Rust in Peace was very well received by both critics and fans and was responsible for bringing Megadeth to the attention of a mainstream metal audience, and it is considered one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time. The album was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 33rd Grammy Awards, and "Hangar 18" was nominated for the same award at the 34th Grammy Awards. Allmusic described the record as "easily Megadeth's strongest musical effort", and it was noted as one of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

I know a lot of people slate Dave for not being a great vocalist, but "In my darkest hour" is one of the most emotionally charged songs in Thrash Metal and his snarly voice really fits this song.. In fact no one could possibly sing this song like Dave in my opinion..
He literally cried and cried writing this song to Cliff when died. RIP Cliff!

This song is nothing short of a masterpiece..... The official video is lit AF
I was 18 when this album So Far,So Good,So What was released,and this was the 6 track of the 8 on the album...you guys need to listen to it from start to finish to realize what an impact this had on so many of us back when there was no internet or auto tune or laptops...and metal,along with rap was really in its infancy and both were generally frowned upon

I 100% absolutely agree with you on that everything you said was so on point you just hit it on the head. Back in the day when we didn't have internet or any of this crap we got now we couldn't wait until something new or something of this nature was played on the radio which a lot of radio stations didn't do back then it was more a word of mouth or if someone had a pirate radio station in my case. But the first time I heard the song I was hooked and still am..
"Loneliness is not only felt by fools." Still to this day since I first heard it decades ago the WISEST and most true words I've ever heard in my life.

I got to see them 3 days before this show which is pretty cool. It was my first show and they delivered tremendously.

when i saw you reacting to a live show at first i was like "noooooo" but gd, megadeth killed it, flawless performance and some changed tones to make it more interesting. Bravo Megadeth.

i loved this line up of Megadeth Chris Broderick is out of this world as a lead guitarist. rust in peace era was a dream come true at the time. Marty is still going solo and creating beautiful music and nick menza still one of the best drummers of all time rest in peace .

Music wrote about Cliff Burton..lyrics wrote later on bout gf. I was confused and had to research lol..lyrics weren't typically what a man says about another dude. Great song..Dave was hitting some notes. The album version he don't it was cool to see that

You should hear- Set The World On Fire & Liar from this album! I saw MegADetH 3 times from 1991 to 94 & them along with PanterA sound just like they do on their records 📀 live! They are awesome!

People tout Nick Menza as Megadeth's greatest drummer but I tell ya Shawn Grover was just as tight and had an awesome heavy kit and super heavy hitting style! Also Dave needs to make a mends with David Ellifson and get David back on the base guitar position!

Lyrics of the song and the early iunspiration for the song are both sad and oddly different events. Also the vocal style is hard for him to sing mostly because he has never been the greatest singer and he's lost lots of range and his power hasdiminished as he's got older. PS I love Megadeth and have seen them live a few times and they are very very good live, I highly reccomend you go see them once that's allowed. :)
Should have listened to the 93 version of when they played Hammersmith the same concert when you guys reacted to holy wars that sounded a lot better than this one big time

Megadeth is like Metallica, in the way that they were great up until a certain album. For Metallica it was And Justice for All, and for Megadeth it was Rust in Peace. After those albums , they both went down hill as far as thrash metal goes...in my opinion. I love this song from So Far, So Good, So What.
