Ahhhhh this is so helpful. I'm a sophomore in high school (year 11 in the UK i think) so it's time to start looking into colleges and careers. I never thought I'd be interested in medical-ish stuff (fear of needles, surgeries scare me), but I've always been fascinated with how the mind and the body affect a person. Figured I could be a psychologist or therapist. But as I looked into psychiatry, did a TON of research, and watched KZread videos like this, I think psychiatry would be really fun for me. Thank you for giving me insight!

Do you need to do a test after finishing biomed to get into medicine. Cant you just take the ukat or bmat and get in based on that? Also, does your A level grades effect your application into medicine even if you have studied biomed ( For example if i get BBB and still get into biomed, will these grades still be considered if i wanted to apply to medicine after finishing the biomed course?) .

The entrance exam is the same, so ukcat or bmat and the a level requirements are lower but still looked at

Ive always wanted to do this.. But not long after i started college I got bad depression and dropped all my classes. Now im 25 and wonder if its worth going back and doing something that will take 10 years. #conflicted

It’s ok, it’s not easy but as long as you do what you need to and have some measure of discipline you’ll be fine but i strongly recommend you do research and find out what your signing up for but if u really want to do it go for it

Hi! Why do you carry a stethoscope? that is a dead give away that you are a med student in the psych ward! I am a psychiatrist and I don’t ever carry a stethoscope :). Good luck with the rest of your clerkship.
