In today's video, Joe and I start the metal work on the '69 Chevelle. First thing's first, I'll be showing the process behind media blasting the body, which will yield the cleanest foundation for all of the bodywork to follow. I'll also show some of our processes, tips and tricks that'll lead to things being super clean and well finished once things are said and done. I hope you all enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

    How do you pass State Inspection while restomodding cars in the U.S. .. who do have to pay-off?! (Do you need to clear any modification with the state before installation?)

  • @saabkyle04

    @saabkyle04

    Each state has different requirements so I can't speak on other states. In North Carolina, anything older than 30 years does does not need an inspection. In my county, there is no emissions testing, but even if there were, anything older than 25 years does not fall under emissions testing, only safety.

    @@saabkyle04 Alright sounds fair.. I live in Norway.. if you change the dial on the radio, you car won't pass. (very difficult). What about when you change the Power-output.. do they require better brakes? Or similar logical requirement? (If not I am moving to the U.S. asap)

  • @saabkyle04

    LOL, I hear you! No, our inspections don't require anything that specific. If your car is deemed "safe", which also is at the discretion of the shop that is doing the inspection, then you're good to go. A basic safety inspection checks for lights, leaks, structure and the overall function of the vehicle as a whole.

    @@saabkyle04 Thanks for your answer. Explains why 95% of the restoration/restomod community/businesses operates in the U.S. The last thing we struggle with is having tires, spoilers etc. sticking out, outside the fenders/width of the body = Automatic Inspection Fail (The EU-inspection = The Socialist-Feminist-Communist Inspection). Do you have any issues modifying ride height, body fenders, tire size, adding spoilers etc.?

    That's wild! We don't have any issues like that. If we did, there wouldn't be much of an aftermarket part industry! There can be some picky things depending on how much you modify and whether it can actually be classified as "road legal", or "track use only" but those are special circumstances.
