the fastest way to level up maintenance is to chop trees, the cheapest is pushing doors

and you can lvl carpentry in the same time

don't do this, instead, just push a door while holding a weapon, do this during downtime or storms in your safehouse. Hold space and spam the fast forward key. insanely fast XP.

There is even an easter egg in this mod, parked in a motel parkinglot with guns in the trunk, i beleave there is even one crashed with blood everywhere. Those two always spawn

if you gonna exploit just use commands and use admin panel

"What are you doing mate? Banging the door like that." "I'm leveling up my maintenance skill."

This also works on trees if you're interested in getting some woodcutting levels as well. If you run a carpenter or plan to build for the long term, I strongly advise. I'd save the doors for breaching or remodeling myself.

I accidentally learned that if you spam spacebar and left mouse button you attack faster

You can also get maintenance XP for shoving a window with a mele weapon, it might be a little slower but you still earn quite a bit of xp from just holding down spacebar and you can even do it in the safety of your base while afk

Or you could just kill zombies.

Metal pipes are a fantastic weapon.

U can do the same just by pushing a door with a weapon equiped. The door will never break, ur weapon will never break and u won’t attract the attention of every single zombie in the map

Personally im a fan of using kitchen utensils for this purpose. Spoons forks bread knives all the shitty weapons that i guess youre supposed to attach to a spear to use

the logic when you swing faster in the car is, you don't use all your body to move like in normal attack. Or just Animation coldown. XD

so imagine pressing the attack buttons for like an hour real life on a garage door

Crowbars work better since their durability is like 80 times the amount of a metal pipe and they are moderately common

Push instead so that the weapon isn’t losing durability as it only gives xp if the weapon doesn’t lost durability and you can do it as long as you want

The experience ding happens when the durability of you weapon degrades

Ain't nothing fun about the insane amount of xp you need to level up skills in zomboid, either you grind using tricks or you use mods to reduce the tediousness, the vanilla experience is ridiculous.

I wish I knew this before I rage quit delete my PZ 😂

I use other exploit method. Kick down a zombie, stand on him, equip your weapon and ctrl+space. This action will trigger stomp rather using weapon, but with this method I actually could level up my maintenance lol. I don't know about stacking zombie will multiple the exp or not, but after lvl 4 I usually stack 2 or 3 zombie, just invalidated theory that will make the exp multiplied (hard to see when at high level) Ah, also don't target zombie's head or body. Go to his leg so they would last longer. I usually go with +4 strength trait and usually they will last about 6-10 stomp (on non-fatal area). I think this method is safer than what you display cuz this one doesn't as loud as harrasing a door. Note: Don't just use space. Use ctrl+space cuz if you use space only, it unlikely give you maintenance exp.

If you watch Gambarine you already knows that

If you push the door while holding the weapon it gets the same effect without damaging the weapon

Technically you get experience from the weapon not taking damage not just using it

There's an even easier way to grind without ruining your weapon, build 4 crates around a tile with you inside and simply hold SPACE to start shoving, then go make a coffee and come back to higher levels

There is an easy way to upgrade maintenance in single player. You just need to hold space(push door)and spam F5

I use do this with log walls. Lvling carpentry and maintenance but you can’t melee attack from cars anymore. Maybe one handed weapons work.

or you can just cut down wood and get maintance that way + meat cleaver can be used as spare axes

Metal pipes _can_ break. Aluminum ones do this very quickly, steel ones do it slowly, and only if you hit them on really hard things, and copper ones don’t break, but bend instead. I'm much more concerned about crowbars in this regard; I can't imagine a single way to break one without special equipment and a clear intention!

It's silly but game balance trumps realism and I get it. You can get mods to change durability rating and I used them for a good while so I had to manage my weapons less, but the eternal search for loot is an essential part of the game imo. And before too long you'll be sitting on 15 hammers, 30 knives, 5 crowbars and you won't ever have to worry about them bc the zombies keep bringing in fresh weapons.

I dont want exploits i want to enjoy the game

The only weapon i will not use is spoon and pen

Any exploit that isn't fun or sensical should be removed

or just play normally and have fun, if you really need maintenance fast go with Repairman, Handy or Baseball Player/Brawler. This isn't one of those skills you need to power lvl through, it grinds itself on background easily enough.

This isnt an exploit. The idea of maintenance is learning to use it effectively while damaging it as little as possible. It doesn't matter what you're whacking with it.

How did you find that out!? I... I don't know. I was just curious. I just decided to get a cricket and put it in the microwave. So I wanted to find out what'd happen. And it is, surprisingly, really effective! Soon, I'll have a high enough level, so we can just go out and cook all the rotten food on the shelves and be perfectly fine! Wait, what!? Cooking rotten food that's been out there for like... 2 years! Yes, I understand that. But also, another thing I found out is that once you get to a certain level of cooking skill, you can cook rotten food and not get sick. That... makes no sense. The food has been there, like I said, for over 2 YEARS! Yes, and I'm microwaving crickets for XP. Do you have any other questions? ... How many more crickets do you need? Yes.

Is that Impala a mod or in the base game, if it's a mod I NEED the name

While stuff like this is cool, it honestly ruins the game for me. Playing Zomboid “like a game” makes it get boring after awhile. Playing Zomboid like an experience, and giving your character their own personality and whatnot, makes a run a lot more enjoyable than min-max grinding.
