ROUTE 20 SCENIC BYWAY (U. S. Route 20)
The New York State Scenic Byway designated section of U.S. Route 20 is 108 miles in length, and includes 7 Counties and 27 Municipalities. It is, of course, an important segment of the historic (1927) Transcontinental U.S. Route 20 highway, which is 3,300 miles in length, from the Atlantic Ocean in Massachusetts to the Pacific Coast of Oregon. The Route 20 scenic byway corridor celebrates Central New York's diverse heritage, natural beauty, and agricultural vitality, and is defined by rolling hills and broad vistas framed in a working landscape, lakes, tranquil communities, and historical places. The visitor experience is a reflection of Americana, a slowdown of time from the stir of the city, a chance to imagine how travelers used the corridor through history and an opportunity to explore a working landscape.
INTERSTATE 90
Interstate 90 (I-90) is an east-west transcontinental freeway and the longest Interstate Highway in the United States at 3,020.44 miles (4,860.93 km). It begins in Seattle, Washington, and travels through portions of the Pacific Northwest, Mountain West, Great Plains, Midwest, and the Northeast, ending in Boston, Massachusetts. The highway serves 13 states and has sixteen auxiliary routes, primarily in major cities such as Chicago, Cleveland, Ohio, Buffalo, New York, Rochester, New York, and Boston.
The western portion of I-90, beginning at Washington State Route 519 in Seattle, crosses the Cascade Range at Snoqualmie Pass in Washington and the Rocky Mountains (carrying the Continental Divide) at Homestake Pass near Butte, Montana. The eastern portion runs along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Erie, later following the historic Erie Canal across the state of New York. The highway's eastern terminus is at Massachusetts Route 1A near Logan International Airport in Boston.
Between Seattle and Beloit, Wisconsin, I-90 is an Interstate without tolls. From Illinois to Massachusetts, much of I-90 follows several toll roads that predate the Interstate Highway System, including the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway, Indiana Toll Road, Ohio Turnpike, New York State Thruway, and the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Interstate 87 (I-87) is a 333.49-mile-long (536.70 km) north-south intrastate Interstate Highway located within the U.S. state of New York, and is most of the main highway between New York City and Montreal. The highway begins at exit 47 off I-278 in the New York City borough of the Bronx, just north of the Triborough Bridge and Grand Central Parkway. From there, the route runs northward through the Hudson Valley, the Capital District, and the easternmost part of the North Country to the Canadian border in the Town of Champlain. At its north end, I-87 continues into Quebec as Autoroute 15 (A-15). I-87 connects with several regionally important roads: I-95 in New York City, New York State Route 17 (NY 17; future I-86) near Harriman, I-84 near Newburgh, and I-90 in Albany. The route is the longest intrastate Interstate Highway in the Interstate Highway System. The highway is not contiguous with I-87 in North Carolina.

LOVED "Niagara Falls!....Slowly we turned". Too many of us Knuckleheads knew exactly what you meant. Like the others, I wished I knew you were in our neck of the woods into the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts. Down time here for a few months with the damn winter, save a day here or there. You were right near the Mustang seat factory. A good take to go through. But, thanks I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the rest of the posts. You're along the reverse of the route we took to get to The 100th Anniversary Party in Milwaukee a "few" years back. Thanks again, thanks Harley

I have a daughter who lives in Connecticut and last spring rode from Utah to see her and my new grandson. I couldn't get anyone to go with me (they didn't want to push the 700-800 mile days), but it was a ton of fun and am considering doing it again next spring. Keep riding guys. Thanks for the posts. Similar to the other Western and Upstate NY comments I too enjoyed seeing you pass through our neck of the woods. For us locals there is lots of ridding in our own backyard. From Niagara Falls, the Seaway trail, to Letchworth State Park, to the Finger Lakes, to the Adirondack and Catskills mountains. But I have never been to the now KZread famous KFC-Taco Bell restaurant you stopped at outside of Syracuse. I will now add that to the list for next Summer. Happy Holidays to you and your families. Ride Safe. See you down the road.

We planned to do more on the 20 but unfortunately had places to be. Thanks for sharing:
I grew up and currently live in WNY. So I am familiar with all the roads you were riding. The big blue bridge is the Grand Island Bridge connecting Buffalo and Grand Island. 20 is a major trucking route through NY. It’s beautiful during the fall, but I would recommend coming a little later when the leaves really get into the peak of their color. And they are the Finger Lakes.

We'll usually just look at google maps a few days before we leave and pick a general route, sometimes taking detours based on recommendations🤙

Really nice video. What I actually not get is, why everyone stays on the highway and not going to nice and scenic roads. But hey, different taste

Our goal was to see the back roads of Maine which you see later in the series. If we had more time, we would have loved to take back roads the whole way. Thanks for watching.
