I don’t know much about brakes. A friend mentioned u may need a computer to complete this job. Is that true ?

Nice DIY video! thanks, just to complement, before start I recommend to open the cap of the brake fluid and check the level everytime you push the piston, this is to take care of the system, thats why you saw some fluid leak. Thanks again for the video.

I know this was posted 6year ago but you should never use copper grease and use normal grease on the calipre slides as normal geese as a higher boiling temperature than copper grease and copper grease can cause the calipre slides to seize up I have done sevral cars that this has happened to but everything else was very helpful

Thank you for your comment. I do agree with you. This video is mainly on how to do the job to save money for labour. I think you are right. At the time I went to Canadian Tire and was advised to use copper Anti Seize by their mechanics and they gave me the one that said “Anti Seize” on it But once I did my car I started digging around more and even tho a little bit of copper anti-seize is ok but silicone based grease is the best. I will mention this as a highlight so others can see :)

Thanks for this. Be careful when you push the piston back in. If the brake master cylinder has been topped up with the pads worn, when you push the piston in the fluid comes out of the master cylinder ... "Voice of Experience"

Tyler Larson hello the rotors are very easy to remove. All you have to do is to remove another two screw at the back of the caliper and then once the whole caliper system is out you need to use a torque screa driver and unscrew the only screw that is holding the rotor. I might upload a video if I still have any since i sold this car and now own a BMW.

S. Price hello. They are Mercedes pad. I figured the parts arent that expensive from the dealer and I wanted to have the warranty in good standing so I used their own pads.

I just went to a mechanic that advised me to replace both pads and disks. Did you notice a metal lip at the edge of the disks? Do the disks really need to be replaced or can I just replace the pads? Did the pads fit indie the disk's outside edge metal thin lips?

Hi. I did notice the edge, and it is recommended to change the disk. But the car was fine with the pads only. And after that I did another 50k kilometers and had no issues . But if the car is around 110k kilometers I would suggest to change the disks. Maybe someone who has a better knowledge can also help in this comment.

@@PrintMeLogo Mine has only 60.000km so probably would be ok just replacing pads.... I might change the brake disks at 110k km....

i think you will find that the 17mm is for whole brake assembly. then you can remove rotors.

Hello , It should be the same way for rear break pad as well. you only need to untie the two bolts at each end and take the pad out. for changing the disk I will make a video for front and back wheel as soon as I get time with in this month. dont forget to subscribe to stay posted

joey cannon hello sure. I just sold my CLA. I loved it so much. It was a fun car and an absolute head turner once you do stuff to it. Now I got a BMW 3 series and I am impressed with the interior of it. You can message me and I will reply.

nice vid, but I thought CLA has dual piston caliper on the front. I'm a little bit disappointed lol

Ryan Lu yes it is single piston. The BMW 3 series I got has a daul piston. But the cla has the vented disk and the BMW doesnt. So its 50/50 I guess.

Erick Dominguez hello. Yes tgey were purchased from the dealer. I jeard if i used parts that were after market it could cause tge warranty to void. But if i didnt have the warranty concerns i would of get after market ceramic pads. Because the original pad has lots of break dust and finishes quicker.

Hi fernando. since I haven't got to the stage of changing the rotor yet. But I think this can help. You need to remove the Calipers off your disk, there are two other screws holding your caliper to the plate behind your disk. once you remove the caliper you can remove your disk by unscrewing the single screw on your disk which is located between the five holes where the wheel nuts go through. I hope I didn't confuse you lol.

You didn’t release the brake fluid reservoir lid. The liquid you heard was possibly brake fluid pushing past the seal in the lid. Useful video tho.

I thought you had to replace rotors when you replace pads especially fronts. You can get away with the rear pads only.

hippyEntertainment changing rotor depends on the way you drive. If tge rotor is thick enough you can still use it. Usually you can go through two to three brake pads until its tine to change the rotor . Also if you forget ti change the rotor, you will know if its time to change when you feel vibration when you brake or when you hear a heavy noise . Also changing the rotor is easy. Im making a video soon for you guys.

JOE BILLINGS hahahahaah. No my friend its not disrespectful at all. You wont believe things I dis with that car. My girlfriend is country girl and Im a city boy so I drove once or twice a week for 2 hours just to visit her and come back another 2 hours. So I was driving this car like a country boy for a while until she moved in with me in the city.😅😂😂

Better off taking the caliper bracket off before you clean it especially with the rotor still there. Lol no rotor respect bruhh

👎🏻It is strictly forbidden to lubricate the guides with copper grease; the rubber boots will swell and be thrown into the trash. for guides only special lubricant.
