    @@metal_complex that lock does not even compare to the CS Triad lock, Look at how thin the base of the Framelock of the Pretorian, The lock will bend and break at the weakest point

  • @metal_complex

    @metal_complex

    You can't possibly think you're the first person to try and tell me that, right? I mean no offense by this, but I'll tell you the same thing I tell the other 500 people who've said the same thing: Well before EITHER lock fails, something else will fail and render any folding knife essentially useless.. What I mean is, on ANY CS triad lock, the lock itself might be 10x more durable, but the blade, pivot, and liner/frame all have more or less the same level of durability, and they're much more likely to warp/break under force. Basically what I'm saying is, the lock strength of either knife will far exceed the natural potential force ANYONE can apply to it. Any excess is just that... unnecessary excess. No one is going to "bend out" a framelock with natural human force, regardless of how thin the relief cut is unless you're using tools and intentionally trying to destroy the knife. The strength of the triad lock is great. I'm honestly a fan of it... but anyone who assumes the excess in lock strength is necessary has been fooled by CS marketing. Plain and simple.

    I completely understand why one would need to explain the reasoning for wanting to purchase such a high dollar item. Personally I think you overstate your reasoning. If it was a $20 knife you might be explaining why it’s an ok knife for the money. If this one was $10k than that’s what it cost. I over explain why my material possessions cost what they do all the time and I regret having to explain it all. A $10 watch I own keeps better time than any Rolex I’ve owned. I still prefer the Rolex. I love paintings and many forms of Art. I never questioned its price tag. Either you can afford it or not. If you don’t think the knife is with a grand then get a Chinese clone. I love your videos and appreciate the time you spend giving us great content. However, I do disagree with you not saying that this knife is not justified. I say this and I don’t own one yet. My disposable income seems to always go to my Hinderer collection.

    Large blades with weight have never bothered me and I have always steered towards smaller knives only by needing a smaller knife for most tasks ... and then when you need a bigger knife, or want something fun in the pocket, you won’t mind having a pocket dedicated to just your knife and it’s not an issue if you’re not wearing shorts or suit pants. My suits won’t get any large knife pocket time but if it was socially acceptable, they definitely would, and I would happily carrying larger folders to all of my open houses and listing presentations lol. Your buddy has one heck of a knife collection here and it’s inspiring. He’s also a really nice guy to chat with online. Big props to both of you two knife nuts.

    Nice review buddy!!! My custom Praetorian is being built at the moment. I think what the negative critics need to be reminded of, is that the Praetorian Ti is designed to be a practical tool, for extreme circumstances and hard use. I don’t think you would buy a Praetorian to slice paper & tomatoes!!! Even though it does, very well. Simple, if you don’t like it, just move on, no need to comment. Anyway, why would people that love Medford’s care in the least that you don’t?

    I seriously do walk around in basketball shorts with a Praetorian T. Wearing sweats now and I never have a problem and it's comfortable. Now I couldn't play basketball with shorts on and wear it, but for doing everything around the house and working on the garage on my truck it has never given me an issue and I've never lost it on the couch or anywhere. Also, it doesn't make my shorts look crooked either. My shorts are not tied, but they are not loose. ... I like the weight. That's just me. To each their own. All good for sure.

Interesting knife and that choil looks like it could get a decent saber grip with a nice high choke up on the handle. Mordax reminds me of a bigger crux.

    I REALLLLLLLLLY like the finish and not to knock on other praetorians, but if you skim BHQ’s site, it’s hard to find scales that I hike personally, or blade finishes and I always seem to think that I would prefer mixing two elements of other models Together. This knife has the package. Sweetest setup I’ve seen in a long time. Very very nice.

    The question of why have a Micro Praetorian Ti has an easy answer. It has a blade that is less than three inches. Where I live, it is illegal to carry a knife which is over three inches. So the Micro works well for areas such as mine. Why have a 3 inch blade which is 0.26 ... because it is awesome.

    These knives get such negative reviews from uneducated people. Most people think you can't disassemble, they're over priced, they don't cut etc. Greg Medford himself put out a video in October 2019 on his on YT channel and says you can take them apart. Even if you get stuck taking it apart u can send it back mid breakdown. It's only when you start dremmeling it and destroying it he gets irritated. I have a praetorian half g10 half ti with black coating on the way. I'm pumped. If you have not joined the Medford aficionados group on FB you should. Secondary prices are amazing on these knives.

    This knife is not really that great an EDC. The thick blade is kind of not that great for cutting every day things. A thinner blade cuts boxes and things much easier. It will chop like gangbusters though. That said, I would still like to buy one someday. If you do buy one to chop and hack, it’s D2 or 3V for the win.
