In Living Color (♥‿♥) "Blain Becomes Hetero"&"Straight Man Out" (♥‿♥)

Фильм және анимация

"Men On Film", featuring Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier as homosexual black film critics with exaggerated physical motions, such as "Two snaps up".
In Living Color is an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on Fox from April 15, 1990, to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television and was taped at stage 7 at the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. It also refers to the fact that most of the show's cast were black, unlike other sketch comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live whose casts were mostly white. It was controversial due to the Wayans' decision to portray African-American humor from the ghetto in a time when mainstream American tastes regarding black comedy had been set by more upscale shows such as The Cosby Show, causing an eventual feud for control between Fox executives and the Wayans.
Other members of the Wayans family-Kim, Shawn, and Marlon-had regular roles, while brother Dwayne frequently appeared as an extra. The show also starred the previously unknown actor/comedians Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier, and T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh. Additionally, Dancing with the Stars judge and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba, and actress and pop music star Jennifer Lopez, were members of the show's dance troupe The Fly Girls with actress Rosie Perez serving as choreographer. The show launched the careers of Carrey, Foxx, Davidson, Grier, Keymáh, Inaba, and Lopez and is credited with bringing the Wayans family to a higher level of fame as well. It was immensely popular in its first two seasons, capturing more than a 10 point Nielsen rating; in the third and fourth seasons, ratings faltered as the Wayans brothers fell out with Fox network leadership over creative control and rights. The series won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series in 1990. The series gained international prominence for its bold move and its all-time high ratings gained by airing a live, special episode as a counterprogram for the halftime show of U.S. leader CBS's live telecast of Super Bowl XXVI.

You would very rarely hear the crowd on SNL go apeshit laughter like they do here. It almost seems like they're a fake crowd, they go so wild! Because we're so used to hearing crowds cheering when they're told to cheer, and laughing half-heartedly at what we know is lame.

They had 3 members of the ILC cast on SNL shortly after In Living Color was cancelled after its fifth season on Fox. (BTW, I felt ILC declined in quality after Season 3 which was around the time Keenen Ivory Wayans lost creative control of his show to Fox Network executives. That's why Seasons 4 and especially 5 are bad by comparison to Seasons 2 and 3.) Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, and David Alan Grier all hosted SNL within a year during the beginning of SNL's doldrums (when the writing got bad and the show became "meh"). Their episodes were above the average for that timeframe. Honestly, from what I can remember, Grier had the most memorable SNL episode. That's just how it turned out. Rewatching ILC in reruns, Damon Wayans was probably the most consistently "On"/funny member of the cast. Jim Carrey hasn't aged well for me. David Alan Grier? Underrated and one of the most consistent, funniest guys in the cast after Damon Wayans. "Living Looney Tune" is how I would characterize his best moments. It's a gift to be surreal AND believable in a sketch! People should go back and watch "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka." That feature film is glimpse into the near future. A lot of the core ILC cast is in that movie along with David Alan Grier, the humor is similar to what was in the first 3 seasons of ILC. He has one of the funniest scenes in that movie!

Than at the end of good james said it was recorded beofe live audience. Wel good times probably was one to since he did say it was recorded before live. But i am pretty sure in living color was real. Plus i read a article that said a show with a live audience has genuine laughs. So im just assuming. I could be wrong though my guy!. But than i also read that for a show that was recorded live the actors would wait until the audience got done laughing than and at times it would be followed by a weird silence plus at times you can hear people caughing and it would more of a echo when they did laugh. And i seen that all the time on in living color and other shows. Even on good times. So to be honest i think it was real laughs.

As to ILC, it was the character actors for me: Kim Coles, DAG, Damon Wayans, Jim Carey, Tommy Davidson, T"Keyah Keymah, Alexandra Wentworth, Jie Foxx, etc...they were obviously hysterically talented.😂😂

For y’all whining about how this show wouldn’t be made today, you’re right and I wouldn’t want it to be. Shows like _In Living Color, All in the Family,_ and _Married with Children_ are classics that do NOT need shallow imitators via reboot written by Millennials or GenZ. They’re perfectly imperfect the way they are. As long as they’re in syndication or available on streaming or even DVD, that’s all that matters. If they were ever “retired” from being available to purchase or streamed, _THEN_ we’d have a problem😌
