Memorial Day Weekend Ride on Can-Am Spyder Along the Erie Canal

We ride along the historic Erie Canal on the Can-Am Spyder to get ice cream. Discuss Can-Am dealer network and 3000 mile service.
This channel chronicles my adventures using a 2023 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited as my only conveyance. We’ll go on a great adventures as well as mundane errands. We’ll also discuss accessories and gear for the Can-Am Spyder.
I usually wear a Tourmaster Transition 4 jacket, a Scorpion EXO-AT950 helmet, and either Klim Baja gloves or Joe Rocket Windchill gloves. I use a GoPro Hero 10 camera and a Purple Panda mic, and I edit video with Final Cut Pro on an iPad Pro.

This is my opinion, I want to say that I appreciate your videos. I am looking to buy a 2020 or newer RT Limited, so I am watching just about every KZread video on Can Am there to watch. It doesn't really matter to me when the video was done. I want to hear about the good and bad about this bike before I spend $$. I had a dealership service department print me the maintenance schedule, and the 28K service will be a big dollar amount. I am going into this with my eyes open. Anyway, thank you for making these videos and stay safe.

I appreciate your comments. And I appreciate the heads up on the 28K service expense. I’ll probably hit that after two years of ownership.

Video sequence is unimportant to me, what matters is the content. And your content is very good in my opinion. I started my research on the Spyder in 2021 and found many excellent channels that pretty much answered my questions before I signed on the dotted line and ordered my 2022 Sea-to-Sky. I've even made new friends through some of these channels and even got to ride with some of them (and I hope to meet more and ride with more of them!) I am not mechanically inclined, so part of my research was to evaluate cost of ownership. And for the purchase amount of my Spyder, plus I added the extended warranty, I was not going to penny-pinch on its maintenance. I get mine done at my dealership and I am completely satisfied. I hope your service will be as good as mine. I also started posting some videos but I haven't decided if I'm going to purchase a gopro. For now, I do it because I am having fun as I have no plan to monetize it. Cheers Chris!

We’re remarkably similar except I’m two years behind you in terms of Spyder ownership.

It does not matter order of vlogs to keep them coming. I'm in Christchurch New Zealand I have 2 Can Am off road dealers close to me but the on road ones are 70 and 150 kilometer's away.

Thanks Chris, It makes no difference to me when you post the videos, I just watch them as and when I get a chance. The only thing I would like if possible is some variety to the background music, as the same music becomes a little monotonous after awhile. However, if causes you a lot of work then no problem, I can live with it. I accept the importance of marking memorial day for those that have given their lives for the benefit of others. We are marking D-Day 6th June 1944 this year as it's the 80 year anniversary for the fallen. It is a great mark of respect to see the flags and I was wondering how long they stay there?. Kind Regards, Mike.

The challenge is finding good music that is not copyrighted and not expensive. The flags stay up through July 4th.

Chris, vlogging equipment? Settings? Not so much interested in vlogging itself but dash and rear facing cameras (to see who hit me) . I really appreciate your videos, I'm still grasping for knowledge and finding up to date videos can be challenging.

I use a GoPro Hero 10 camera, mounted on my helmet with a Chin Mount. For audio I used a Purple Panda mic tied into the GoPro with a Media Mod. I only use one camera, but may add a second at some point.

@@SpyderMinimalist You are a wealth of information. I'm curious what the mpg is when riding predominately 55mph or less roads...hopefully I'll be able to find out next year.

@@timothytapio4252 I’m guessing if holding a steady 55mph you’ll get 35 or so. I haven’t tested it but that’s my guess at this point.

I’ve not had any problem with your sequencing since I’m more interested in the content of each video. If there were videos out of sequence, I didn’t notice as I was more interested in the story you were telling and the beautiful scenery I was watching. I’m going to be more interested in the cost of your 3,000 mile service than the sequencing of your videos.

Thanks much! The 3,000 mile service video will be uploaded Tuesday afternoon, depending on when I get home from the dealership.

Chris, I have a question for you. I just took a 2024 RT Limited out for an hour test ride. I noticed that the steering was very sensitive. I did not have a tight grip on the handlebars. It did seem to be easier the more I rode the bike. Also, I never got over the 35 mph speed limit. The salesman said that it was because of the power steering. Your thoughts?

I’ve heard others comment on the jumpiness of the handlebars, but I’ve not experienced that. In fact, on the highway, I’ll put it on cruise control at 70+ mph and take my hands of the bars. It tracks straight and true. That tells me the jumpiness may be rider induced. A little of small plane turbulence is sometimes pilot induced.
