Found a full condition katana and a large backpack zombie inside a survivor house across the street from my spawn house in my current run. This instantly became my best run so far.

My 1st Katana was on a Zombie inside a Highschool who also had a baseball bat in his bag. The poor guy died trying to reenact his High School of the Dead fantasy.

My man thought holing up in the high school was a good idea. Man, school spirit day was already dumb enough. Now you got the color guard trying to eat me and the locker room has turned into a boss fight with the football team dead in there. It also smells like corpse, axe, AND body odor now.

Imagine if the devs added Michonne's "unbreakable" katana.

That depends on where you get them from, what they're made of, and how much you're willing to spend on one. Real katanas are not cheap, but even then they're still not the most durable.

I've got so many of those decisions laying around in the house (including a cheap ass katana) that maybe I should open a pawn shop 😭

Me who has casually found 9 katanas throughout my playthrough. After about 6 months they get fairly common just sticking through a zombie

Honestly had no idea the katana is THAT rare. Me, my boyfriend and our friend just started a new vanilla game and our friend somehow found 2 katanas

I always turn on the "randomized house story" to very often and manage to find a total of 3 katana in a single playthrough

I don't know if its super weird or not but I found a sledge hammer in a little cardboard box by an apartment dumpster.

I like the fact that in my most recent playthrough i got a katana in a random normal house 2 minutes into the run then died 3 minutes later from a sneaky Bastard while eating and checking the condition of that damn katana

There's a mod in Zomboid with a Blacksmith class which allows you to mend the Katana or create a stronger version of it.

When I get this game, it's going to be one of the first things I get. I also want a Scottish Claymore so I can have my clan leader avenge his brothers.

Fun fact: the Machete Is actually better because it's one handed and can be repaired Until we meet again!

Machete doesnt one hit at any skill level

I actually found a katana by accident just killing off some zombies, and one had it on its back. It was so overpowered until it broke, that was a sad day.

I usually use a machete to level long blade first, then use the katana afterwards for more damage.

While you were studying the blade I was harnessing the power of the boot. While you were engaging in the search for the elusive katana I was practicing the power of the boot. Now that all the zomboids are here, you’re all unprepared . Except for me, for I have mastered the power of the boot.

Zomboid heads go squish under army boot.

The best way to level maintenance is to chop down trees, or to use a crowbar, if you want to make a melee build it's really recommended to first use crowbar and then any weapon you want, if you have injuries on hands or arms your swing speed and strength is reduced, and of course remember to rest and sleep well.

It's okay Katana, I was garbage before I was broke.

I found the katana guess where? Inside a garbage bin. I suggest not using the katana because people (definitely not talking about myself) become overconfident and decide to go rag hunting in the middle of the night.

Currently I have a katana found in a house from the other side of the street. I spawned right next to a place with katana, m36 and a police bulletproof vest. Man I'm lucky.

I remember my first Katana. It was New Years, and my character got superbly drunk near the race track. Made enough noise to lure a horde and one of them had one sticking out of their chest. 30 zombies later, it was a hell of a way to start the new year.

If you end up getting a katana consider practicing your long blade skill by using a machete first to level your skills. Otherwise it could break quickly

"we're all up the night to get lucky"

I like to think that some kind of modern Kentucky samurai survived for 2 months before the zombies finally got him

I suggest train maintenance using crowbar and long blade with machete before using katana. I always find it stuck in the zombies, wandering near highways.

High-level Axe works just fine.

It makes a great decoration once it breaks

I once found one in a special zombie with a katana in his side. I picked it up and stopped using it as soon as it was about to break

out of my 300 hours of play time i still havent found a katana

My friend just found it at his home on day 1, we all died on day 50+ when we trapped ourselves on a bridge and a horde followed us

I found my current katana in a zomboid in a house, i think he commited sudoku in his bedroom

Zomboid is fun, highly recommend people to play it. I suggest setting the zombies to slow shamble and zero at start so you can get the hang of things before you die horribly as the game intended. Optionally set xp gain high so you can try out features you wouldn't be able to try if you don't survive for a week in game.

“Bushcraft Gear - Rare Weapons” is a great mod that adds two katana-equivalents-the Viking axe and reinforced bat for you axe/long blunt users!

you can repair it if you have a Craftmod where you build a Forge to repair Bladed Weapons, like the Katana, but to build it, you need a lot of Materials

M16 begs to differ and it snaps in half after like 2 mags

I think I prefer the machete, allows something in the offhand, and can be repaired, and also has a maximum damage bar, and with Brutal Handwork you can dual wield two of them 😂

when I was starting out on the game, i found a Katana, a baseball helmet, and some thick jacket inside a house... I died 7 hours later but 140 zombies went with me.

rng is really a something, once i found a katana and an m16 in barricaded fuel station. then in a new solo game i found the same fuel station burnt to crips

Side note, if you want that maintenance skill as high as possible without doing some fancy things, I recommend fighting with crowbars. High durability, decent damage, and you’ll level your first few levels of maintenance every 1.5 crowbars

I can attest to its rarity, played PZ for 670hours and have only found it once.

I once found 2 TWOOOOO in the same house. I was screaming

I think this calls for a “Brita Smithing Mod” that adds a Smithing skill and adds new facilities to the game that allow you to repair melee weapons more efficiently AND allow you to repair certain weapons that wouldn’t be repairable without the mod, the trade off being that to repair those weapons requires equally rare materials

they spawn best in hordes i always see them. the hard part is clearing it and searching through the bodies

One day i got a horde breaking through my base. And one zeds got a katana impaled through his stomach. A fair trade i guess.

This is why I love the pickaxe it's strong usually taking one or two hits and you can repair it

Ive found that the katanas spawn in louisville more often than any other place, i got like 20 of them.

The person who stabbed the sword into that zombie must have done his best in his survival efforts, respect to him.

You have better chance with lucky and finding it stuck on a zombie
