MiM is a masters level degree. If you have gone for an MiM after BBA (or any other 3-year bachelors), you would have the requisite 16 years of education for an MBA. So there's no issue.

No, you'll need work-experience too. The 16-years of education is just one of the many things that bschools consider. It isn't an alternative to work experience. All good schools look at a mix of aspects - education, experience, test scores, application strength. Great video guys. I’m a BCom graduate with 3 years of work experience in investment advisory. I’m considering getting an MBA now. When I start the application process next year I’ll be at 4 years of work experience. What would my chances be with regards to getting a top MBA (LBS, UC , Cambridge etc) assuming I get a GMAT score in around the 700 range? Would you recommend more work experience or would 4 years be competitive?

4 years is a good time to apply. Talking about chances based on limited data would be a speculative exercise. Get a good GMAT score and drop us an email with more details about your profile and plans.

It's depends on the school...an averaged grade students but with about 7 years experiences...in fact make the applicant more suitable. The academic writings and critical thinking can be developed during the MBA journey.

Ideally you shouldn't need any other course after an MBA. Unless you're going for a PhD. A diploma after a reputed degree would be a step down, isn't it?

More than the ranking (which tends to vary based on which publisher publishes it), the overall reputation of the university matters. The issue is that admission officers in international programs are generally clueless about all the thousands of universities that exist outside their home country.

There are no guarantees that you'll get a great job after MiM either. Be aware of the challenges of going abroad with no experience. Our general recommendation is to get some work experience after graduation before considering any expensive international degree. The alternative is to consider an MBA from one of the good bschools in India that accept CAT scores.

An MBA prepares you for a more broader set of careers, while SAP certification is more specific for an IT career. You don't need both.

MiM degrees are more popular in European countries where 3-year degrees are more common than the US-style 4-year degrees. So it may not be as much of challenge, as it is for MBA admissions.

Some of the top schools have made it 'test optional'. But the number of such schools is fairly limited. So better to take the test and look at a wider range of options.

I'm an Egyptian civil engineer who graduated in 2008, I'm interested in management and business study. I have gained my PMP certificate in 2013. Considering your age and work experience, a 1-year MBA might be a better fit. The other masters degrees you've listed are more suitable for candidates with very less experience. Check out the Financial Times Global MBA ranking to find the top programs in Europe.

Hi, i emailed looking for paid career counselling but was redirected here since you guys are running full (appreciate the no bs approach). I’m in a dilemma as to whether i should do a MBA/MiM or get into my family business directly. I’m a CA and 21 yrs old. I did my schooling from a boarding school, Mayo College,ajmer; giving me an “away from home” learning experience. I did my CA articleship from KMPG, mumbai; which again, i believe gave me a good professional and learning experience. (Mentioning in case it helps you assess) I’ve been stuck in this dilemma for about 2 months now. I’ve read countless blogs about MBA and MiM, spoke to about hundred people, read Sameer’s book, saw videos on youtube, etc etc. But im still not able to make up my mind. Do you think an MBA/MiM from a good uni would add value to me considering my end goal is family business and don’t really care about the degree, or am i better off going straight into the family business? Seems like you posted this multiple times. We've respond to it on the other video. Re-pasting our reply for the benefit of others who're in a similar situation. - - - You don't need career counselling for that query. From our perspective, it's quite straight-forward. We don't think it helps much to get any management degree without several years of full-time work experience. In your case, you have the additional clarity that you're not getting a degree to impress anyone. The best way to learn about business is to get your feet wet as early as possible. Having a family business makes it that much easier for you to learn the ropes for a few years, and then take a call whether you need a formal degree. if the answer to that (after a few years) is yes, then you'd be in the right position to aim for mainstream and reputed MBA programs.

Harvard looks at multiple aspects beyond the test scores. Getting a high score is an advantage, but not a guarantee.

Hi sir, I'm a BCom Honors Student. I'll be graduating next year. I'm planning to do an MBA abroad. I was looking at Canada as an option. Knowing that I would be required to have some work experience, Ive decided to work for 3-4 years after which I'll start with the application process. What you've done (reaching out directly) is the best approach to find out which ones accept 3-year bachelor's degrees. Admission policies keep changing, so never a good idea to rely on what third parties say. Let's hope you get more responses from the bschools you've asked.

Online programs typically aren't very helpful for career changers. And such programs generally don't offer placement support either. So make sure you're aware of what you're getting into, before you take the plunge.

1. We're not aware of that certification program. But from the sound of it, seems like it does not have much overlap with what you're planning to do. 2. Yes, investment banking is specialised discipline within finance.

Getting a masters degree without knowing where you want to take your career will not be a wise decision. The confusion that you currently have will continue to trouble you during and after the masters. Which is why we keep recommending getting some work experience to understand what's good and what's not in the 'real' (non-academic) world out there.

Does doing certification courses like CFA, CFP, ACCA, CIMA help in getting admission in top b-schools if our 3 year bachelors study is not good enough to get into top b-schools?

For matters related to eligibility, rather than relying on a 3rd party's opinion, it's best to check directly with some of your target universities, as the policies tend to vary quite a bit.

Rotman accepts 15 years of education. They changed their policy a few years back. But re-check on their site to ensure that they haven't changed it.

The exams are the same (GMAT/GRE and TOEFL/IELTS), they don't change based on your bachelors degree.

Top MBA programs tend to be quite hectic. Excluding the internships, you will not be earning much when you're studying. If you're not in a comfortable financial position at this stage, don't rush into it. Work for a couple of years more and then take the call.

What is your career objective...to stay in Finance industry or to start new venture? Perhaps stay for another 2.5 years...and assess the market changes, than decide. In between do explore part time MBA or better still MSC in Investment & Finance is you intend to be the expert in finance sector. Do explore private equity and ESG spaces, also prepare to take up either CFA or CAIA to back it up.

European management programs tend to be smaller than US programs. This is by design. What's more important is to evaluate what goals you have, and whether the program will be able to meet them.

@@the.hopeworld We're not aware of any top MBA degree that offer that specialisation. However, there are some that offer dual degrees in management and law.

Sir mba in hardvard University for 3 years is accepted what are the requirements can middle class background afford it to study there please give information,then and how should I develop good like gmat best score and communication

Yes, Harvard Business School accepts 3-year bachelors degrees. Top MBA programs are quite expensive. We have a separate video on HBS. Check it out for more details.

Hello sir....I'm in the 3rd year of Bcom, and looking forward to do MBA....I will probably complete my bcom degree in the year 2022 August or September may be .....will it be ok to apply for GMAT exam after September will I be left with enough time to apply for GMAT exam....I don't wanna waste a year ....if u can give info for this it will be a great help for me.....thank you ..... hoping u understood what I ment to ask....

You can take the GMAT. But it would be too early to apply to MBA programs abroad, if you don't have work experience.

@@MBACrystalBall i have 3 yr experience in corporate hospital as a Medic officer & now i'm practicing in Gujarat. My agent said in abroad there is 0 value of BHMS(bachelor of homoeopathy medicine & surgery ) now i'm planning to study canada or usa for master's but they denied so i thought i apply on my wife education file she did completed bsc micro & pgdmlt now we want accurate guidance regarding course selection which one would be better on our academic background & wr r eligible or not. It's very helpful for us. If you provide email address It would be more helpful. We can share our documents & also take advice how do all processes & select clg/universities.

Doesn't seem like an issue, but it sure is unusual. So, it's best to check directly with some of your target universities, as the policies tend to vary quite a bit and evolve over the years.

Sir im currently a final year student, pursuing BBA in India and is willing to pursue abroad education. Will MBA International be a good and fruitful option? In Australia? What's the future prospects after this course?

Most recruiters are unfamiliar with it, since it's not as common as the MBA. That can be a challenge if you don't get a job in the country you graduated from and are forced to return home.

I’m a fresher wasn’t getting good roles after my grad (BBA) I’m giving cat this year but provided the chances of getting b school in India are narrow . Are there any international opportunities for mba for fresher except USA

All the good international MBA programs expect several years of work experience. But there are other masters degrees that accept fresh grads - like MiM, MEM. We've covered those in separate videos. Do you think you can get a decent job with the current BBA degree, or would it be difficult?

That's the common sentiment echoed by most BBA grads. Many try for CAT options in India, where it's common to go for an MBA immediately after graduation. That's not on your radar?

Double degree are generally an inefficient use of time, money and effort. Best not to rush in, and wait for the right opportunity after gaining a few years of good work experience.

All good international MBA programs will expect several years of work experience. If you don't have that yet, be patient and gain some exposure before considering an MBA.

Yes, as mentioned in the video, you'll have to target programs that accept 3-year degrees.

ACCA/CMA/CPA... WILL THAT CONSIDER AS A 16YR EDUCATION... I HAVE COMLLETED BCOM

While there may be exceptions, certifications are generally not considered as alternatives to full-time degrees.

Between the two, the full-time MBA from a good bschool would have a much higher market value than the distance MBA.

Our focus is primarily on MBA programs, since it has a wider, more global recognition. Though we help with MiM applications, we haven't focused too much on it, since it is more niche and regional.

You can do it from Indian bschools that accept CAT scores. For international MBA programs, you'll need work experience after graduation.

If you get a job in an IT company, it's better to work for a few years first and gain some experience. It'll give you a better idea of which direction you want to take your career.

It's uncommon so they don't mention it on the website. You'll have to reach out to each of your target universities and ask.

Yes, since your 4-year degree (after 12 years of schooling) would give you 16 years of education.

Rather than rushing into an international MBA, it would be better to gain some work experience first. A certificate course is not a replacement for real work experience. Be a little patient and build your professional profile first.

Yes, you'll find success stories on our website about BCom+CA grads who've done it. But you'll also need work experience, as well as a good GMAT/GRE score.

Canadian bschools like Rotman accept 3-year degrees such as BBA. You can check the official sites of other programs you're interested in, if you qualify to apply.

Depends on the career path you choose. Some like i-banks require an MBA for vertical growth. Others may not need it.

The MCA degree will compete the 16 years of education requirement. Other than that make sure you gain some work experience too before getting an MBA.
