Unfortunately, this has not translated into any meaningful development (other than fraud) in Nigeria itself. This makes me so mad: that Nigeria, with all its huge resources still lag behind, to the point that even smaller countries are beginning to overtake you in human development indices. Nigeria could have made Africa proud in manufacturing and scientific advancement. We could have been selling our iron ore and other resources to Nigeria@@belvedere92

Look at what Asian countries who were at the same level as Nigeria in the 1960s have achieved by now, but 'Nigerians are so smart'. Actually achieve something, make your country somewhere Nigerians stop running away from and perhaps non-Nigerians would actually like to go to, before thinking of how great Nigerians are.

Step 2: learning a foreign language, well accomplished. Step 1: learning and mastering the native tribal language, if not done yet, should be fostered and prioritized. @@johny3542 really? Did you read your third paragraph properly ? Read it again not as the author but a general reader and see what it implies, there was no “if clause “ anywhere you clearly stated that we shouldn’t measure her smartness by her mastery of a foreign language and I am trying to tell you that most of us are not but we are actually proud she stood out academically from the masses. And the fact that you said African in general does not take away from the fact that your opinion was derived after seeing this young woman’s success and people applauding her for her good works. Lastly you didn’t need to tell me of your academic conquests, I never asked and it has no bearing on the subject at hand. Narcissistic much? Nobody asked, how is that for context dude ? You couldn’t stick to it yourself you had to throw in your achievements. Abeg let somebody shine. When you finally make it to KZread we will praise you too but for now shift.

This nigerian graduate is so smooth , so fluent and so phoneticaly perfect in chinese mandarin high language, that one can't stop wonderring her performance. As a matter of fact, she is probably a native ton language speaker of the great nigerian nation. People always forget that african languages are mainly tonal as westafrican Bamanakan, Kotokoli/Tem, Hausa, Yoruba, Fon, Bamileke etc.. Not only the graphic system of mandarin Chinese is a difficulty sui generis but also the rather complicated phonological based semantic relevanz of the suprasegmental issues which is the I.D.card of chinese ans also of mainly spoken african languages. Chinese language is for me the next linguistic boundary, that modern young african academics have to go through,if we really want to get rid of poverty, sicknesses and misery in order to develop Africa. Chinese language can help on this way and contribute to shorten the way to developpement and happyness.
