I can literally relate this MBA rap song to my story . I too was part of this bandwagon of going abroad and doing MBA. I chose an easy path without writing gmat and got admissions to a university in UK. Spent money for my visa and CAS which I lost but I’m glad that I did not chose that path . Thankfully I had friends and family who guided me not take this path and made me understand the other side of the coin. It’s better to be guided my someone who speaks truth rather provide fake motivational content and consultancies who literally wants your money beyond nothing. I’m learning for my gmat now and hopefully I’ll see where I stand and decide on my future . Firstly write your gmat and see where you stand and then plan your studies in abroad or India Do not waste your money and never take an easy path . I literally wish this video was out sooner when I was blinded by the truth . Thank you so much Sameer for speaking truth with such a creative video. 😊Kudos to you 😊

Hello sir, I'm in my final year (BBA) and was initially planning to do MBA in Canada(fall 22). But then after discussing and watching a few videos many of them kept saying there in Canada they value you work experience more than the degree. So now I changed my plans to do MBA right after BBA and instead get 2 years of work ex then apply for MBA. But for that is there a specific criteria or relevant to BBA fields only I should work in or just any 2 years of work ex is needed to get into a above average university in Canada. It would be great if you could answer! Please and thank you!

It was a wise decision to get some work experience first, before applying. It would be helpful if you can get a job in the same industry that you want to work in, after the MBA as well. What we prefer doesn't matter :-) You have to take the decision based on the opportunity and risk evaluation. No point in spending a lot of money and then realising that it isn't as easy as it first seemed. Why not try to make the transition in India first, rather than in a country where you have no support or network?

Some viewers have asked us why it's difficult to get a job abroad and the rationale behind the underlying message in the video. Here's the context. In their impatience and overenthusiasm to go abroad, many naïve candidates underestimate the importance of research and risk planning. Without much background analysis, they join mediocre programs - possibly promoted aggressively by study abroad companies that get a commission from unranked universities. Such programs don't have much market value, causing all the issues in getting a good job abroad. If it wasn't clear from the video, here's the message: Before going abroad, make sure you do complete and thorough research on what you from from the degree, and whether the program can deliver what you expect. Good luck!

Arizona State university is offering STEM designated FastTrack MBA of 12 months to people already having one MBA degree. Is it advisable to get into this? Also if you can suggest Is advisable to pursue MBA from US if it is not from IVY league. I have 8 years experience in corporate sales (India)

  • @MBACrystalBall

Most second MBA applicants who work with us aim for higher ranking programs with better brands, since that's what was missing in their first MBA. But if you feel ASU ticks all the boxes for you, go ahead. If the companies/roles you're targetting don't necessarily require an ivy league, then your options open up. But also keep in mind - for American programs you'd be closer to the outliers in terms of age and experience. That can be an additional challenge to consider if you go for 2 year programs.

Instead of leaving the field completely open to all possibilities, it would better to first figure out what your career goals are, and which degree will get you there. Without that it will become very confusing, and you will not have clarity about what you're getting from the degree.

It's an unusual and unique Canada-focused option. Recruiters outside wouldn't be familiar with it. Which is most international students prefer a degree that is universally recognised. Waiting for a year or two, to gain some work experience in India, may be a better option. Is that on the mind too?

Your MS gets completed in 2023, right? And if you're planning to work for 2 years after that before applying, it means the program will start in 2026. That's a long way away to be worried about. A better approach would be to focus on what you're currently doing, excel in it and find a good role that's aligned with your long term aspiration to work in consulting. Do grads from your college get into consulting companies?

Hello sir I am selling on e commerce sites like Amazon and Flipkart from past 4 years and I will be graduating in Bcom this year. They give acknowledgement certificates to their top 20 percent sellers every 3 months and I have several of them. Also I am a certified digital marketer with 19 certificates from Google and Facebook. I wish to do MBA from UK and after some research I found out that there are only 3 to 4 good Universities there like Oxbridge and LBS.Will selling on e commerce considered a relevant work experience for MBA there or should I do a job in some company for a couple of years before applying? Please share your insights.Btw song is great😂💯

Glad you liked the song. Since you're in a unique position in terms of experience/education, for matters related to eligibility, it's best to check directly with some of your target universities. The policies tend to vary quite a bit and evolve over the years. Also in some cases they may take a decision after looking at the overall profile. Try to get that over email, so you have something concrete to go by.

Hi Sameer. Great song but it does sends chills down my spine as I am in the same boat. I am a mech engineer with 7 year of work ex as an engineer/ engineering manager. I applied for MEM/ MBA in Canadian Univ for f2022. Have an admit from Lakehead University. Awaiting decision from others like Ottawa. I know Lakehead univ is not that great but it’s not that bad too, also The lower GMAT score requirement ( I have 550) and lower tuition fees ( 30l) made me apply to these univ. Should I go for it ? Due to GMAT waiver, I could have applied to higher ranked universities but their fees of around 50L was much higher than the loan I would like to take . Also I prefer MEM more than MBA and I know I have more experience than most people applying for it. But what if you like the curriculum better than MBA? Should I go for it if I get an admit for MEM in Ottawa etc ? After graduation, I would like to work in Canada in engineering manager/ project manager.

Also Sameer, can MBA crystal ball offer services which I can answer the questions I have. Like MBA or MEM for my profile ? Guidance about whether I am making the right choice etc ? I have gone thru yr site but the services are for SOP/LOR etc. I am mostly talking about career counselling or something like that.

Your concerns are justified. When you have 7 years of experience, you need to be extra careful before taking the plunge - compared to younger folks who do not have as much to lose as experienced professionals. The lower you go in the rankings, the tougher it gets to dig out facts and data on the program. Which is what makes the decision riskier. On the second point on career counselling, are you looking for something on these lines? www.mbacrystalball.com/career-counselling/

Thanks for clarifying. We're not familiar with the program and university (heard it for the first time actually) that has offered you an admit, so there's not much we can do to help you decide. And probably other consulting teams would be in the same position, even if they don't readily admit it. Your best bet would be to take the decision independently, since you'd already put in the effort to find out the risks and rewards of applying to those.

Hi! I am Neha. I am a Bcom hons graduate and a working professional with about 5 years experience in the back end operations department in the insurance industry. My passion includes content creation (food+makeup) on social media. Currently I'm looking for a career switch and I am deeply inclined towards pursuing my career in marketing. I have dreamt of studying and settling down abroad years now. I want to pursue a MBA in marketing course. I require your guidance for the same and my queries are as follows: 1. Which country is the best for pursuing MBA in marketing, not just academic wise but also job wise and future opportunities? 2. From the research I have done, I understand the best countries are USA and Canada. The course fees there are also quite high. I want to understand does the part time job suffice for loan repayment within 2 years? 3. On expiration of work visa, are there chances for Indian students to have their work visa extended and eventually apply for PR in Canada/ USA? What is the process like? 4. Does the MBA degree hold value in India? Is there a possibly to bag a high paying job in India incase things don't work out in the foreign country or on work visa expiration? Please help me out here. I'll be grateful!

    1. India would be the best since you don't require a work permit. 2. Salary from a part-time job is unlikely to cover the MBA expense. 3. We're not immigration experts. So not in the best position to answer this. 4. Read this: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2016/05/20/value-foreign-mba-india/
