    @@aushatthapa181 Look at the rejection as a blessing in disguise. You were too young then and long-term career clarity is generally missing at that age. So the degree may not have given you the RoI you'd expect. Complete your education in India and work for a few years. Build a strong profile, and if an MBA is still on the radar at that time, give it your best shot. For now, don't worry about international degrees. How does that idea sound?

  • @MBACrystalBall

    @MBACrystalBall

    2 жыл бұрын

    Not really. Tuition alone won't take you there, but other factors will. Let's look at how it works using an example. Stanford's annual tuition is $76,950. So, for two years, you can double that. The challenge is when you start adding the other expenses to this base tuition - like living costs, books, transportation, insurance. The annual amount shoots up to $124,000 for a single student, and around $150,000 for a married student. That's the real amount to consider. For a 2-year program, it can be between #$25,000 to $300,000.

    Hi Sameer and Crystal Ball Team, Firstly I would like to thank you from bottom of my heart for making these videos, because it helped me to get lot of info about MBA program which I was looking for. I read the book "Hype of MBA" as well 4 years back. I want to pursue a regular MBA as that would give me more learning than the executive one. Could you please guide me what would be good for me to rise in my career. I have completed 'B.Tech' in "computer science" in 2007. Thereafter, working in IT industry as 'Senior Quality Analyst' from past 15 years and I am not growing in my career. I work for a good Organization currently. Want to step up to the leadership roles, however due to lack of experience in leadership roles, I am not being offered that role. Thought MBA program will help me grow in career and at the same time will give me learning with skills of leadership roles. Though I have attended many leadership trainings at work and already implementing it, still I am not being promoted. Thought MBA at international level will give me a lot of learning and accelerate my career exponentially. Please guide if this is the right thing to do. Or what could be best for me to go with.

    A regular MBA after 30 does become quite tricky, since there's a lot of bias among recruiters (even if they don't publicly admit it) while recruiting grads with significant experience. Most applicants with your experience who work with us target programs such as these. Check them out to see if there's alignment with your goals and interests: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2018/05/14/sloan-fellows-program-review-mit-lbs-stanford/ Keep in mind that these are also quite expensive, and a lot still depends on the mentality and unwritten policies of the companies you approach during the recruitment phase. Start talking to others who have a similar profile who're attending MBA programs. You'll get more ground level inputs from them to help you take your decision.

  • @aryanbhardwaj3843

    I could've got into many of them, with a decent scholarship. However, I am getting about a 90 percent scholarship on tuition fees and this can turn into a 100 percent scholarship too at a small university-AACSB recognized- on the USA west coast. The CEO of Deloitte global is an alumnus of this Program. I am about to join as doing nothing decent here. With a 700+ GMAT score and this much scholarship, is it a bad choice? Or I should believe in myself and should go. I am 26 already. The program has an option to extend OPT to 3 years time with data science courses. Anyone? P.S. - Amazing video as usual Mr. kamat.

    Ignoring the scholarship amount (you're still investing 2 years of your life, and that's a bigger investment than the money you save), it all comes down to one big question - Will you be proud and excited to have this brand on your resume? Or will you end up with buyer's remorse a few months/years down the line? These are questions that others can't answer.

    Something like that may work if you're assuming that the entire funding relies on family income/savings. But there are other avenues to check out as well - like scholarships, loans, internship, on-campus opportunities (graduate/teaching assistantship). That would be a better way to spread the risk, instead of instead of over-stretching family resources.

    For matters related to eligibility, rather than relying on a 3rd party's opinion, it's best to check directly with some of your target universities (send them an email), as the policies tend to vary quite a bit and evolve over the years. On the other point, most good bschools still insist on GMAT scores. Some may offer a waiver. So again, for this point the best source to verify is their official site.

In September 2021, I came to UK at University of Bath for my MSc in Data Science and I am on the verge of graduating with 2:1 degree by the end of August this year. However, I don't want to work in the Data Science domain. Coming to UK and pursuing MSc in Data Science, I soon realized this is not what I want to do in my life and now I have decided that I would love pursue MBA from India from top IIMs in the fall of 2023 or fall of 2024. 1. Yes, your guess is right. Being an older candidate does come with its challenges - not only in the classroom but also during placements. 2. You're right again. Shorter duration (1-year) programs in Europe attract more mature students compared to US b-schools. So do your research well and ensure that you don't stick out like a sore thumb in the batch. Start identifying and talking to students who come with your profile to find out what challenges they faced and how they dealt with it.

    Assuming you're referring to GMAT MBA programs (i.e. 1 year MBA at IIMs), the answer is No, 10th and 12th marks don't matter. Check this out as an example: www.iima.ac.in/web/pgpx/apply/faqs

    Several years back we published this list of MBA programs that accept correspondence courses & distance education degrees: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2014/02/17/mba-after-correspondence-courses-distance-education/ For matters related to eligibility, rather than relying on a 3rd party's opinion, it's best to check directly with some of your target universities, as the policies tend to vary quite a bit and evolve over the years.

    Many don't, some might. Depends on the company and how they perceive part-time degrees. Mainly because online degrees are not considered to be as selective to join.

    True, good MBA programs aren't cheap and that makes them unaffordable for many who don't getting scholarships/funding. As mentioned in video, we've tried to stick to the Top 100 globally and then filtered them down based on their fees. If you drop that quality criteria and go below the top 100, there are many more cheaper programs.

    MSc degrees typically attract younger folks. MBA would be better suited. A career change in a new country is always challenging. Other than the (new) degree, employers would also expect transferrable skills that they can use immediately. Start thinking on those lines too.
