As someone who has recently started collecting Batman figures, mostly the Beyond line... This particular Batman caught my eye, I actually really like this one, I love the tactical look of Batman's gear, and his intimidating mug, the kind of Batman I wouldn't want to encounter in a dark ally. This is a Batman figure I can take seriously, some of the others look to goofy for me.

I like it alright, but a mcfarlane design without a large flowing cape seems like a missed opportunity.

Agree, the one thing I hate most about his figures is that they dont come with fist hands. They usually come with weird relax hands, who would want that?

If I were to guess, the hands are sculpted to look like they would work as relaxed, fisted and gripping hands all in one so mcfarlane doesn't need to spend the budget on extra hands

I wasn't planning on picking this figure up. But, I just might since there's a leak of a Wonder Woman designed by Todd ,and I think that it would make a cool looking shelf if Todd decides to make a Superman designed by Todd. Which, we have to assume is coming since he's making Wonder Woman.

I love how this figure looks. Reminds me of how Mike Mignola draws things, aside from the meaty legs. Sadly, my figures right leg broke on the hip connection, aka can't really pose him aside from the pose I got. Still a good figure imo

I saw a bunch of these at my local Walmart for $15 but passed. I liked some elements of it but not enough to buy one. Imagine how noisy this Batman would be trying to sneak around with all those daggers, grenades, and pouches full of gadgets lol.

Todd wants to makes statues, but he also likes money, and people want figures that have articulation.

It would make sense that Batman’s mask is really a helmet, making his head bigger.

I really prefer this color vs the black and gray. It's got a pulpy swashbuckling vibe to it that makes me think of that Neal Adams era. Fists and better range for some fighting poses and it would jump to being one of my favorites I've picked up this year. As it stands, I've found one decent pose and have just left him like that.

Love the drawn design, figure looks special needs, though…

Mcfarlane is trying to make statues that are posed a certain way and that doesn't work for action figures. Collectors are going to have different idea's for poses and lighting. This figure suffers from it as it's designed to be at an elevation with that head sculpt. Articulation The forward ab crunch needs to be fixed and it can be done under the hood without sacrificing the sculpt. Just add in a slot so the upper torso at least have the range to move forward. Additionally as much as I appreciate the seamless long jacket , Arrow, Joker, Deathstroke, The Witcher, Robin, and other characters should have a two part torso. I think Green Lantern is trying to be a compromise which I hope they explore further. Hands These figures all need to closed fist hands. That's it, they are all combatants and they needs closed fists. They need one gripping hand to carry something. They don't all need two. But there should be a mix of right/left handed gripping hands if some people want to have dual gripping hands on say Superman. The second hand should be an action pose unique to the character if a 2nd gripping hand isn't required. So this Batman needs two fist hands and two gripping hands. Superman though needs two fist hands, one grip hand, and one action pose(which could even be an alt grip hand). Faces/heads Mcfarlane needs to work on this because it's the weakest part. Elbows/Knees Needs to be cleaned up. The first figures had a nice round cut but then they stopped and became jagged. For some reason it's not problem on thinner figures(Batman Beyond) but the thicker arms have weird cuts). These figures are not optimally designed. They do a lot of things well at this price point. They can just tweak a little further for a better standard figure. This doesn't have to be if you want better articulation then expect a 40 dollar increase and weaker sculpts. No they just need to make some tweaks that if the injection mold is designed intelligently they can adjust. Now accessories require some planning and compromise. Maybe the hands are exactly the same for most even if certain figures should have different designs. Mcfarlane is at a tipping point and I thing they can dunk the touchdown for a hole in one.

I really want Todd to make a 70s style blue and grey suit batman with the long ears and yellow bat-symbol.I did hear a rumor of an upcoming Year 2 Batman figure .

I already have this figure and I can definitely agree with your critique. That said, I still like it...a LOT. I feel it compliments the Death Metal batman perfectly. I don't mind the lack of fist hands for this particular figure since he has swords, but it does bother me on other figures. I am sure they can throw in some fists at no real cost.

Man, Batman is thicc, what's he been eating? The fact that this design was done by Todd himself, with THAT small a cape, baffles me. His whole thing is comically dynamic and large capes. How can they make a neat design like this look so dopey?

So far the only batman I have wanted has been Flashpoint Batman. Very good figure. The rest just fall short in either articulation or aesthetic for me.

The only thing that I can’t make my mind up with if I’m okay with or not is the knives in the cape, I mean, it’s a cape, a flowing piece of cloth, and he stores weapons there?!?!?

This thing is ugly as hell. Like you said, some good proportions on the legs and I dig that Arkham suit style riot gear padding on the pants, but that's all I'm seeing as positive. What kills it for me are those flippy floppy knives on the belt. What are those supposed to be, props from Spirit Halloween?

Nice review, I'm hoping that you are planning to review the Death Metal Wonder Woman in the future. Personally I think she's one of McFarlane's best releases so far and I'd love to hear your thoughts on her.

McFarlane put the spikes on the arm and made sure the lower elbow joint is stuck just so you'd hurt yourself on them. "What do you think of my Mortal Kombat figures now!?"

The only reason I picked this up is because I just saw it on Amazon for under $10

My swords are gold for this figure and don't have the knuckle protectors on them. I like these figures and I don't expect them to be perfect at the price point.

I liked him, in general, but i wouldn't buy it. Also, i would love to see more videos about your action figures line. I really enjoyed watching the tech stuff about articulation, joints, etc. If you have some free time to make (or want to) another of these videos, i would be glad.

I agree...my figure was a bitch to articulate out of the box. Gave it the old hot water bath and he relaxed (like anyone would). Plus...6:43...bigger balls are always better. Classic Dude.

Todd's designs of these recent Gold Label releases looks weird. This figure would have looked much better only if the head sculp didnt look so sad. Cant wait for your review on the Witcher 3 Geralt figure.

I pretty much gave up on mcfarlane line. I just get the mafex dc comics stuff. Hush figures have been great. Mafex qc could be better tho lol

Idk we are talking 20 bucks a figure with McFarlane to 100 with mafex. I like mafex but for that price the QC is issues are unacceptable. However you see that mafex dark knight returns Superman reveal? Looks awesome. Also there is a mcfarlane new 52 Superman on the docket. I personally will continue to collect McFarlane but also i am partial to Batman.

@@karljonez4423 articulation for mcfarlane is to garbage for me. I've been lucky not to have a major qc issues. My superman arm was loose but I just had to push it all the way in. My catwoman glove wasn't glued properly so I glued it myself. The rest of my figures had no issues.

Hard to make good figures when you crank them out by the dozen. That said, how is it that after making 40 Batmans in the course of a year, that they have yet to make a good one? I get the feeling that toy companies these days are more interested in making what they want, rather than making what the consumer wants.

Community seems pretty harsh on this Batman and the Gold Label version. Not that I’m a big reviewer but as a collector, I really like them!

This suit is very controversial. I personally like it but I understand why some people might dislike the design.

GAD! This thing is hideous!! What is this tendency to always make Batman look like he's some weird pirate going to Mardi Gras?? All of the garish excesses of the 90's are on full display here! We're just missing some gratuitous bits of armor and shoulder pads.

Fuck!, I wanted the figure, I loved the design, you Made it look good as hell with this camera of yours. Better outside the box that I could have ever thought... Yet the articulation is a mess, the stupid torso is good looking, but the problem at the diaphragm puts you off horribly. REAL DISASTER IS WHAT YOU NAME THIS FIGURE LIKE.

It's like if batman was looser and stopped working out this is what it would look like! Even in Todd's artwork he fails in body proportions

It sucks that they are making more Batman figures instead of other DC characters. All this monster versions of Batman are cool but it's suppose to be DC Multiverse. I want comic versions of Martian Manhunter, Aquaman etc... Please no more Batman Todd.

I don’t like any of these McFarlane figures at all, but I watch any new video from Anthony bc they’re just that good.

When are we gonna get an excellent or at bare minimum, good, regular, well known version of the Batman figure from them? Probably never. Their DC figures are mediocre at best.

Don't hate it because of no exchangeble hand. Lets talk about the detail it come with that price tag. Just very outstanding if compared to Marvel legends. They just make the Marvel Legend look like cheap kids toys
