@@kikiirene20091 No he doesn't. He said, and there are videos on youtube where he sings in to a recorder. He has dyslexia. That is not an intellectual condition..meaning, he's not stupid. He just doesn't see words and letters the way others do. They look like alphabet soup. It's easily "fixed" with proper lessons/tutoring but the Chicago school system doesn't didn't budget for special needs. On top of that, that shows how gifted he is inspite of the sickness he experienced growing up and later inflicted on others.

Thanks for the clarification. I was aware he had dyslexia and couldn't read well. And yes he's always been a gifted genius of an artist. There's a lot of artists who suffer or suffered with dyslexia. Michael Jackson was dyslexic and a bona fide genius.

His maid said he used to write song lyrics on his bedsheets if he'd wake up insprired 🤔One of the many reasons ppl called him weird but if you're a multimillionaire, you can afford to mess up some egyptian cotton sheets for the sake of inspiration.

"Fortunate" was awarded Best R&B Single of the Year at the Billboard Music Award and Best R&B/Soul Single (Male) at Soul Train Music Awards. @Virginia Slade I'm sure you know about pro tools, doubles, layering vocals etc. All I hear and others apparently too, is Maxwell. His live performances he has back up singers if it's all the way live with no back track or instrumental...but background vocals are credited on liners and wherever song credits are listed. You should watch Christina Aguillera and Alicia keys record "Impossible". Keys wrote it but if you watch how they arranged the song that's the best example I can give you to vocal layering and if you can't hit certain notes to harmonize with your own voice, you can tweek them with pro tools

R. Kelly wrote and produced this song, he wrote and produced the whole Life soundtrack. React to Life by K-Ci & JoJo which is also on the Life soundtrack.

Maxwell definitely sung the background vocals. I can recognize his voice from anywhere in any range.

lololee24 Thank you. I trip when people expect him to know eras of music and artist that came out 10, 20, 30 years prior to his birth. Even if it’s in the 2000s, he was just born 2002. Cut him some slack. This is the fun part. Seeing him react for the first time to music most of us had the pleasure to grow up listening too.

I clicked so fast, I think my head spun! This is my favorite Maxwell song. It's so good! And it's on the soundtrack of one of my favorite comedies, "Life" with Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy. That movie is hilarious but I let it play all the way to the end of the credits to hear this and "Life" by K-Ci and JoJo. Classic!

This song/video, Lauryn Hill's "Ex-Factor," and D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" got non-stop rotation on BET during 1999. All 3 of those music videos automatically take me back to that year! Just the visuals alone scream 1999 to me, especially the semi-futuristic visuals and blue color everywhere in this and Ex-Factor.

Sweet Maxwell reactions. In my opinion, Maxwell is super underrated as an artist. When obviously he shouldn't be. He has one of the most silky smooth voices I've ever heard. And I love the song writing, his lyrics are on such a super elevated level, that it takes you a minute to understand what the heck he is talking about. He has one of those minds that go beyond conventional understanding when he sings the lyrics he writes.
