This is indeed a great service to the baby. But.. how is it gonna live without humans? Will it want to be seperated from Humans? How do we know poachers will not hunt the baby down? Humans train and raise animals different from their parents. Even though mother bares love their cubs they give them tough love and eventually seperate from them. Humans do not do that . They pamper their children and animal companions to the point seperations becomes incredibly painfull. People that got pets during the lockdown spent so much time with them that those pets get panic attacks whenever they are seperated from their humans.

Jude is the real hero in this story.. no vacations from being a bear mommy in the middle of the forest! Wow, what an amazing and immersive job.

I can´t get past the fact that Jude is from now on going to spend night and day in the company of a bear cub, in the rain forest, for 2-3 years. What a commitment!

I can’t imagine how bittersweet it must be to successfully release a cub you raised back into the wild. In some ways there must be no greater pride and joy, while in others I just can’t imagine raising a baby animal for years only to have to say goodbye forever and leave her fate up to nature. I have nothing but THE utmost respect for people like Jude and Dr Wong. Godspeed, little Tenom!

Bears are sweet animals that love their solitude. I’ve volunteered at a Bear Rehab center before. It’s almost impossible to get an orphan cub back into wild because they learn life skills from mother. Great attempts by the Doc and caregivers. I hope with the success of baby Tenom, many little ones get their wild life back. Good luck for Mission Success ✌️

i've seen this done with gorilla orphans too, they go to "gorilla school" 😭❤

Tenoms "mother" is an amazing person too, to commit to that time raising a cub and just completely give up that portion of his life for this beautiful little cub. 🥺 Its so moving and sweet. Best wishes to him, Wong, the whole "family", and of course little Tenom 🥰

Wow, Jude is awesome! He truly is dedicating years of his life to take care of little Tenom and the bond shows. Every child deserves a mother and a father - and sometimes that mother is a man, sometimes that father is a woman, sometimes they’re both in the same person. life finds a way and it’s a beautiful thing.

So used to watch videos like this about other countries, now this one is actually in my country. Beruang Matahari or Beruang Madu, if come up on the news, is usually when they got spotted in a human neighbourhood. I wish for the best to Tenom, the teams, and the rewilding mission.

I already visited the sun bear conservation center in Sandakan! Great place, and very good work they are doing there. Not just for the animals, but also for teaching the public about the native endangered species in a very sustainable way.

You guys shed just a little bit of hope for the planet and all the other species we've absolutely ravaged and for me every time I see a project. This is very interesting and I'll be keeping an eye out for future updates to see how it goes. IF we can really manage to teach creatures the skills they need to survive in the wild and release them, it would be absolutely game changing. I'm guessing that they'll slowly have to stop feeding her as much food over the training period so she has to learn to forage for herself, which is totally doable, but getting her to break that human bond I think is going to be very difficult - people who don't deal with animals don't understand how easy it is to imprint across species, really hoping this can work. Expect that they'd leave the cage there when she's finally set wild, closed of course for future bears and maybe she'll come back and help teach them.

Zoology has always been a special interest of mine. I saw these guys on a chart of bears and instantly fell in love. From their cresent chest mark to their goofy faces :3 thank you for helping Jude with Tenom. Very sweet ❤

the bear looks like an artist was trying to draw a black bear but their kid was asking them about anteaters the entire time

Sometimes I don't hate people....these are people I do not hate. Thank you for saving her!!!!!!!!

I love animals so much I just want to hug everybody involved and thank them for what they do. I hope one day to work with animals possibly do rescue or rehabilitation. It's my dream job.

As a Malaysian, who works with animals for almost my whole entire life started from zookeeper in 2 different zoos (national zoo and petting zoo) to vet assistant manager, to manage a pet shop and grooming centre to now as a ranger and volunteering for animal charities, Sun Bear and Binturong are extremely underrated. I remember went to Europe for work trip and nobody ever heard of those animals even tho they work in wildlife field as well. I'm glad you guys made a video about this gorgeous little fella.

Years ago I had a black dog of similar size that I called "Sun Bear" whenever she laid in the sun. Just like the young sun bear, she thrived on love and lived a long and happy life. Her name was Arabia. 🙂
