Going purely by age and experience, an MBA seems like a better choice. But we've seen (and worked) with mature candidates who've chosen MS too, though that number is substantially lower. No country is a 'safe' bet, including India. When you're leaving a stable job, you're simultaneously embracing all the risks that come with job hunting. When you're outside India, those risks get amplified.

In most cases, bschools do not ask for documentation to prove what you've claimed. Unless they have reason to suspect that the candidate hasn't been completely honest. Several bschools also hire third parties to carry out background checks on the candidates. If what you say is true, you have nothing to worry about. Just ensure that you clarify what you've done and in what capacity as transparently as you can. When are you planning to apply?

If you consider the kind of jobs that are getting replaced by AI, you'll see a trend. They're mostly roles that involve grunge work that's monotonous, time-consuming and voluminous. A high GMAT / GRE is always helpful, but it is not a cover-up for a career gap. In your case, the gap is quite significant, so don't rush into an MBA before you're clear about where you want to take your career. The average experience in most American MBA programs is around 5 years. That makes 2 years too less. On the 3-year degree query, we have a detailed video on how to apply with 15 years of education. Assuming you're referring to the Asia School of Business, we don't have any first hand information about the program. So you'll have to rely on your initial research that prompted you to apply there - hopefully there were aspects beyond costs too. Also, don't include MIT in the decision, as the collab would give you no added advantage over ASB's independent brand value in the market. Btw, there is a wide range of programs between 15L and 1 Cr. So you don't have to settle for either extreme. What GMAT score did you apply with? Didn't consider programs in Europe?

Can MBA graduates from India get Job at USA or Canada

Yes, they can. And that's one of the primary reasons why so many flock to these countries and pay huge fees. But there are no guarantees, even for Harvard MBA grads. You'll see many top tier bschool graduates heading back home after their MBA. How much experience do you have, and in which role?

Hi Sameer Quiet informative video. I am in my mid 30's and thinking of an International MBA in Canada as I would like to settle there. I am an engineer and have 10+ years of experience in the extractive industry. I am looking for a career in the sustainability domain. What are options available for me? I saw UBC have a career climate track .

Your experience would be on the higher side, considering the averages for the regular 2-year MBA programs. There's Ivey to check out, as it's a 1-year MBA. If you go for the other programs, you may be seen as an outlier. Which isn't so bad, as long as you are aware of the risks and have a mitigation plan. Not looking at other regions?

@@MBACrystalBall Thanks Sameer for the response. I am looking at immigrant friendly countries. Sauder program is 16 months long i suppose. Which other countries can I look into? Yes ivey was in my mind, but thought of sauder because of its climate career track. Also i have started with your mini MBA and you have done really great work i must say.

Other than Canada, you could check out the UK, which has recently made their work visas more student friendly. And it offers shorter duration programs too. Many have Australia on their list, but it's not an MBA destination for brand-and-quality focused folks. Applying this year? Could you please share a rating/review for the mini-MBA?

UK has recently put a restriction on converting student to work visa. As I am planning to move with my family, i thought Canada would be an easier option as spouse can get an open work visa. Am planning to apply next year. I will write a review for the mini MBA for sure.

@@mynameisjaya True, that was a populist but illogical move on their part. Not allowing families to join students will hurt them. Canada does seem more attractive on that front.

As you mentioned that many European countries don't have accomodative immigration policies, would UK or Ireland be a good destination for MBA if one doesn't wish to return back to India post the MBA?

Mainland Europe has been a tough market to crack for international students, with visa policies as well as cultural/language hurdles. But he tide has turned in the UK from last year, with the new policy on more favourable student work visas. Ireland is quite favourable too, but the number of MBA opportunities isn't as high as it is in the UK. What experience do you have? And what industry/role are you targetting?

@@MBACrystalBall I am a recent law graduate, as of now I will be working as a corporate lawyer for atleast 2-3 years before I go for the MBA. Post MBA, I am aiming for a career in fintech (open banking etc). So both career and location change is the aim.

Many European programs are shorter in duration (typically 1 year) and attract a relatively older student cohort. So 2-3 years would be on the lower side for those programs. Are you dropping USA from the list for the same reason - visa challenges?

Australia attracts thousands of international students, but other than a handful business schools, many of the universities there don't exactly fit the global quality standards. In fact, this years Global 100 MBA Rankings published by the Financial Times, there's just one bschool (AGSM) that makes the list. We have a video on MBA in Australia where we explain what's happening there.
