Meal Plan Recipes:
"Sweet Potato Breakfast"
INGREDIENTS
2 sweet potatoes
1 thumb of ginger, peeled and chopped
½ c. plant milk
1 medjool date (or 2 deglet dates), pitted
1 tbsp nut butter (optional)
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp turmeric
Dash of nutmeg
Toppings: toasted coconut flakes, toasted pecans, hemp seeds
METHOD
1. Roast sweet potatoes at 425 degrees for about an hour, or until the sugar is spilling out of them and they are very soft.
2. Once cool enough to handle, peel sweet potatoes and blend them with ginger, plant milk, and date.
3. Once that is fully blended and smooth, pulse in the almond butter and spices. Do not overblend because this will make the spices bitter.
4. Serve in a bowl with optional toppings like coconut and pecans.
"Yogurt and Granola"
Just put unsweetened vegan yogurt in a bowl with granola and fruit ;) I sweetened mine with maple syrup.
"Pineapple Hummusadillas"
1. Spread hummus on a flour or whole wheat tortilla. (Corn tortillas will not work.) Add in tomatoes, pineapple, and hot sauce.)
2. Grill on a non-stick pan on each side until hot and slightly crispy.
3. Make guacamole to put on top.
"Green Salad + White Bean Chili"
For the salad dressing, mix together in a bowl some tahini, a little water, maple syrup, mustard, and your favorite balsamic. Add on your favorite greens and vegetables.
The White Bean Chili is in my ebook www.hannahmcneely.com/ebook

I used to be a hclf, wfpb, sos free vegan and got to the point where I would CRY if my significant other brought food into the house that didn’t fit those guidelines. Ya girl was crying over a vegan cookie because it had oil in it instead of just enjoying the damn cookie. So I really loved your message towards the end, I think it’s so important for people to hear ❤

Lori, as a fellow senior, please just be aware of what you body is teĺling you. I tried to go vegan because of my M.S. & listening to vegans saying a vegan diet would reverse M.S. (I know now this was my vegan experience with gaslighting) In a matter of months, I could barely walk. My M.S. needs the nutrients in animal foods, but, my brain does too. When my 74 yr old sister got CV19, she had a BAD case of brain fog. It reminded me of my own brain fog when vegan, so I fixed an animal foods heavy meals for her 3x a day & it really turned her brain fog around so fast that even her dr was surprised!! So, from 1 senior to another, just be aware. I dont feel any adult should be shamed about their diet. We are old enough to make our own decisions & its belittling & disrespectful to tell someone they didnt do ____ diet correctly! There is a really good channel, Garland Farms, who explains that there are more animals lost in plant monocropping than eating animal foods. They just arent as cute as the ones vegans gaslights with. Hope this helps & dont let anyone tell you you didnt do veganism right if your body rejects it!

This was really helpful Hannah. I was vegan for 7 years and stopped 4 years ago. I was a breastfeeding mama at the time and was just never able to eat enough. Even now and before my baby, I have a tendency to under eat. Not an eating disorder thing. Just get busy and forget. The amount of food I require just seems like so much! So I switched to animal foods just to pack a punch with less food. Eating feels like a chore to me so I just wanna get in as much calorie density as quickly as possible. Also, started not knowing what to eat after 7 years and of course my health was suffering from under eating. Anyway! All this is to say that this video gave me ideas and I feel inspired to try it again 🥰

I get tired of the same ol same ol food I make and you inspire me to try new recipes to keep meal time fun and exciting and tasty. I also love your message at the end. It's not about perfection. I love the sweet potato breakfast! I almost never have nut butter that isn't peanut butter, so that's how I made it and it was delicious! I'll try tahini next time though, I think that might give it a little more of a bitter taste but in a good way?? Anyway, keep these videos coming! I love the meal inspiration and your enthusiasm for veganism. My biggest barrier within veganism seems to be eating at restaurants. In my area (New Jersey - not the middle of no where!) it seems to be either an entirely vegan restaurant that no one else wants to go to, or zero vegan options on other menus. It gets boring eating plain pasta/baked potatoes/french fries and I will admit I have started to look the other way when it comes to what I eat at restaurants because it's just too hard to go hungry. It'll throw me into a binge cycle for the next few days and derail a lot of my health progress. So I whole-heartedly AGREE that this world does NOT want us to be vegan :(

My kids have been plant based pretty much since birth. They have so many food allergies including meats that it was better for us to go that route. I had already been vegetarian and when my husband went to the doctor and found out a lot of issues he was having was because of meat allergies like our kids he stopped eating it. He got so sick one night while eating, now he has an epi pen like the kids. One of my kids is 5 and the other is 3. My eldest is turning 18. He eats the same as us by his own choice.

Yup definitely my issue “lettuce and blueberries” 😂not exactly just that, but always end up being my issue when I’ve tried to be vegan and I never last long term, I honestly dislike tofu and love eggs 🥚 for breakfast and alternative milks just don’t taste like milk for me so I end up either sticking with being vegetarian, or I can go mostly egg/dairy free but end up eating more meat dinner meals bcuz I just get burnt out on meat free meals, I find limited options and then substitutes just don’t even taste great or the same, plus while it may be better ethically, I just feel health wise the processed factory made stuff is worse for you than some wild/local butcher purchased organic meat. 🤷🏻‍♀️😜

I'm saying this with love, not hate or disrespect. I think that the world now is actually more and more open to different options of food. Of course there's still way more meat options than vegan but we are seeing those vegan options more and more, even in regular restaurants. Plus the variety in grocery store has grown so much. I think people are actually better at not caring what or how people eat because, to each their own...

You were doing plant-based all wrong if you were going without protein. Being vegan doesn’t mean depriving yourself of protein. There is an amazing array of plant proteins out there to get your daily value. But I do understand that some peoples bodies do need animal products to function better and that’s understandable. I just want to make sure people don’t spread information.
