driving is stupid considering the only way a train can change direction is from a switch which is either powered (dispatcher) or manual (conductor). Engineers are termed because back in the day engineers actually had to problem solve and fix or keep an engine running to the best of their ability sort of a bad problem. They throttle modulate, as in, forwards or backwards, and thats not considered driving. So there you go, the logical and common sense version, not the stupid ignorance dumb silly English term.

Looking at those controls, they're the same as what I ran in Chicago on the newer MP36's. Only you guys are sitting on the wrong side! ha ha Airline polit are left seat, Railroad engineers/drivers on the right seat. Did Pacific National change there name to Aurizon as well. When it was owned by QR till it was floated off and made private.
@Railwayman01

No, they didn't change names. Aurizon and PacNat (Pacific National) are separate companies....😊

Pacific National was originally National rail, it was NSW government owned railway. It was sold off to Toll and Patricks. They also acquired Genisys & Wyoming Australia, which is now One Rail. Aurizon is what Queensland Rails bulk and intermodal rail used to be. PN was never owned by QR or Aurizon.

The US and Canada are about the only countries who refer to 'us' as Engineers. The rest of the world refers to us as Engine Drivers. HA! Looking at those controls, they're the same as what I ran in Chicago on the newer MP36's. Only you guys are sitting on the wrong side! ha ha Airline polit are left seat, Railroad engineers/drivers on the right seat. Except Boston and Miami got it all wrong as well with the subway motormen on the left. UGH! ;-)
