Can I just say that it’s so refreshing how honest you are. If you cry like 3 times a week because of school, then you show us. Not hide it. i wish to carry this on, on my channel. I am a med student in first year and in quarantine. This quarantine has taught me so much about myself needing structure and my medical school has literally left us to our own devices ugh

Pre med students: is anyone else worried about their quality of education right now? Since classes have turned to online I am having to teach myself chemistry, physics, and more. My teachers are providing no instruction and I am worried this will screw me over for the MCAT. Please tell me I am not the only one worried:(

Look at it as an advantage rather than a disadvantage. Use this time to learn how to educate yourself without relying on your professors. Professors are good for supplementation, but you shouldn't have to rely on them to learn. The more you develop the skill of learning on your own, the better off you'll be when you start studying for the MCAT and when you're in med school. Good luck!

I’m not a Med student but in the accounting profession. Self-learning will become your greatest asset when going into the workforce as you’ll only have yourself to rely on to provide the right answers to your patients (for me clients on their business). You’ll get this!

HEY HEY! For anyone scrolling through the comments, please acknowledge this comment :) I promise don't cry a lot! I think a lot of people forget that these videos show ~10 minutes of my life; however, my life runs 24hrs a day! On average, I cry once a month. But if I upload videos 4x per month (every Friday), it may seem as if I cry a lot more than I actually do. Nonetheless... I'm reading all of the comments and getting the sweetest DMs from you guys. I love you all so much. Thank you for being so supportive

12:51 “Do you ever have so much to do that you don’t want to start..but I know this stuff’s not gonna do itself..” As a 2 year med. student I 100% feel like this especially when it's the end of the week or post exams. You feel like you can breathe for like a minute and then you have to go back and study again. But you know we can do it! It's going to stick and it gets frustrating, but we can do it! Also I love all of your muted rant parts because sometimes you just need to rant even though no one is around LOL

I'm not even a med school student and I feel your pain. It's frustrating getting a score back and knowing your potential to do better. There's always ifs and buts and all these things that go racing through your head, but I'm here just to remind you that you made it through and you did that. What doesn't kill you only makes you smarter, and you're working towards being something really great (even though you're already really great). Thank you for always being so raw and genuine in these videos. It always means so much because I can relate so much lol. You do you, boo ❤️

It is frustrating to not do better when you study 24/7! I had an exam the other day and got a really nice score but I could not accept it whatsoever because of how much work I put into it. I think that exam did not represent my knowledge on the material. 😭 I am with you on the never ending studying and crying😊 It’s just the way we function. I wish you all the best!

I just finished med school. I understand you 10000 %. When you enter med school, you're used to always get the "best scores" of your class and suddently you find yourself in a class where everybody is really good and are all overachiever. It's normal to feel that way. Don't beat yourself up and don't compare yourself to the rest of your class. You desierve your spot dont ever forget that and believeee me it's not that score that is going to make you an amazing doctor. The hospital life is REAl life and this is what's important. You can do it ! Time will fly by. Don't doubt yourself.

Very interesting to see how different medical school is in the USA compared to Denmark. In Denmark, healthcare and education is free, and we even get payed a monthly salary while studying. During the coronavirus outbreak, I have been working at an isolation ward at the hospital. Recently just got infected myself, and I have been recovering for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I will be able to return to work soon (hopefully immunized as well, hehe). Been watching a lot of your videos during this time. They are very inspiring, and even though medical school is different in Denmark, I can definitely relate to the occational mental meltdowns ;-). Stay safe!

DS Hello, I go to De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in the Philippines. As of now, we are waiting for government announcement if we will continue final exams in person this coming June. If the government doesn’t extend quarantine, we will be taking our finals in person. If the quarantine will be extended, they will cancel the final exams and base our grades on our current class standing + outputs and quizzes taken during the online classes. Right now, we are still waiting for the final plans of our school. It all really depends on what the government will announce in the next few days.

it is so refreshing to see someone that is continuing to pursue their dreams and showing the difficult as well as the good times through it. I am working on my BA (I'm 27 going to be 28 this month - this comes from a whole separate stress) and I get it - you thought you did well and even if you passed with a good grade, you have set an expectation. Upon setting that expectation comes with disappointment. You are brilliant but just don't be so hard on yourself. I stopped (well, kind of) putting expectations on myself and see what my end goal is and keep that motivation. Keep it up!

13:56 - I feel you Rachel because I went through the SAME thing as you... you try so so hard and study so so so hard because you wanna get a good result but then when you get it, it's not where you expected it to be, you feel like crying a lot and ask yourself are you not worthy enough and dumb...then automatically you start comparing yourself to others..., you loose motivation to study.. i tortured myself a lot because in my orgo chem course, i tried A LOT but it didn't ended up as my expected result...I really feel you

I know the feeling - I would bust my a$$ studying, sacrificing my sleep and social life only to get a B on exams. I definitely wondered WHAT'S THE POINT OF STUDYING?? I stopped studying as hard and got the same grade, so I decided I'm a B student and I'm fine with that! LOL

I'm stll in undergrad so I can't even imagine how much more work you have to do than me but watching this video and seeing I'm not the only person who will be happy and confident one moment but then crying the next is so inspiring. Like, I relate so much to you and always feel so motivated after watching one of your video's.

I admire you med kids so much, I'm an English major and whenever I feel lazy to do something, I just think, "there are millions of medical students out there with stress 100000x greater than mine," and it helps me keep going in a way. So, thank you guys, your deaths and resurrections keep me going.

It’s good seeing your face ❤️ and girl - crying is normal! I remember crying after exams during med school cause I always expected to do better (It’s also hard when your friends are gunners). Shoot - I cried this week in residency ... in front of my preceptor and all the MAs and nurses! No shame. Doctors have feelings too. Giving you a virtual hug 💪🏼👩🏻‍⚕️

So true, we had some super heavy semesters in medical school because our course was being reformed, we essentially sat all 4th and 5th year courses in the span of a year and a half- so 6 months less time than usual. A LOT of people suffered. Point is, it's ok to struggle, all you can do is your best, then whatever happens, happens!

Hi Rachel, I know exactly how it feels to be overwhelmed. I mean, it feels like drowning in a ocean of work. I know it’s hard to convince yourself to start working, because you know that once you’ve started you can’t stop until it’s finished. I support you and I know that you can do it. I don’t know how it feels being in a med student, because I am just a 9th grade student, but I know you can survive this and be proud of you after all, ‘cause you’re really strong. You inspire me a lot, because I do want to become a doctor later and now I realise that I have to work as hard as you do. Your videos help me a lot. I love you so much! I wish I could give you a big hug right now. Be strong, be confident, ‘cause you now you’re important and loved.

Hey girl I just wanted to say I relate to your situation and we're in this together. I'm also an M1 and had an exam today. It went fine but sometimes I hope to see better when I put in a lot of work. I think it's important to remind ourselves that hard work doesn't go to waste even if it is not fully reflected by an exam. It's also ok to pause and just breathe even in the midst of everything 💖

Rachel, you are an inspiration. Just keep working hard and good things will happen and all your dreams will come true. A score on a stupid midterm may seem like a big thing today, but it's not. See the big picture of what you are doing this for. When it seems like things are overwhelming, go ahead and cry it out and get back on the horse and keep fighting. I am absolutely certain you are going to make it.

Hey Rachel!! Thanks so much for another very real video. I'm also a first year med student doing my best through the quarantine. I used to complain about having to go to lectures, small groups, labs etc. but now I realize how much I needed that structure throughout my day! Studying on your own sucks! Also I am currently studying neuro and it is SO HARD. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone! One thing I have been doing that works well is I having an accountability partner. We text each other our goals for the day every morning and then check in at night to see how each of us did. It really helps with motivation :-)

As you've mentioned, we need to be kind to ourselves. We are working so hard and pushing ourselves so I'm holding on to that and giving myself a break when I don't feel as motivated to study. Take care! We're all here working towards our dreams! You'll make it!
