Another Long Ride on the Can-Am Spyder, but less favorable conditions

Another 459 mile trek on the Can-Am Spyder, but this one (ride back to Niagara Falls) with slightly less favorable conditions. Another fuel test. Lots to discuss
This channel chronicles my adventures using a 2023 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited as my only conveyance. We’ll go on a great adventures as well as mundane errands. We’ll also discuss accessories and gear for the Can-Am Spyder.
I usually wear a Tourmaster Transition 4 jacket, a Scorpion EXO-AT950 helmet, and either Klim Baja gloves or Joe Rocket Windchill gloves. I use a GoPro Hero 10 camera and a Purple Panda mic, and I edit video with Final Cut Pro on an iPad Pro.

I really like my 2020 RT Ltd seat. Not changing anything. Luggage, I use stuff bags, they have served me well for many years.

Regarding the seat - amazed at how comfortable the RTL seat is. My only issue was air flow - not enough to prevent me from getting sweaty where I don't want to be. My solution was to stop in at (horrors) a Harley Davidson dealer in Loveland, CO and pick up a Circulator Large Seat Pad. For me that worked much better than an Air Hawk. I was able to borrow both from other riders in my group before making a decision. The Circulator isn't a miracle, but I found myself squirming far less with it than without it and am really glad I made the (expensive) purchase.

Love my 2020 RTL seat, Schuberth helmet, air hawk cushion on longer rides, and the cruise control! Sorry you hit bad weather there. Just did my 9300 service and put a new back tire on. I need to finish my video on that.

Those alpine earplugs... I love them. Did a video comparing various earplugs a while back. Good to know that you get 35 mpg at 70. Will test that myself this weekend when I head down to AR

Regarding Distance to Empty (DTE) - I just completed a 15 day, 4600 mile trip on my 2024 RTL. DTE was all over the place (way high as well as low) as was MPG on the Trip B meter which is the one I use for tracking my tank. I tried to be very consistent with my fill ups, using a flashlight so I could see the gas level and get it to the bottom of the filler tube. Always able to put in more after the pump clicked off, though unfortunately, I never checked how much more. I'll do that as a return to normal riding. What I concluded regarding DTE and MPG is that the computer takes some time to figure out the mileage you are getting based on the riding you have been and are doing. So it will read low after a high speed high headwind run across Utah, for example. And eventually it would settle in. But when I'm touring, I'll stick with runs carefully and conservatively planned so that I know I'll make it to the next gas stop. The meters make for interesting information, but I'm not going to plan my stops based on what I'm seeing on them. Other than how many miles I've run since the last gas stop per my Trip B meter.

I have a Schubert C5 world, very quiet. I think they say it is the 2nd most quiet hybrid helmet there is. My gripe is that they sell an inferior model in America. The sell it ECE approved in Europe, but only DOT approved in America. One would think if it is the same helmet in Europe and America they should all be ECE, but they are not.

The weather has now become unpredictable!! I've also had rain happen when none was forecasted; putting your full rainsuit on the side of the road is not pleasant nor easy. On my 2022 Sea-to-Sky, I use the air deflectors to direct more air towards me on the hot days of summer. I had rented an RT Limited before obtaining my Sea-to-Sky and its memory foam seat is better on my lower back and lessens my fatigue. As a matter of personal preference, I do like my Mystery Blue color and exclusive wheels with the silver accents. Another good video. Cheers Chris!

I have a 2021 RTL and I have the same issue with the mileage range estimate. Unless I totally shut my bike down, everything to the point of being able to remove the key, it will continue showing the previous estimate. Infuriating at times but I now just make sure I do it correctly for my bike.

Thank you for a good video Chris. Enjoyed it and liked. I test sat the RT limited and the Sea to Sky. Now, I did not test drive them, but I would say the Sea to Sky was slightly more comfortable. And it had a more "high end feel" to it. It would be interesting to see if you can make the comparison. So did I misunderstand you? The Sea to Sky do not come with the bags included anymore? In Sweden it comes with the side bags as well as the front trunk bag. In Mexico, I dont know, they have not come out with any of the 2024 models yet, not even the Rykers. Dont know why. Cheers from Swede in Mexico

Hey Chris, I love your channel. If you will give me a day or two to coordinate, I will ride up from Texas and let you try my Sea to Sky. It would be an honor to ride with you. I currently have a Honda Goldwing, and I recently purchased a 2021 Sea to Sky a few months ago. It had 2,900 miles when I bought it and it now has 5,000. I can tell you it is more comfortable than my Goldwing. Mine came with the luggage and a matching color piece in the event you remove the trunk. I have zero experience with Spyders (besides this one) but I can tell you it is comfortable compared to my 2018 Honda Goldwing (75,500 miles - bought it with two miles on it). I really enjoy my Goldwing, and last May I took a trip from Texas to Los Angeles and up to Washington on the Pacific Highway. It was a 6-day trip and 5,700 miles. If you do the math, I had two 1,100-mile days (there is a story to that). Anyway, I enjoy the Spyder (very much). I really enjoy your channel and the best video you ever made was where you use your feet to avoid objects in the road. After I watched that video, it was obvious, but I can't tell you how many objects I hit before watching the video. So, thanks for that. Anyway, I would love to take a ride with you, but being in Texas, I am a little way away. Regardless, I would consider it a privilege to let you try my Sea to Sky. I just need a heads-up due to mileage (it takes two days to get out of Texas).

I noticed the same issue with the displayed miles (how many miles you can get after you fill up). On the 2024 RTL. It showed around 140 miles. I rode for like 40 miles and it never changed… (this was on my trip to the claw of the dragon, last week). After I did another refill (when I was close to empty). It then displayed around 180 miles. So they sure didn’t fix that weird bug.
