I bought this album when I was 17 and would drive around listening to it over and over. Definitely one of my favorite Megadeth albums of all time. One of those albums where every song was great just like Peace Sells and Rust In Peace.

I skipped "Killing..." cuz I was a Metallica fanboy. I bought "Peace..." cuz I loved the title track and ended up loving the album. I skipped this one cuz of the "Anarchy..." cover and didn't come back till "Countdown...". I've since made up the lost ground though. I missed out on many good albums cuz I was too quick to assume bands had sold out. I still say Metallica was the better 80s band, but from 1990 on it's been all Megadeth.

This interpretation of yours about the song was really touching. The situation, when you really are at the rock bottom, with emotional pain, loneliness and then cry out for God , please set me free me from this world. It feels like it is not just a basic song, Dave must have had some very deep emotions going on when he did this song. And I am sure many of us can definitely understand this feeling and situation, who have been in that very rock bottom.

Damn. I have not listened to this song in a pretty long while. But this was one of my first Megadeth loves. This was a huge favorite in my teens. But, I mean, this song has teen angst written all over it. And Dave was in his late 20's by now, lol. Epic tune though 🤘 That intro, certain later parts!--Totally influenced (and slays) Cemetery Gates.

Her interpretation was very deep & impressive imho , especially being able to pullout all of his lyrics words that were almost buried within the heavy bass & drum to have been heard properly ( i could only barely hear half of the lyrics ) , then having to visualize & construct on the go !!! the real rationale behind them !!! etc...

I must say, being part of your community from day 1 it’s been a long time and lots of videos editing, so thanks for the work you two. Now, all these years 1000,s videos watched, I never come across a new to metal individual with a over the shoulder a fly on the wall as we listen to said individual process, learn the background or individuals interpretation of a songs, makes them feel, realizing the demonic or darker always represents bad, evil, man as in traditional relationships his side of the argument, look bottom line 95% of Metal songs are Mens feelings, their thoughts, and yes a place to vent without judgement and mostly society doesn’t really care that men have feelings when their taught to be strong, be brave, being judged being ridiculed for being soft or men don’t cry, so metal music says f that and turn out plenty of emotion! So I love your idea of a metal breakdown opinion/ observation and understanding songs, love it girl! Love from Minneapolis 🤘🏻

Two things you're always gonna get with Megadeth. Amazing guitars and melodies. But also very intense and deep lyrics and song structure. Theyrnit for everyone, but once you get the Megadeth vibe, Dave will take you an an amazing journey into his discography. He is an amazing composer. Check out TRUST or ALMOST HONEST off of Cryptic Writings. Those are a bit more commercial, but so well orchestrated. What I love most about Megadeth is Dave's affinity for mixing classical music with thrashing metal. Those two genres are very close in structure. Believe me, Beethoven ROCKS. Another great listen is Beethovens 5th symphony played in heavy metal style. Such a beautiful piece. I'm new to your channel, and I like you two. Thanks for the reaction! Keep up the great work!

Agreed that it's an underrated album. Standouts are: Mary Jane, Hook In Mouth, In My Darkest Hour. There's also an interesting story about how Jeff Young got the gig. He was actually the guitar teacher of the guy that originally landed the gig. The other guy was in over his head (wanted Jeff to write the solos and teach him). Eventually, they just ended up bringing Jeff in. Supposedly got fired for trying to sleep with Dave's girlfriend.

On the surface, this sounds like a suicide/soured relationship song, which I firmly agree with - but apparently, the song is actually about the fractured relationship between Mustaine and Metallica, and/or Cliff Burton - but I don't really see it. Supposedly there are a few songs by each band that do this ; some cryptic expression of the Metallica/Megadeth saga put into a song about suicide or insanity or war or whatever... I would never make such connections in a million years.

Interesting interpretation and it does stand up. Dave was clearly in a bad state with grief on hearing the news about Cliff, drug addiction, bad relationships and quite possibly the pain that he's always seemed to carry since getting kicked out of Metallica. The lyrics clearly referencing suicide as the music careers into chaos representing his mindstate. For me at least, in the last verse he's resolving to try and put the past behind him and keep on going. The good thing passing away could be Cliff, his relationship or being in Metallica. Most likely, all three. The return of the melody is his mind stabilising again after the crisis.

I don't think you have reacted to perhaps my favorite Lynrd Skynrd tune, "Tuesday's Gone" There is a nice remaster version on youtube
