I feel like whoever made that comment about crying isn’t in school to become any kind of health care professional. The programs are tough and the material is a lot because it’s important information to save lives. It’s not supposed to be easy. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to get frustrated. But the important part is pushing through those emotions and still going! I like that you show the real, raw emotions. I feel like it helps people connect with you!

I cry. I cry all the time. I am a Pre-Med student, and I still cry. Because of all the crying, I think maybe I might not be a good doctor. But this video literally cleared that doubt. I watch how hard you work for inspiration, and even though I pray you don't get have to cry, the times you do just make me feel like I am not alone. Thank you for that. People might say that you shouldn't cry and all that BS, but there are so many people like me that get overwhelmed as you do, and it's just nice to see and feel that I am not alone. And I want you to know that you are not alone. lots of love :)

Rachel, I can't believe you have come such a long way. I started following you when you had only about 10k followers and now, you are close to 70k. What makes you different from other youtubers is that you make the greatest effort to include all your emotions and experiences in your vlogs. It feels as though I have been there, with you, right beside you, experience the entire week. Your vlogs are what keep me going. You are the Best! 💞💞

I’m sure many others have said it already, but I admire your ability to be vulnerable with a public audience and share your raw emotions with us. It’s one of the reasons I love your channel. When I am doubting myself and my ability to get through medical school, you remind me that bad days happen, that it’s okay to not feel okay, and that there’s a new day waiting just around the corner. Watching you share your emotion proves to me that I’m not alone in my experiences, which is such an immensely powerful thing to be able to do for people. I appreciate you soooo much because your strength gives me strength. For that, I can’t thank you enough. Keep doing you!!!

Honestly, everyone feels like they don’t know anything. You just have to remember though that you got excited over YOUR OWN heart palpitation and then proceeded to explain the anatomical reason behind heart palpitations. Only a true med student would do that. Only someone who was truly occupied with becoming a physician would do that. You’re doing great and I aspire to do as well as you in med school!

5:02 Wow I have much to say about this. I feel that comment is rude. Clinical settings are WAY different than when you are alone with your spiraling thoughts. I am a crier too. I know there are more productive ways to cope, BUT I find after I cry I feel better and I can continue whatever I am doing with a sharp mind. So, Rachel, don't worry! We all have breakdowns because we are all human and therefore all have breaking points. It is going to turn out fine! You are successful and will achieve your goals. Just think of the bigger picture and keep trucking along! From an undergrad biology major and member of the herd :-)

I’m in grad school working on becoming an LPC. Anyone who would critique you for crying has never experienced growing pains as a person. I’ve cried more in the past 6 months than I had in the last 5 years. Something about trying to get your life started, while living your current life, while feeling alone in this process is so taxing on us. I’m not in Med school, but I too will be working in the healthcare system. You’re doing great and you inspire me with these videos. Thank you, and you’re a great singer. When you started cleaning your camera lens and then “I need to water my plants” in order to delay studying LOL 😂 As a fellow med student.. I know that feeling. I do it all the time. All of a sudden you start noticing all the tiny unnecessary things you usually don’t do until you know you have to study but don’t want to. I’ll deep clean the entire apartment and then sit down with my laptop ready and then 🤔 “ my bookshelf needs to be color coordinated” or “ I need to rearrange my closet”.

I’m sad that someone would think that crying means that you aren’t strong. It’s literally a way to let out your feelings and stress and your brain releases all these happy hormones as you cry (aka endorphins). So if anything, your brain is just looking out for you 💪 You got this Rachel!

Don't let anyone tell you that crying means you are not suited for the medical field. You are absolutely right, school is a completely different type of mental situation. The stress endured while practicing is different. Intense in a different way. They cannot be compared. Anyone that tells you different probably does not have experience being in a rigorous school program. Keep that in mind. Also know that it is ok to cry in the clinical setting when you encounter intense situations. It takes time to mentally handle seeing the things that clinical providers have to see. Eventually you will have your own way of coping with the clinical situations too. Again no one can truly fathom the things we see unless they are there. Take the harsh comments with a grain of salt. Keep on doing your thing red ant!

I have been in tough times lately in my high school being a senior. All the pressure for getting good grades and exams have been stabbing me repeatedly which made me stressed out. Being an introvert as well as numb I really could not cry to relieve my pressure out I tried but failed So also being Asian my parents also have higher expectations from me which further added up tension. I want to become a doctor and by randomly hit ur video in which you expressed how difficult was ur life and being a doctor. You showed me that my problems were nothing like ur problems also which I had to encounter later if I had to become a doctor which gave me confidence to face my own problems. And now I have been lately stressing out again but much less. Even though I don’t have friends to share my feelings I talk to myself in second person( crazy right!) or listen to The weeknd songs which feels like wine (I recommend u to try if u r stressed). I wanted to say Thank u from bottom of my heart ❤️ to boost me up. Best wishes and hope to see u as a doctor soon.

It always bothers me when people say we shouldn’t cry as much. I’m going to mortuary school which isn’t nearly as rigorous as medical school but it’s very mentally taxing, so I cry often. If it makes you feel better and have a release before gearing up to study again, it’s perfectly healthy. Proud of you, Rachel! Keep on goin’!❤️

Rachel, don’t ever feel badly about being emotional or crying. I think that it is natural and important to help you get through these challenges. It shows that you are sensitive and most likely highly empathetic. Both qualities are essential for working in healthcare and being a good physician. I look at crying as a sort of relief valve that allows you to decompress and let all those emotions out. Otherwise, I think it would be worse because it would build up and become toxic. Being sensitive is definitely not a sign of weakness, it’s what makes you human. I can assure you that you are not alone. Thank you for sharing your struggle and embrace yourself because you are awesome 😎. Best of luck on your studies!

I think it's great how you were able to let go of what was out of your control and try to focus on the positive aspects of the situation. Girl I think it's totally okay that you cry sometimes on camera. I am finishing up pre-med and am about to go into medical school, and I've even had times that I've cried myself, so I can't imagine the stress you're under with medical school right now. You're doing great though girl! Keep it up!

When you got out of lab at 5... AND IT WAS SUNNY. So, so nice! I've been struggling with winter darkness. I feel so sleepy when its gets dark at 4:30:( Just ignore those comments about your crying/emotionality. I'm the same way--I always cry when I'm overwhelmed with school or overly exhausted. It doesn't mean you're not cut out to be a doctor. This idea that "female emotionality" means you're not "tough enough" for medicine is so ridiculous. It's the kind of argument people used to keep women out of medicine in the 1800s. It's 2020, people!! Allowing yourself to feel emotions and process them is totally healthy.

Hey! I kinda had a breakdown today too, I know how it feels. I had a test today and I didn't go because I felt that I would get a bad grade so I called in sick. It's crazy I even questioned if I wanted to continue college coz it was getting to hard and too many failures already. I just didn't know what to do. Glad to see youve made it through the week though👍

Girl you are not alone! Crying is COMPLETELY NORMAL, stress is real. Im only a respiratory therapy student and I stress about every little thing, especially since I've started clinical. Every experience is new and that comes with trials and ups and downs. You gotta know when to take a break and when to push through. You're doing amazing, keep going!

its totally okay to cry. people don't understand how stressful school is. if you do bad it could mean if you get a good grade and get to the school you want. I cry almost everyday and I'm not even in medical school. School is hard period. any school. I love how your showing its not perfect! you are showing raw emotion and and the truth on how it really goes not like the other you tubers that make you think your doing it wrong. You motivate me to keep going even in hard times.

You’re crying because you’re passionate about what you’re doing. Don’t listen to idiotic people who will never grasp medicine.

There will come a time when you have to be the ONE who stands at the head of the bed, and not loose your mind, when everyone else is loosing theirs. That is what they are training you to do. Cry now when it doesn't count, so you won't have to later when it does.
