Me driving FIVE locos, Class 20, 26, 35, 37 and 45
A great day on the Driver for a Fiver runs, decided to just do some driving on loco's I hadn't done before, almost cleared the home fleet for driving now!
The video is organised in numerical order, rather than the order I drove them in.
The locos are:
20137 - had two goes as no-one was waiting for it at all, brilliant drive though.
26043 - Again, not bad but couldn't quite grasp the power handle positions. As you'll see I kick off the amps not knowing where the power was
D7017 - Great to sit in the Hymek! Strange cab layout to what I'm used to, didn't quite get the hang of it but probably would on an experience day
37215 - The best drive of all, wasn't sure if I was encouraged to open the power or not at first! Still has tempted me to secure a place for the driver experience course with one of the 37's.
45149 - Big cab but spacious, massive handle but ok to drive just I could not hear the thrash I might have gave due to the broken compressor pipe meant it was compressing all the time it was in forward. Still, worth the fiver!

By the end of the vid, your a pro,, arm out the window resting on the brake. I'd be, right, wheres my brew and the ashtray !! Love the chaos in the 26 lol. 😀👍
I did 50044 on SVR once - amazing experience - you are a lucky guy - thanks for sharing.
Nice video! £25 well spent, eh? I drove a 47 at the Wensleydale Railway recently and it was probably the best thing I've ever done in my life. Hope to drive a few more types in the coming months.
It’s nice to see that you just have to drive all the time James Underwood
Nice. I enjoyed watching that.. subbed
The only loco I have driven was a V63 / 630 / Gigant, a 12,000 hp Co-Co electric loco in Hungary at 100 kmh / 62 mph !
Fantastic
The Hymek would be my No1
That’s awesome
I love the sound from the old Sulzer Engines
Awesome
Brilliant first video. I would like to drive a 47, a 73 and the re-engineered Ultra 73 for comparison (not much chance of that I suppose).
Lucky boy!
That'll be my good self showing you the 37!

You lucky man
Nice driving, James. I think you got the hang of it better than me. When I drove I went from notch 1 to off too quickly when slowing down which isn't a good idea apparently (judging by the face the driver made !). I would have thought there would be some kind of interlock to prevent this if it has the potential to cause damage to the loco. I'll know next time Ronnie

lol! Yes they all do that. You can do it in modern loco's like class 66's, 67's, 43's and DMU/EMUs etc as they have technology to do that. Was I speaking to you then, I can't remember if you were the one who said about putting their attempt on KZread
Love to do something like this ❤️Classic locos and Classic Clag ❤️
I did the driver experience on the Epping Onagr Railway in 37029 fantastic 3 hour session I recommend it 😀

A few preserved railways do these. Some you can have a day with a diesel for around £300 or some diesel galas like this one will have driver for a fiver or a tenner, you hand over £5 or £10 and as above you can have a short run at driving one
