I contemplated adding modded traits to this list, but frankly a lot of those traits are extremely unbalanced and overpowered. Also, there are just too many trait mods and not everyone uses the same ones. But regardless of that, what are your favorite traits from the different mods? And why?

... And be worth all of them.
So from my experience. Take Fast Learner almost no matter what. It just make you learn faster EVERY skill except Fitness and Strenght, and it means that you can be unstopabble killing machine faster. And it speeds up Nimble too, one of the most OP and hard to level up perks. In my axe fighting build i start with level 2 axes and with Fast Learner i can have level 4 or 5 already after 1 or 2 hours of slow paced gameplay. This trait is just incredible.

@@DaCouchWarrior Fast learner is like THE new player perk. New players die and make mistakes often causing them to constantly make new characters. Fast learner helps them rapidly increase their skills every time they die and if they manage to stay alive the increased experience helps stop them from dying at all. That plus keen hearing if they are particularly unaware of their surroundings and they can survive longer while not being as punished for dying.

I would drop cats eyes and always use excellent hearing, the ability to 'see' behind you gives warning of that sneaky zed that would have ambushed you without it and essential in combat when you are walking backwards with a large horde chasing you.
I play with more traits dynamic and it changes everything, just take all the traits you can't gain and take all the bad traits you can lose, then work your way towards becoming the terminator in person, it's honestly more fun than starting off strong, a real 0 to hero run, if you can survive it.

Wow awesome contents indeed! I hope you make a video about the Negative Traits next time 😁. I have been playing PZ for quite some time now and this video made me realize how important Fitness is. I dont often choose to have plus points in Fitness but this video changed my mind and that includes the trait Organized. Keep making videos like this Swayed. And if ever you’d get to read this, please make more videos like Big Mac von Cheeseburger. That’s another awesome video of yours.
That melee you using is too op 😭 it gives orgasmic stentgh😭
I'm playing a fun late bloomer build right now: claustrophobic lumberjack who's also an alcoholic, smoker, coward, afraid of blood, underweight, shortsighted... 4 str, 3fit. Dynamic traits will save her at some point(it worked for me in mp, now sp).

I swear that fear of blood trait has made start setting up bases near sources of water out of sheer habit, even when I didn’t take it for the character I’m playing.
I always pick for singleplayer: Dextrous, outdoorsman, organized, fast learner and wakeful For multiplayer/coop i always take: Dextrous, outdoorsman, organized, fast learner and fast reader
Just got into PZ about a week and a half ago and loving it so far. So excited to see what will be added in the future despite what I have seen from the community agreeing that the development process for the game has been slow but I will gladly wait. However, I just wanted to say thank you for providing captions in your videos specifically the consistency with it as I know many KZreadrs use captioning merely as emphasis or for the laughs only using it in some parts of the video. I know KZread has their own closed caption system but it's always nice and usually better to find a creator that includes their own as I find that they obviously translate correctly, and are easier to read. I subbed and am about to embark on binging your content.

No need for updates, mods already do everything the developers could hope for in the next 15 years.
personally i find that in long-term games i'd pick almost always dexterous and wakeful due to their usefulness but strong and fit usually get the negatives for their relative "ease" of leveling passively or by taking time during a safe zone either in multiplayer, upstairs in a secure base while mildly afk pumping out some xp, or by singleplayer doing the same but speeding up time, wakeful is essential no matter what since you can't increase your awake time regardless of what you do, and when you get the first level of sleepiness you lose 50% of you damage, similar to exhaustion, but with fitness being able to be leveled up, i feel the effort to improve it feels much better than waking up at the start of the game getting 30 kills with the first weapon you see before midday, my personal choices of positive traits usually goes as dex, wakeful, organized, keen hearing, outdoorsman, and then probably former scout for foraging xp, since usually its not pitch black outside and if it is, just lead zombies towards lit up areas, either through the use of a generator or battery powered lights, assuming you intend on it, former scout easily gets replaced with cats eyes if you can't use the audio to help navigate the zombies while in darkness
AYO?!?!??! THE INTRO?!?!?!!
let Big Mac cook!
there are some traits I ALWAYS pick -Dextrous -Outdoorsman -Organized -Keen hearing -gymnast it doesnt matter what I am playing I will ALWAYS pick these 5. I got so used to organized that it feels awkward when I play without. its so good. if you find a large bag or militairy bag 35 or 36 is a gamechanger. 27 or 28 isnt enough. Also a bag 30+ allowes you put furnature 30 weight in it. thats just so so so usefull. also in general more bag space is very handy and you can never have enough it makes a huge difference. Also with some trucks the space can get up to over 200 what is insane. Organized is a very slept on trait I feel like... Keen hearing is also a very good one I cant play without. not only does it make you hear better what is great but it also makes your vision circle around you bigger. its a huge plus to see a little bit more around you... this makes it when a zombie manages to sneak up to you, you can spot it a little bit more early. I play with good headphones and Keen hearing is just god tier for me. Dextrous and outdoorsman are also very handy and usefull to have since they are just all around very solid and cheap and they bring a lot of benifits and its just really easy to work with them since they both cost 2 points (4 points total) and thats very easy to get/work around it with few negatives. Gymnast is only picked for the +1 nimble, it makes a big difference. High nimble is really good but it takes months to level up. this 75%xp boost just helps and I can get to nimble 4 in like month 2 and once I reach lvl 4+ its so good. On Multiplayer/co-op I also ALWAYS pick cats eyes. In single player its nice and I sometimes pick it but sometimes I dont. Its not really needed in single player since you wont have to many night runs etc etc. I play on a co-op with friends and cats eyes is S tier perk. we have no sleep and its just awefull when its night and there is nothing to do. it makes a big difference and it makes night runs more easy. also since we have no sleep we often have night runs or adventures and every bit helps. these core 5 traits I always pick can be easy handled with a lot of decent negative perks like underweight, smoker, slow healer, thin skinned and short sighted... I often go a little crazy with my negatives and I often pick a lot but you still need a fair few to balance it out if you want to pick even more positives....

Good choices, very similar to what I usually pick too. Although, I rarely pick 'outdoorsman' and 'keen hearing' anymore because I just adjust my playstyle according to bad weather making 'Outdoorsman' useless. As for Keen Hearing, I made it a habit to always look behind me from time to time so I'm aware of my entire surroundings always, which I do anyway even if I have Keen Hearing, so the trait isn't as valuable to me anymore.

Personal thoughts based on how I've been playing; Strong, Athletic, Graceful, and Outdoorsman are my favorite picks and I'm taking Veteran for the Desensitized trait. Graceful gets the nod over Gymnast for me, you start with -40% sound radius when you're moving and -10% to tirp/fall in most cases. Graceful is 1 point less for solid value and it only gains value as the other stealth skills level up. Outdoorsman feels great at 2 points because it helps offset taking Prone to Illness for +4 points, it's +2 points overall. Now all of these traits and occupation cost -34 points and with the Prone to illness trait and the free 2 points that is short sighted while wearing glasses it's still -28. High thirst, water is not that hard to come by. Conspicuous, zombies seem really dumb with sight based aggro regardless, hearing based stealth seems harder to deal with and so this is also why I opt into more of it. Smoker, smokes are not that hard to come by either. Slow Healer, just try to get hit/sick less. Slow Reader, I'm playing solo so I have time. Weak Stomach, don't eat bad food. Restless sleeper, I'm also taking Wakeful for a +4 point swing for a negative trait and something to help offset that trait. This leaves me with +1 point so I take Sunday Driver and Cat Eyes. Sometimes the above two traits combined can cause weird sleep/wake hours and the improved night vision is really useful for doing things with those hours. If I had the points I'd still likely grab Fast Learner over Organized but I don't think it's bad, building more containers to hold things it's that hard compared to spending 6 points. I'd chalk up Dexterous to being a cheap time saver, the difference we seem to have here is I consider time to organize something I have virtually infinite of and so it's right on the line of being fine. We're in perfect agreement with the value of starting with Strong and Athletic due to exactly how long it takes to get them leveled, even with 'infinite' time leveling these feels terrible when they are so useful to have early.
I chose adrenaline junkie
Bro I love ur content
That intro made me like the video immediately
Honestly I'd put Fast Learner at the top of Worthwhile or bottom of Must Have traits, it's just that good QoL.

0:29 and 0:43 is the most out of context part of Swayed.
Will you do a video on what traits to pick on multiplayer since some of them that i notice dont apply and is wasted?
0:30 the favorite weapon on the top right says it all
Organized is valuable, IMO, as it's almost pure QoL, unlike Dextrous that helps with survivability because of shorter downtime from combat stance. Keen hearing is a must have, IMO, as one's reaction time cannot improve, and it gives the best avoidance to one of the highest threats, attacks from behind.
Keen hearing should be in the top 3
I would pick nimble over strong if your occupation doesn't give a boost to it, I think in combat the nimble skill is way more useful
Is the carrying capacity related to the level of strength, or is it a fixed stat to strong/stout and cannot be increased.
The XP think i sa bit wrong looked at skilling strengh: You 1 XP in strengh every time you swing a weapon into an Zombie and 3xp per push you use. And you get random XP (slowly) if youre over 50% of your carry capacity. Its easy to reach lvl 1 Strengh in a single day if youre a fighting style player that kills zeds all day. And the sure you have better chances of survival with high strengh but strengh perks are variable if you grind them into an higher lvl. If you use for example Dextrous or low thirst it stays forever. I even reached once in a gameplay lvl 7 Strengh from 0. Sure lvl 10 isnt possible until you plan a year of gameplay but its enough. i prefer fitness. Strengh and all skills 0 Start. You feel after reaching lvl 3 fitness than mighty XD
i know this trait is not on the list and from the mods but do you think bloodlust is considered as positive trait ?
@Swayed_Media
3 ай бұрын
Extremely. That trait ensures that you'll never be sad again. It also makes the 'Depressive' negative trait free points essentially, since you can just kill zombies whenever you're depressed.
I will take the strong and athletic at nearly any cost. The cats eye's. My three must have.
Dude I have no idea why you still aren't popular. I mean I could easly compare you to those popular zomboid youtubers. Whatever the case your videos are great.
prioritize fitness over strength. Strength levels up much faster than fitness, strength is raised by killing zombies, the game is about killing zombies, you will spend a lot of time killing them, in theory. That is, create your build, leaving last the increase in strength and prioritizing traits that you want, both positive and negative. As a suggestion, focus on having good fitness and using hunting knives, your character will never be tired and will have high critical points at high levels in that specialty.
If I could have only 1 positive trait it would be Wakeful. Dexterous can be played around, you can handle inventory issues while driving so it doesn't matter it takes longer, meanwhile nothing can be done with tiredness even super late-game. Vitamins are mediocre, wish there was option to chug 1/4 1/2 or the full pack, it's annoying going through the animation so many times just to extend fighting session by few hours. Coffee is rare, well on my setting anyway. Organized I wanted to dispute, but the more I think about it the more I agree, despite it being on my tier list at like C tier until few days back, the fact every large backpack gets to +30.0 units of space is amazing for hauling on a 4-seater car or just holding the bags if all seats are full. So many objects add up to 30 weight and it always bugged me I only had 27 on vanilla large backpacks. I didn't see much point in it since you could just build extra crates in base or use heavier car with more space if needs be, I'd not say that downside would be worth 6 points for just that. What prevents you from building 2nd bookshelf? I prefer more containers than I need just so I can organize loot into specific easy to navigate spots. I would still take it as one of the last positive traits, but it's definitely better than I thought, namely on characters that didn't start Strong. Basically either you go Strong or you go Feeble/Weak and then defo pick Organized.
@Swayed_Media
3 ай бұрын
Honestly very valid points. But because I am primarily a multiplayer player myself, I haven't found many situations wherein Wakeful had a substantial impact on my game which is why I did not place it in my 'Must-Haves' since it's real value only really shines in singleplayer. All the other 'must-haves' on the other hand are objectively beneficial in both single and multiplayer. I also disagree about your sentiment on Dextrous though. It's not necessarily about organizing items, it's about the fact that you will be transferring items for your entire playthrough (a playthrough which could possibly last 10s if not 100s of hours), and the time you spend picking up, dropping, storing, organizing items during that time is going to accumulate to multiple hours of your time. Being able to slice that time in half is way worth the value of 2 points for me.
I accidently went with light sleeper and sleepy head last run. I had to cheat and remove one in the dev menu lol
My builds usually consist of stout, fit, organized, outdoorsman, dexterous, and wakeful for single player. I've seen crazy people run both weak and unfit before and spend months getting to normal stats. While you get a metric ton of points its so painful. I ended up stopping 5 days into trying it.
Personally for me wakeful goes to must have traits list as well. Just can't play without it, seriously. (I mostly play singleplayer)
What about keen hearing ? Is it worth taking ?
@Swayed_Media
3 ай бұрын
That was actually in the first draft of my script. But after thinking about it, I felt that it wasn't as valuable as the other traits in the video, because the visual radius isn't really that big of a gamechanger. It's helpful for sure, but it wouldn't make much of a difference for an experienced player. Especially since you can just look back from time to time to make sure no zombies are behind you (Which you should do anyway even if you have Keen Hearing)

Ah yes... the trait selection, one of the most highly debated topics of Project Zomboid. Still, it just boils down to one question: "How mentally instable should my character be so that I can transform him into a merciless killing machine?"
There no cure, dying is the only cure.
0:45 WHAT??!!
Mehhhh dextrous isn't necessary if you're smart. Since you can walk faster than zombies anything that you can do walking can take time Also organized doesn't effect personal carrying capacity
Waos Edit: Wait what the fuck, i was the first? Nah, id win 💀
Can confirm, even a brand new throwaway character with improved strength and fitness will be much better than another character who's survived for months. It's honestly kind of a stupid system, especially in the light of just how much xp these two stupid skills take to improve.
yo how to put a cigarette in a mouth in pz???
fitness is better than strength, as in, when you have high fitness, strength levels faster, so fitness is for when you are ok with grinding strength, but taking stout or strong is when you dont want to grind
Have to disagree with the strong trait Compared to fitness, it's impact isn't that great. Even for combat, surprisingly - as a matter of fact, due to stamina and exhaustion I'd argue that fitness is actually more important for combat. And levelling strength is much easier than fitness - you just carry stuff. Which you will, of course. It will still takes ages, and is arguably not even worth considering, but, unlike fitness - you can actually level strength without doing anything deliberately. I'm pretty sure the only way to level fitness is to actually exercise.
Dextrois, strong, athletic, and organized. That's 28 points spent. Where are you pulling out 28 points from?

Dextrous? Absolutely not, I can speed the game up for that. If we are talking one trait and one trait alone, I'd go with Outdoorsman, so I never have to worry about getting sick, ever. Another good one to choose would be Athletic, since Strength is piss baby easy to level, or Handy, since EVERY playthrough wants carpentry and maintenance.

I never pick outdoorsman and I've never had a problem with sickness. If it starts to rain I just stay indoors. If it's cold outside, I wear thick clothing. If I get too wet I make sure to rest and dry myself up. You can adjust your playstyle in 5 million ways in order to avoid getting sick, but you can't adjust your playstyle to save multiple hours of your time by being able to transfer items faster. (Especially in Multiplayer) Sure, in singleplayer you can speed up time, but when you're in a heated situation, having to pick up a weapon in a hurry, Dextrous would be the difference between life and death. Outdoorsman on the other hand, has multiple game mechanics that you can utilize as a substitute for the trait, simply by adjusting your playstyle.
Dextrous is very overrated in singleplayer since you can just speed up time and loose nothing. Nice to have but definitly not a MUST HAVE one. Outdoorsman and Wakeful are far more essential, aswell as keen hearing.
@Swayed_Media

When playing in singleplayer, I somewhat agree. But in Multiplayer, Dextrous is everything and wakeful is unusable most of the time. Also keen hearing is good, but isn't necessary for more experienced players. Outdoorsman is also very valuable but there are plenty of ways to avoid getting sick if you adjust your playstyle according to the weather.
