fixed, the engine phases are set correctly. After assembly, make TWO full turns of the crankshaft and again check the accuracy of the phase setting. Good luck!

    Hello. I had 240 thousand. It is possible that the problem was caused by the insufficient quality of the engine oil used by the previous owner (as a version). If there is no reason for concern, I strongly recommend DON'T CHANGE

    If the crankshaft and camshafts are locked could you just pull the new chain through with the old chain without turning the crankshaft?

  • @vitaliyburnashov537

    @vitaliyburnashov537

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the question. This is impossible. The new chain completely repeats the kinematics of the old one, bending around the teeth of the timing gear on the crankshaft.

    Good video. But if the route cause to your timing chain or tensioner fail is ignored. It will return. Ok its normal on poorly maintained high miles engines. But try this. Remove your oil filter in morning before cold start. If its dry as a bone showing no signs off being immersed in oil seconds before. You have oil run back to sump. Causing dry starts. Firstly check all filter stem o rings. Good. If ok. You could have issues with valve in oil cooler manifold. Some say its a oil cooler thermostat. Others say oil pressure regulator. But if you remove it. Its a cap with a long plastic stick with a spring loaded. Bullet shaped end. More like a anti run back valve. And its directly in feed to oil filter supply.

    Dry starts kill hydraulic chain tensioner internal seals. Amplifies problem. Slack chain causes eventual chain stretch due to snatch and grab. Ok replace chain and tensioner. Shuts it up temporarily but if oil drains your real route cause. Expect it too return.

    Mercedes answer to this problem. Lets drill more holes in tensioner feed. Get oil in it faster. But if no oil there to feed it Just daft. Hopefully somebody will read this and get what im saying.
