Men On Films II *** In Living Color

Ойын-сауық

In Living Color is an American sketch comedy television series, which originally ran on the Fox Network from April 15, 1990 to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote, and starred in the program. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The show was taped before a live studio audience at stage 7 at the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. It also refers to the fact that most of the show's cast was African American, unlike other sketch comedy shows like Saturday Night Live whose casts are usually mostly white.
Other members of the Wayans family-Kim, Shawn and Marlon-had regular roles, while brother Dwayne frequently appeared as an extra. The show also starred the previously unknown actor/comedians Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and David Alan Grier. Additionally, actress Rosie Perez, Dancing with the Stars judge and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba and dancer Jennifer Lopez (now best known as a singer and actress) were members of the show's dance troupe The Fly Girls.

Hopefully things have changed for the better. With shows like Will & Grace and Pose, these types of characters are more accepted. I know plenty of gay men like this as well as the opposite. That's the thing that always bothers me, it's not as if they don't exist, because they do! Be out and proud! Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈

I agree, I was in my early teens when this show was on, but watching it as an adult is even better. It actually shocks you at how much they used to get away with, we've been so conditioned to accept this shit comedy we get today we forget how funny stuff used to be. Late 90's-early 00's Comedy Central was absolutely killing it too, they had so many funny shows, now look at it. Sad. At least we can find the old stuff online still.

@@richardleonardon2192 wrong, stop being a snowflake. Key and Peel have plenty of sketches where either one of them, 2 straight males, play a gay character, and there was no backlash, no demands that comedy Central take those episodes off air. Why? Because "haha they're gay" wasn't the joke, they didn't say anything derogatory or disparaging about being gay, much like Men on Film skits. Was in living color a bit heavier on the stereotypes? Of course, but they weren't making fun of being gay. Meanwhile this sort of skit probably wouldn't fly on SNL even during the same era (80s) because their audience was much more mainstream and conservative. Crazy how Fox Broadcasting was once seen as edgy, crude, boundary pushing tv with shows like this and married with children, but these days they're synonymous with whiny fake conservative Fox News.
