Maxxis Razr All-Terrain Review - 37x12.50x17

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Want a tire with excellent on-road and off-road capabilities? Maybe it's time to take a closer look at the Razr A/T from Maxxis. Billed as their Flagship A/T tire, the Razr A/T has some real cool features that make this tire so good, it impressed us not only on-road, but off-road too.
For our review, we installed a set of 37x12.50x17 Razr All-Terrain tires on a 2021 Rubicon Gladiator and hit the road and our local trails to give these tires a solid shakedown. The results? These tires really surprised the heck out of us. They drove and rode great on-road, which was no surprise. What was a surprise was how well they worked off-road. The Razr A/T tire gave us excellent traction everywhere we ran it.

    Been running RAZR MT's tires now for 3 years all over the California & Arizona deserts, about to buy another pair. I have tried many brands throughout the years but MAXXIS has been my favorite by far!

    I am also running these tires currently. Had them for about 10k miles so far. I run a smaller than reviewed version on my Subaru Forester but they have held up very well so far. I expect about 40k out of them based on the way I drive. Mainly highway driving for work, but when I get a chance I'm down a gravel road our off in an ORV park. I run them at 18psi on sand and rough gravel. I selected them for their weight all the testing done down in Australia. I wanted a more aggressive A/T tread than the Cooper AT3 4/S I had before - also a fantastic tire. At 12/32 tread depth, I was hesitant, but the price was good.

    I am running these tires right now. Coming from a toyo mt i am impressed by their ability off road. They work better in the rocks but not as well in muddy situations. If i really get 40,000-50,000 miles i will be sold to get another set. The on road ability is leaps and bounds better then the toyo.

    I have been running Maxxis Razr MT's on both of my Jeeps. 2d (37x12.50r17) & 4d (35x12.50r17) Wear on the MT's is about 35k which is outstanding imo for a mud tire. The 2d is closer to 40k. Offroad is a amazing with the Maxxis MT's. I've never gotten stuck in mud, rocks, or sand, but I've been doing more on road lately in my 2d and need an all terrain because the MT's are not great on the road. I will most likely switch to the Maxxis AT. Thanks for your review. The 4d we switched to Wild Peak AT3 and they have been great on road and in the snow, but we do not take that Jeep off road any longer. The 2d will be the off road Jeep so we will need a more aggressive AT.

    I'm running the Maxxis RAZR MTs right now an and I'm not going to lie, I've been eyeballing these for a replacement for the MTs. If I'm going to keep running 37s on my daily, they need to be an aggressive AT. These seem more aggressive than the KO2 and aren't that much heavier. I believe they will have my business a 2nd time.

    I gave these Maxxis tires serious consideration when I was purchasing tires until I saw that they have some of the shallowest tread on the market. Like the BFG A/T KO2, they're only 15/32" deep! Although these have a long treadwear warranty, there's more to tread depth than just long life; it also comes down to offroad traction. I wound up buying a different set of tires that come with tread that's 21/32" deep: that's 40% deeper tread voids than these Maxxis tires provide!

    I waited almost 4 months for the 37" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T (18.5/32" tread depth) before giving up. I wound up going a bit more aggressive with the 37" Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 (21/32" tread depth) because it's supposed to be one of the quietest mud-terrains out there. They're definitely a lot louder than the 38" Milestar Patagonia M/T's I ran before (19/32" tread depth) but since I couldn't get ahold of a set of their new M/T-02 version, I went with the Yokohamas because they checked so many boxes for me. Once I burn through these, I'll probably try again to get ahold of the Baja Boss A/Ts because I really want a quiet but aggressive 3PMSF-rated tire.

    A mud tire has deeper tread than an all-terrain, who would've thought! Thank you for sharing this monumental discovery with the world.

    Not necessarily. There are plenty of A/Ts that have M/T-depth tread, but the Maxxis and BFGs most certainly don't.

    How would you rate these against the milestar patagonia X/Ts you just reviewed?

  • @northridgenation

    @northridgenation

    Жыл бұрын

    That's a tough one. They are both good and they both worked very well off road. I would say the Maxxis felt like they gripped the rocks a bit better and gripped the road better in the rain. The Patagonia worked great in the snow, but we haven't had the Maxxis out in the snow yet. We were also running them in two different rigs, so that could skew our review a lot.

    We haven't measured out a 35" Razr AT on a vehicle yet, but figure it will be like most other tires and measure 1" to 1.5" shorter.
