spøøkymessage73 It is incredibly tragic and I think it’s even more tragic that the story doesn’t go out of the way to make Eagle Flies more consumed with it. He gave his life to save Arthur. Despite all of Dutch’s talk and his lust for revenge he went back and saved the guy all out of loyalty. Lesser stories would have made him out to be all consumed, but nope, saves Arthur. Makes it even more tragic.

It makes sense both ways. Eagle Flies wanted revenge against oppression despite being warned that a war is unwinnable. I guess it brings more to the moral of the story: "Revenge is a fool's game." Result: He died, tragically but honourably. Rains Fall knowing he lost and can't win tried to bring peace as much as possible. Result: He survived but suffers a lot 2 noble people, 1 method just happens to work better.

I loved Rains Fall, and this was just a total kick in the balls to see him so broken and defeated. The fact he's thought about Arthur all those years is exceptionally depressing. He was, undeniably, the wisest and most sensible person of all Rockstar games.

@@lewanbroski504 I can’t recall too much of the dialogue although I’m sure Arthur had some good bits of wisdom he would express time to time. However I’d say the wisdom to be learned from Arthur came from his actions more than his words. He knew his fate was death and instead of indulging in his last moments he ultimately wanted to die with honor and integrity and own up to his mistakes. Maybe good men find fulfillment in their lives from what they would die for.

@@buschtrout1499 yeah exactly his actions where wise but also his words to John and the members of the gang he said goodbye to. He told them to live good and fulfilling lives and told John to forgot about the gang and focus on his family now

When it cuts back to John as he Rains Fall gets onto the train, you can tell he's thinking about how Dutch, the gang and by extension himself destroyed so many lives. Eagle Flies would most likely be alive if it wasn't for Dutch whispering in his ear.

It may be dementia, or it may be depression. He likely came back to honor his son’s memory. In the credits we see him overlooking the plains of New Hanover watching a eagle fly by.

I’m saddened of his story but I am very happy he lived in the end. God I love Rockstar they make even the minor characters seem like the most important characters

The look on John’s face after Rains Fall steps onto the train says it all. The sadness over the unnecessary loss of life, and the solemn recognition that nothing can be done about it now. As Rains Fall says, it was a long time ago. Yes. But the pain is still with them.

I always admired how John added emphasis how he was "Very sorry". Almost as if hes putting himself in Rains Fall's shoes. I know its just a video game but this game really hit home when it comes to good times, loss, and trying to find a better way. Thank you Rockstar Games.

Rains Fall was one of the realest characters in the entire game. I remember feeling actual pity for the man during his missions, geniunely wanting to help him.

I came across this scene for the first time last evening. ...Since Arthur's passing, and completing the epilogues, i find myself just roaming different territories. Hunting and fishing. just roaming. Went to Annesburg to pay a bounty (rather not get into "why" i had to pay a bounty ; ) and was called on by Rains Fall. I almost lost it when John asked him why he was here. and Rains Fall replied "...I don't really know" (:56) Rockstar did an outstanding job on this and I appreciate the efforts of each and every individual that had part putting this together.

How did u get this I didn’t get this at all is this a side mission?

I was playing as John Marston and happened to pass this blind beggar standing by the road. He was an old man propped up on a walking stick, begging for alms. I stopped and gave him a dollar. He said there were two men looking for me. One from this world and one not. One brings death and the other ... he didn’t know. Scary stuff. One is the Federal Agent but the other?

The blind beggar is an in game Oracle. The fucker spoiled the ending for me. Not really though he kind gave me hints on how it would end for Arthur, going off of what honor I had. Told me to beware th le man with no nose and he said that i would meet my end in a circle of fire surrounded by those who hate me the most.

Answer: One is Ross and the other is Death. Ross brings death to many, including Marston ultimately. Death brings an uncertain outcome because Marston can choose to be honorable or dishonorable before going to his inevitable death. I love the blind prophet character because he comments on the meta elements of the games or the story as a whole much like M'aiq the Liar from the Elder Scrolls series.

Agent Ross and the Strange Man. He doesn't know what the Strange Man brings, partly because he is an impartial harbinger of fate, partly because he's not from this world and his intentions vary with the fate and prayers of others.

Rains fall is the best character Rockstar have ever created... They really show how it was for native Americans during the period...the sad look on John's face as Rains Fall gets on the train knowing his people were complicit in all of it. Rdr3 needs a native American protagonist

Its between arthur and rains fall, arthur has the protagonist value and more depth due to more "screen time" and focus but rains fall is my 2nd favourite rdr2 character despite his short amount of time in the game which really shows how well written he was

I don’t know exactly what Rains Fall had, but clearly he wasn’t well. Confused about the reasons of been there, and for a moment he forgot that his son died... this simbolizes the end of the natives culture. Rains fall was one last leader, and his son his last chance to continue with their legacy, but now he is dead and what is left of their group is in another place, living different lives. Rains Fall lost mind simbolizes it all... very sad

The fact this encounter give you LOADS of positive honor speaks volumes.

God this character was always a kick in the balls. Rains fall is very complex. You can see his great sorrow, but he still carries himself with nobility and wisdom. Defenitely one of my favourite characters.

He recognizes him even though john looks completely different

After meeting him as John your honor gets a huge hit and everything is cheaper. Just so you know. When that Missouri Fox Trotter comes in handy.

He got on the train to Canada but the train only goes around the map, so rains fall never really left

“Maybe a slow death is worse than a fast one” we literally see that with rain falls. Poor guy

meeting him shot my honor way up and this is a sad story.

They created Rains Fall well, I see my grandpa in him, my uncles. The humility and just the selflessness they claim. If your lands were taken, if your people were suffering, you'd understand his son's actions. I bet Rains Fall were more like his son when he was younger and experienced the repercussions. Hundreds of years and the cycle is still prevalent. Anyways, support the Wet'suwet'en protests.

Well, those are indeed early signs of Alzheimer’s. Poor old man, his original idea probably was to visit his son’s grave but when he’s with Marston it’s like he’s clueless, knows he is there for his son but doesn’t really remember much about it, meaning perhaps said visit never took place (could’ve forgotten where the grave’s at). Likewise, he remembers Arthur with absolute clarity, something that so often happens with people suffering from that illness. For example, I have an uncle (not blood related) suffering from Alzheimer’s and one moment he will start talking about his youth like it was yesterday and the next minute he’ll just take the car keys and disappear not to be found for the next 10 hours. But who knows, without much further evidence we can only speculate if that’s what’s going on in Rains Fall’s head or not.

Dude I had no idea this encounter was even possible! After the game I went up to the Wapiti Reservation and to my dismay it was deserted. I wasn’t surprised yet I was still depressed about it. After all that struggle they lost the fight in the end, but it’s so cool you get to see Rains Fall again, and in the unlikeliest of places. He’s an awesome character and I really liked him. Feel so bad for him and his people. The worst part is what happened to them is a real-life tragedy.

This is soo touching and sad man.. seeing rains fall after so many years, a broken shell of his former self, missing his son, tired from war and running... It touches me deeply..

He reminds me of a lot of my Grandfather..

To be frank after Arthur, the character I love the most and respect is rains fall.. his role is less but brings in a lot of emotion and depth to the character he played. A wise intellectual man who would have a made a lot of difference if he was there as part of Dutch’s gang. Him and Hosea wouldn’t have let the gang tear apart.

Awesome voice acting done for Rains Fall. Even the minor characters in this game are amazingly complex and can give so much with the limited dialogue.

I really didn't expect to meet him when I got off the train, that made it more epic, this game surprises me more and more

You get so much honour from this. After I beat the epilogue, I was at around level 2 honour, this got me to level 6 honour

As John watched the train leave the station to return back up north, a million thoughts seemed to race through his head. Dutch. Micah. Arthur. What he could've done different. He thought to himself, 'Dutch. What a damn mess you've left behind' But that time was long over and the gang he once considered family was nothing but history. A defeated look was on his face. With no reason to stick around much longer, he departed the station without speaking a word.

I was walking around near the train station so I could get tickets to fast travel to Valentine. I looked and seen a familiar man, but I didn’t realize until the cutscene started.

Rains Fall and Arthur were the perfect duo, he had all the wisdom and answers Arthur needed to change his life around

I like how just chatting with rains fall increases your honor

I’d love it if the next game plays as young Rains Fall - trying to balance pride and keeping his people safe.

Im playing RDR2 some time after main story completion. Just met Rains Fall at station in fogy dark grey raining day... The way of how he speak, what he wear, how he looks like, his bag, fact he using western world inventions as train... it hit me hard.

Rains fall is a perfect example of what true strenght is. Its easy to succumb to rage and anger and simplifiy things as bad vs good. Rains fall never did that. If only Eagle flies had realised this.

It's sad seeing how lost and almost broken Rain's Fall is now. A very fascinating character. I honestly wish he was in the game more.

It is incredible how the honor incrase just to talk with him, my level honor was just 1 level to neutral, and after that It was just 3 levels behind the max. At least for me, it's the probe that Rains Fall influed the way Arthur thought in his pat.

Rains Fall Seems To Be Suffering From First Stage Onset Dementia When John Asks Him What He Is Doing Here. The Very Slowed Response And Almost Borderline Slurred Speech. Is Very Telling He Is Slowing Forgetting

I was trying to get a full honour on John as well in the epilogue and it wasn't really going too well since I was barely crossing the 55% mark. Then I found a man waving a hand at me from a bench in this station and I was so happy that I stumbled upon Rains Fall and had this whole interaction. Wasn't expecting much, but after that interaction my honour shot up at about that 85% mark in an instant and it felt like an instant karma gifted by Arthur to me. I paused the game, put down the controller and stood in my balcony for a solid 5 mins after that.

Stories like this makes the real ending for the natives even sadder

"Oh it was a long time ago now." Doesn't make it easy.

Loved seeing old gang members and friends in the epilogue. I wish I met them on my own instead of internet telling me where they were, spoils the surprise. I only saw Charlotte Balfour without being tipped.

I don’t get why these epilogue interactions are so hidden it really detracts from the experience if you miss them I visited all these towns and missed Pearson, Maybe y and him and prolly more on my first play through

Damn I went to talk to him and got a lot of honor and felt good but then I did all the bandit challenges right after and feel bad cuz I lost all that honor

Are we meant to get maximum high honor after meeting Rains Fall or did my game glitch out? I was on really low honor before metting him now after he left it gave me maximum high honor.
