    Great video ! This video brings back memories. One weekend I was working in a garage with this other guy. There were two vehicles that needed front brakes to be done. A Ford Transit and a Mercedes like the one in your video. The other guy ran to the owner and begged for the Ford job. The fool said that the Ford was way too difficult for me to manage. Lol. Long story short I completed the job with no issues. Ford brakes are never as involved as Mercedes brakes !

    I just replaced them today with the same exact rotors and pads, 35K miles on a 2017 C300 with AMG package. Originally I wanted the Brembo brakes and I found them at a really good price, so ordered them from eEroparts. A few days later they canceled my order and told me they were out of stock even though they showed several available at their warehouse. So I don't know about that place! They have mixed reviews and other folks complain that their orders got screwed up, wrong parts were sent, canceled orders, etc. My factory rotors started vibrating right before 25K miles and got much worse recently. At highway speeds, the vibration and noise got so terrible that I had to do something about it. The dealership price was in the thousands so I bought these from Autohaus. They were shipped the next day and 3 days later I found them at my front door. Very easy replacement. The Freemax rotors are pretty solid and heavy. Hopefully, they would make a difference. I would post another update in a few days after I drive around for a bit. Thanks for the great video!

  • @martbart58
    @martbart58 Жыл бұрын

    Firstly, turn the steering on a left hand lock, you will have a lot more room. Then, push the old pads back (against the pistons) before you remove them, easier to take them out, and no need to use a tool to push the pistons back later. Calliper bolts are NOT made of aluminium, they are zinc plated steel bolts. You DON’T hit a three eighth ratchet with a hammer. Bodge. Don’t use WD40 on rubber seals, it does them in. Calliper bolts do need ‘torquing’ and thread locked when replaced. Don’t use lithium grease on brakes, sparingly apply anti seize (copper slip). You don’t know what you’re doing. BODGER.

    Great Video!!! 🙌🏻 Sir, Did you at some point had vibrations coming from the rotors/brakes before changing it eventually? I’m having bad vibrations under braking at high speed (70-80mph) but the dealership said I still have a lot of brake pads (60% life on it) I’m wondering if it’s the rotors some case of uneven scratch. Also, how much are the rotors and brake pads? Thanks so much!

    This is a common issue with Mercedes brakes, at least on the C-class cars. My wife's 2012 C300 4Matic, 2014 GLK350, and now 2017 C300 with AMG Sport package have all had this issue. The GLK had the brakes replaced at 20,000 miles at the dealer, and the problem was back within a couple hundred miles. It's really frustrating, because cars that cost this much shouldn't have this issue. Regarding warping, I don't believe this to be warping, I believe it to be pad material build-up, as I can do a bunch of hard stops back-to-back-to-back and the issue goes away for some time.

    Rear brake pads wear out about every 40,000 miles due to the design and the electronic parking brake. These front brakes had 130,000 miles on them and just down to the wear sensors. I did not need to change the rotors but did for video sake.

    @@krumzlatanov2852 lolol....well you are the ''amateur''....cause this is not a BMW...lol and besides...The long term count down in iDrive is a guess, pure and simple. It's based on the assumed number of miles that new pads can be expected to last, and there's a famous saying about what happens when you A-S-S-U-M-E. The warning generated by sensors is different, they trip when the actual pad thickness is down to a specified limit. That would normally cause a short term count down to begin, starting at 1000 miles as I recall. This system isn't perfect either, because there are only two sensors, on the left front inside and right rear inside pads, leaving the other six pads unaccounted for. A broken sensor wire can give a false positive as well. Bottom line, yearly visual checks of all eight pads is a must....and only an ''amateur'' can trust an assumption which is something that you accept as true without question or proof....
